So here's a DS

So here is a DS and here's a DSi. I need to get one of them sometime in the future because apparently the Kingdom Hearts series likes to put a huge dent in my wallet as you all probably known or understand.

What are the differences between a DS and a DSi? and/ or Which one do you suggest I buy?

Does a DSi just have an internet option?

Thank you! :3

The major difference between the Lite and DSi is the removal of the GBA slot and the addition of the SD card slot, amongst some other gimmicky features.

If you care about being able to play GBA game still, get a Lite. Otherwise, go ahead and get a DSi. It's got the Shop Channel and stuff on it, that should be nice.

All right, thank you very much for your reply. :3

You might want to wait a while for the DSi to get the new colors though. :)

The question to ask is:

Are the SD card slot and DSiWare worth the additional cost of a DSi over a DS Lite to me?

You'll get your answer that way.

I just bought a PSP so it will be a while before I buy another system... though I have a DS. I seem to use my PSP more at the moment... so I will wait. It will probably lower in price later.

I have a Lite, but I wouldn't buy a DSi because you can't use homebrew cards in them... And all my games are ROMs saved on a homebrew card. ;)

I guess I did buy a few games, but most are ROMs.

I will be getting one, but I can't afford one at the moment. Nor do I need it at the moment. I'll wait until more happens with the DSiWare. I'm looking forward to that a lot with anticipation.

>..> I'm kinda hoping that they'll let us buy the old games we can't play on the DSi via the console itself that we could save on an SD card or something - like the virtual console on the Wii.

That would PwN with so much love <3

There's more to the DSi than just the SD slot and the DSiWare. The screens are said to be larger (never came around to measure them :D) and have a different quality (some say for better, some for worse), it has a new menu, a slightly different button layout (I think the main difference is the on/off button next to the lower screen instead of the on/off switch on the side), new sound (and a sound application), two built in cameras (and a graphics program) and I think it has slightly different dimensions, too.

So there's more to consider and it's even more dependent on your own preferences.

Personally I don't care for cameras and sound application (unlike a lot of people who actually prefer the DSi because of those), but menu, WiFi, button layout and SD slot have won me over rather quickly. And you have to consider that there will be (or already are - I guess that eye training game has to be one?) games that are only playable with the DSi.

I'm in the same boat as Sizz. I have an R4 card and the DSI kills that.

Not to mention I really have no urge to have one. The features it offers are more of a gimmick to me than anything else and the screens are really not that much bigger.

I will stick with my lite I'm fine with it.
