Ragdolls {A New Fantasy. Full up for now! Yay!}
-Il Passato- When they began they were crude, almost like puppets, and certainly kept from society. They had rattling joints, barren eyes, and you could see the patchwork colors. That was how you could tell they weren't human, really. The different colors of skin on each section, sewn off with stitches. They were like frankenstein's monster. "No," the artisan would say, always with his nose pressed into his books, "they aren't mere animals, or re-animated corpses. Some organic parts had to be used, for sure, but if you look closer...when you truly begin to understand their creation, you'll see something beautiful." When pressed further, he would gladly go into detail. So many tiny cogs and gears, and so much magic. In the great age of exploration, when the ancient magicks were only used by the upper class, trained in their academies and keeping their secrets, and when technologies were so fresh to bud, the artisan held potential and genius few could see. He was creating new life to accompany humans, unable to stand that we were all alone at the top of the foodchain, high and mighty on our throne. They would be so similar, yet so different. Over the years they became more complex. They began to lose that patchwork look (although the stitches remained) and began to speak. Their eyes gained a sentience that had once been barren, and each once developed its own personality. Sure, some of the old models had been individuals capable of speech, but they were still so inhuman, so unnatural, it could send shivers down a man's spine. Soon enough they were almost identical, save only the fact that they weren't solely made of flesh and bone. Then they were released out into the world. Not just the ones identical to humans, but also the old models. Introduced and immediately reviled. The people rejected them, the governments attempted to use them to their advantage, but of all groups to attempt profit from such surely the pirates were the most successful. These new creations, "ragdolls" they were called were capable of using magic, whereas before only highly trained academy students knew. The pirates would take them in at the price of learning the old magicks, and with the mistreatment found elsewhere many complied. Now with guns, cannons and magic the sea-bandits became a triple threat. To make it worse, it turned out the ragdolls were astounding sharpshooters, and many were embittered enough by society to side themselves with the rogues as more than just refugees. In a world consisting mostly of seas the battles between pirates and the navy are rampant, so how can the ragdolls, only a few years into their entrance of the world, keep themselves alive? Disliked, stereotyped and many unable to even understand the purpose of their creation, they struggle to survive amongst the humans. (In simpler terms: The era of pirates on the high seas meets magic meets inhuman ragdolly creations. In case you hadn't gathered that yet.) |
-Regolazioni- uno. Pay attention to the goings on so far in the roleplay and adhere to the storyline. I know it's fun to go off on your own thing, and it's okay as long as there's nothing epic going on, but by god if there's an epic battle and you're busy off having a romantic sub-plot while every other person is being shot at, there will be blood. (and it's yours.) due. PM me any questions you have about the ragdolls, the world, or the plot itself, and I'll help you out the best I can! You can be either a human or a ragdoll, let's just try not to make it all one or the other. tre. Try to keep things original, please? I don't want anything painfully cheesy. It's the unique and out of the ordinary that keeps me wanting to roleplay, luvvies, and let's keep me on this thread! 8D quattro. I want coherent sentences that adhere to the plot. At least two paragraphs per post. If you make great, eloquent, detailed posts most of the time and get caught up in life, leaving you to make either a short post or none, belive me I'd rather have the short post. However, those of you that post primarily itty bitty typo-filled things will be frowned upon. I don't mind if you're not exactly a master, but I at least want to see you put effort forward. cinque. All OoC will take place on the OoC Board. -Scheletro- Send a PM to me with your filled out app sheet once you’re finished. I’ll let you know if you’re accepted or not. Quote:

-Caratteri- Bleak Banter Name: Garret Rommel Gender: Male Age: 28 Species: Human Appearances: At an average height and fairly stocky, Garret is the perfect picture of a Naval Officer. He's got hardly an ounce of fat on him, all his weight coming from muscle, and not a single scar as of yet. His hair is greasy and tangled, falling in waves that reach just a little above his shoulders, and his surprisingly baby-like face is clean shaven. His wide eyes are a mud-brown, a color barely lighter than that of his hair, and his stance is always firm, confident and assertive. Image: n/a Strengths: - Dutiful - Open-minded - Kind Weaknesses: - Easily emotionally attached - A bit melodramatic - Always questions his own actions Hopes/Dreams: - Marry a sweet, quiet wife as patient and thoughtful as he is. - Retire at a young age and enjoy the quiet life. Fears: - The loss of those he loves. - Discovering that his superior officers are corrupt and his every deed not pure. Occupation: A naval officer, of course! Other: He has always had an aversion to magic, and thinks that, by nature, it's wrong. --- Name: Amma Gender: Female Age: 4 Species: Ragdoll Appearances: Amma is one of the older ragdolls, despite her sentience, and as such it's incredibly easy to pinpoint her as one. Her flesh is a patchwork array of pale colors, each one varying oh so slightly from the last so that, from a distance, she looks perfectly normal. The stitches, being black, stand out powerfully, and she hides them to the best of her ability with high necked long sleeved shirts and long skirts, but on her face they're visible. Her hair is strawberry blonde and cut into a pixie-cut, revealing that her left ear has two piercings. Her eyes are a pleasing cornflower blue, but have an unsettling dead look to them that most of the earlier creations had. She's short and thin with hardly a female figure, giving her an almost mythical appearance. Image: n/a Strengths: - Quick learner - Stealthy - Inventive Weaknesses: - Paranoid - Quick to judge. - Mistrusting Hopes/Dreams: - Learn sign language so she can properly communicate. - Write a book. Fears: - Starving to death. - Being murdered in her sleep. Occupation: At the moment she's unemployed. Other: Being an earlier creation, she has no vocal cords and is a mute. Quote:

It was cold - too cold, if Amma had anything to say about it. She didn't, of course, considering how she couldn't say anything but that was beyond the point. Somehow with all the snow and ice around ships were still pouring into the little port of Greyhelm, filling the streets with cold, hungry men. Mostly pirates.
That was what the port of Greyhelm was, really. Sheer anarchy. The only city in the entire land so overrun by criminals the government just gave up on it. This was the port of scum, and almost anything could happen here. Then again, that's what made it so appealing to her. There was danger and excitement around every corner, and the chances of you getting arrested for it were zero to none. As her dainty feet, wrapped up in cloth underneath the shoe in the faint hopes of keeping warm, stepped along the cobblestone path she could feel the eyes on her, and not the kind sort either. There was as much suspicion aimed towards her as there was being placed on them. Nobody trusted her because she was only a ragdoll, semi-human, and she didn't trust them because they were lawless low-lifes. It seemed a fair trade. A particularly cold gust of wind hit her right in the face, and without even thinking she jumped into the nearest building. It, by some fortune, turned out to be the end all be all of meeting places: a tavern. Considering the town it was in the building was in very good condition. The room was well lit by candles, the tables were well polished and it somehow even managed to keep from smelling atrocious. Sure, there were drunkards all abound, but how could she be bothered by that? A place that sells intoxicants is bound to acquire some intoxicated, after all. Carefully making her way towards a table, she eased herself in a fairly dark corner, wrapping her jacket, almost as patchy as she was, tightly around her. I hate the cold. She thought bitterly to herself, a scowl on her face. It seemed winter would never end. Running one of her pale hands through her incredibly short hair she let out a breath and leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table and looking around. Boring, boring, boring. There was nothing to do in here, and she sure as hell wasn't going back outside into the ice now that she was beginning to warm up. She was trapped, with nothing to do. "Excuse me. Are you...?" The voice made her snap her attention up, and she noticed a man standing beside her. Muscled, standing straight up, disciplined gleam in his eyes...must be navy. What were the odds of a man of the law being brave enough to spend their off duty time here? With her head cocked to one side she attempted to convey that she was listening. Apparently it reached him. "I just wanted to see if you were a- well- I've never seen one of you up close before." There was a light blush on Garret's cheeks as he tried to speak. He felt so absoutely impolite, gawking at her like a sideshow freak. "I'm Garret." He watched with curiosity as she reached inside her bag, his body tensed just in case she pulled out a weapon. Instead it was a card with one single word on it. Leaning in, he read. "Amma. Is that your name?" It was safe to say Amma was annoyed, and Garret could see it in her expression, but that didn't chase him off, and it didn't keep her from confirming by nodding, either. After all, she didn't have anything better to do. Who knew? Maybe it would lead somewhere interesting. God, she hoped so. |
Nero having currently been turned away from his last job as a ship hand wandered about the town aimlessly. "I wonder what I could find in a place like this." He thought to himself as he passed by some roughed up looking pirates, being sure to avoid eye contact with them as he went. "Hey doll face, whats your beef?" One of the two pirates shouted at Nero as he put a foot out to trip him. Nero not realizing the out stretched foot in his path toppled forward over it and landed on his knees in the snow.
Nero then glared over his shoulder at the men as they laughed at him. "You no good ugly pirates should ship out already." Nero said in a monotone voice as he rose to his feet and turned to face them. "Well, well, what do we have here?" pirate A then questioned pirate B. "It looks like the roughed up rag doll wants a fight." Pirated B said as he and the other pirate both rose to there feet. "I said nothing about wanting a fight. I just said you should leave." Nero commented not realizing how what he said in the first place could have been miss understood in the first place. Pirate A looked a bit shocked by his response and frowned in wonderment of just what the doll had meant. Pirate B on the other hand took offense to his and started to crack his knuckles as he neared Nero. "You hear that he's trying to get smart with us now." Pirate b said as he swung a punch at Nero. Nero looked perplexed for a moment but still managed to quickly dodge out of the way of the pirates swing. "I was not trying to be smart, I just 'm that way." Nero said as he stepped back from the two wanting to avoid a fight. However he ended up backing his way up against a tavern door. As his heals knocked the door he looked behind him to see what was blocking his way. And pirate B seeing that the doll was not paying full attention and still being in raged by his earlier comments took his chance to act upon revenge. However as he was getting ready to swing pirate A tripped on his way over and smaked into pirate B, causing the both of them to plummet in Nero's direction. Nero turning in just the nick of time to see them coming at him put his arms up in self defiance since he didn't have the time to get away. The three of them then tumbled threw the tavern door and landed heavily on the floor. Pirate B being even more mad now then before, threw his buddy off to the side of him then turned to the doll that was pinned under him. "Like I said before, doll boy, you'll pay for that." He hollered and then raised his fist to start whaling on the doll. (I was thinking that it be the same tavern that your two characters are in if thats okay with you. And you may react however you whish) |
(I'd hate to leave this unreplied to, so we'll continue on our own until either mochi-PANda makes an intro or someone else does. :3 I'm tired of playing the waiting game in the meantime! Also, sorry it's rather short.)
Before the conversation could continue, Amma's attention was diverted outside. She couldn't hear it well, but she could tell something was going on. There were the sounds of muffled, hostile voices, and then the sound of someone against the door. It was impossible for the naval officer to avoid following her gaze towards the exit, a curious look on his firm, assertive visage. Bam! In fell three men. No, two and a ragdoll. It made a difference in the patrons' eyes. Nobody seemed to react with horror or shock at the sight. Rather they were interested, as if watching some show. Nobody would admit it, but there was a morbid fascination for the pirate's fist as it slowly rose to pound itself into an artificial man. Once it began, nobody was going to make it stop. Nobody save two people. Garret, as a man of the law, was inclined to react. However, his reflexes were no match for Amma's, and neither was his determination. Whether he admitted it or not to him the victim was just a ragdoll. Subhuman. To Amma, however, it was not just a member of her own race, but a brother. They were all created by one man, and all family. She wasn't the kind to let family get hurt. Hardly being a creature of violence she whipped out a small blade that had been in the boot under her skirt and held it up with the most menacing look she could make. There were no threats she could make, and not even an intimidating glare. Those cold, dead eyes spoke of nothing. Only the downturned lips and furrowed brows (well, and the knife) spoke of her intentions towards violence should the act continue. Desperately she looked back at the Naval Officer, hoping he would help. Of course he was just watching like the others, making a spectacle of the event. Garret knew that he should help, it was just that it was so odd. Not to mention, if he went around announcing his status as a military man in a town full of anarchy his chance of survival through the night were slim to none. Great place to take a vacation. He thought to himself sarcastically as he watched Amma slowly slink forward. 'Safe.' She mouthed to the fellow ragdoll, wishing she had a voice to accompany the words. There was a slight quiver in her body from fear, but she would not back down. She had to help somehow... |
(O thats okay its plenty long enough for me. I like how you write it all flows so smothly. Sorry for the lame separation on the pirates but I was not wanting to make names for the temp characters)
Kaedo having raised his arms to cover his face before getting walloped had not realized the other doll that rushed to his side. "Hey whats your deal, shrimp boat?!" Priate B said looking the girl that ran up, at first not seeing that she too was a doll. "Can't you see I'm doing something right now." He said as he brought his right fist down hard on Kaedo, hitting him in the check bone on his left side. The impact of the punch causing Kaedo's head to be thrashed roughly to one side. His eyes squinched shut from either pain or fear. Pirate B continued to whale on Kaedo. Trying to get him in the face as much as possible but settling for hitting him in the gut and chest when the doll's face was too guarded. Pirate A seeing right away that the girl was a rag doll and had a short blade as well moved around his buddy to the side that she was on. "Now look here this is a fair fight between just the two of them lass, no need for you to get your pretty little face hurt over their quarreling, 'm I right?" He said as he held his empty hands in front of him, to show that he meant no harm to her. Kaedo hearing that the other pirate was definitely talking to some one other then him, slowly opened his eyes. He could just make out the image of another doll standing just beyond him mouthing a word; but what she was trying to say he could not make out. All the images were starting to blur together due to his tearing eyes and his losing of consciousness. However he still kept his arms up in what was now a futile effort to keep his face guarded. "Ha, how do like that doll face not so perfect any more now, huh?" Pirate b spat at the doll he still sitting on top of. He doll made no response and his arms collapsed to his sides and his eye lids closing as though he were drained of life. "Yeah thats what I thought!" Pirate b said as he began to stand up. Then with out warning the dolls left hand jerked up grabbing pirate B by the wrist. Then with a violent jerk pirate B was bing pulled down to the ground as the doll that he was previously beating on twisted out from under his falling body. Letting the pirate hit the ground with a thud while still keeping a hold of the pirates arm as he rose to his feet. With out any hesitation Nero placed a foot on the back of pirate B's neck right at the base of his head and gave a violent jerk to the pirates arm. There was the sound of pirate B gasping in surprise, then the snap of his neck followed by nothingness. "I told you to leave, didn't I." Nero said in a mellow tone as he dropped pirate B's lifeless hand, letting it fall to the ground on its own. "What the #$%^ have you just done?!" Pirate A yelled in horror and disbelieve at what had just happened. The sound of the other pirate catching Nero's attention, he now averted his gaze toward him and then slowly stepped over the dead body in the direction of the remaining pirate. |
Shit.
This was the only word Basil could really think of at the moment. And he was practically yelling it in his mind. As he wandered around in the frozen city he mumbled curses and swears towards his previous 'crew'. God damned ungrateful fucking sons of bitches. They had left without him. He thought they might, but at the same time, didn't think they had the guts to do it. Without him, they were shark bait. There's no way they could stand a chance against a fucking minnow without me on board. And I thought they knew it. That's why they had put up with him for so long, wasn't it? Or maybe they left him behind for that exact reason. He could have easily killed every man on that ship. Even the captain. Maybe they were afraid that he would take over? Well... He had knocked the captain out so they could go and have some fun... Maybe that's what they were afraid of: Fun. (Or at least Basil's version of fun.) The pirate kicked the closest stone he could find right through the nearest tavern's window. But, who cared? It was just some crappy little bar. Basil kept walking and kept cursing. At one point someone looked like they might bother him, but the look on his face kept them away. How the hell could they have left without me!? How the HELL am I going to get out of the shit hole!? Although he hated to admit it, Basil really did love the sea. His scowl only seem to grow by the minute. Just thinking of being left behind made him want to go and tear something up.... Which is exactly what he thought he'd do. He stopped. His frown disappeared and quickly turned upside-down into a smile that could only mean trouble. What kind of trouble is completely up to interpretation. He glanced around, looking for the nearest bar. And, there it was. One of the nicer looking taverns he had ever seen.... And he planned to trash it. Completely. Not kill anyone (unless they deserved it), but just tear the place up a bit. It's a pirate town, like anyone would notice... Or care. Basil opened the door to find a dead body (or a drunk just passed out in the door way), a very dumb looking pirate, and two dolls just kinda standing around. This threw him off guard, but not for too long. He walked past one of the dolls, being sure to step on the dead guy/drunk. Obviously, the guy's an stupid. Therefore, he didn't deserve much better treatment than what the ground would expect. The second doll was holding a knife. Better not stop to say hello to it, either. (Though he did play a quick guessing game. Male or female? Obviously male. Girls don't fight. Unless they're dolls. 'It' is a good pronoun.) He sauntered over to some other guy, he wasn't a doll. Or, at least he didn't look like one. It was hard to tell sometimes. In a low tone, he asked the shorter, dark haired man, "Hey, man, wanna help me out with somethin'?" ((This ended up a bit longer than I expected... And I'm a bit out of practice with role playing. And... I've got no clue what he's planning. :/ I was expecting something completely different to happen.... Also, he's supposed to be talking with Garret. And if I need to tone down his language some, let me know... That was something else I didn't really expect...)) |
' Way to run the fun, block head.' Eleanor thought, scowling over the rim of her mug. She'd just been really enjoying the would-be brawl. It appeared that the ragdoll male was not at all what he appeared to be. The atmosphere had grown heavy till Ele thought the roof might burst. If the young looking man managed to kill the other pirate, then the whole place was going to explode like a powder keg on fire.
And then some Bad ass wanna be just had to waltz right in and all that goes out the window. 'What the hell, don't you see the blood?' Eleanor wondered. He'd actually stepped in the sizable puddle on his way in, leaving neat boot prints to follow him across the room. 'And you had to pick the one under-cover law man here? Sheesh.' Ele rolled her eyes some more. Either this guy had terrible luck. The worst she'd seen aside from that of a hanged man, or he was really really lucky. He'd have to be if he acted like this every day and was still alive to be stupid some more. He looked like he'd planned to cause trouble. That really made Eleanor smirk. The dolls and their human friend seemed to have beat him to the punch on that one. Oh well, it wasn't like he couldn't stir up something else. 'And maybe you can bring all that murderous mob intention back while your at it?' Ele thought, not without a little hope. ((I really don't mean to pick on anyone's character!! Really, thats just how she is... I'm sorry for language too. Tell me if it needs cleaning up.)) |
(neheheh. You're both fine! I'm not a delicate lady, so swearing won't phase me. In real life 60% of my words spoken daily are bad words anyway. (shame on me! O: ) And don't worry about being insulting to peoples' characters, Snacky! If your charry is a jerk, let her be a jerk! It's in her nature, and nobody will be angry. It's nice to have such a critical character in a roleplay sometimes.)
When the pirate confronted her, hands up in an innocent fashion, she couldn't help but freeze. To hurt someone in the middle of a sign of peace would be far too crude for her. Knowing that she couldn't hurt him out of a rediculous sense of morality, and knowing that if she went to stop the other pirate she would be held down, she could only stand and watch in horror as violence ensured. Every blow into the ragdoll made her cringe, and by the time the pirate was standing up from his victory there were tears sitting at the corners of her eyes, just waiting to roll down her face. Crrrack! It was a sickening sort of noise, and its suddenness made her leap back and squeeze her eyes shut, the hair on the back of her neck standing on end. After a second she calmed down and took a deep breath, then opened her eyes. Ugh. She felt like she was going to vomit right then and there. On the ground was now a dead man. Murdered. Whatever happened now she was stuck. If he killed the other pirate and the tavern exploded with angry patrons, thirsty for his blood, she would be trapped in the situation to. They were both ragdolls, and so naturally she would have to suffer for her sins. It wasn't fair, but it was how these situations worked. That meant she had to get out of the situation, and fast. Garret had been watching the whole seen, and as the pirate died his brows arched in surprise. There was a certain finesse to the entire killing blow he had to admire. One more piece of scum in the world I don't have to bother with. He thought to himself optimistically. As if sensing that one pirate had died, another one appeared in the door way and made his way inside. Not only did he make his way inside, but he made his way straight towards Garret. Face to face with an obvious lawbreaker, the Naval Officer was stuck with a moral dilemma. Go kill himself by trying to stop any illegal activity and being lynched by an angry, anarchic mob? Or sit there and let justice be abandoned? "Hey, man, wanna help me out with somethin'?" Those words broke him from his thoughts. What did they mean, exactly? He didn't want to be associated with any illegal activity, but he hardly enjoyed seeming rude by saying "no." No matter what he did he would be harming some sort of moral code he bore. It was just one of those situations, he supposed. "Depends on what it is." It was a cold, aloof statement. You could hear the emotional detachment as his mind was off debating with itself. He just hoped that nothing horribly illegal was about to take place and be partially his responsibility. Looking over to the naval officer one more time, Amma realized to her horror that he was busy socializing. At a time like this? If she could have yelled something insulting at him, that would have been the perfect time. Having to settle with the fact that she couldn't say anything to even get his attention, she decided she would have to fix the situation herself. Somehow. As soon as she thrust her small blade into the lower back of the pirate making his way towards Nero she regretted it for many, many reasons. For one, it didn't help the 'get out of the situation' plan at all, for as soon as the pirate died there would be trouble. For two, it was hardly a lethal blow, just a painful one. That meant she was up against a slightly wounded but very, very angry pirate. In other words: She was doomed. (in case you're wondering, I'm letting Snacky post again since her intro didn't really involve any sort of character interaction. :3 ) |
((Thank you Bleak Banter! ))
Eleanor's spine stiffened to iron as she saw the small rag doll female lunge and strike at the remaining pirate thug. The fool had guts, Ele would giver her that. But maybe her brains really where saw dust, as the rumors said, because she'd chosen a shit spot to stab the guy and had invited a whole heap of trouble down on her head. Well the tense atmosphere was back alright. And with a vengeance too. Patrons where glaring, growling, and hands almost unanimously dropped to pistol butts or sword hilts. Everything seemed to teeter on the edge, just one little nudge would send everything to Hell in a hand basket. 'If I was a nicer person, I wouldn't.' Eleanor thought, grinning toothily. 'But wheres the fun in that?' She took a last gulp of her drink and stood from her seat, picking up a butter knife as she went. It was time for a distraction. And she rather wanted to get that girl on her own for a little chat. Preferably while they both still lived. Ele moved like a fish through water as she scanned the crowd. It was easy to find a particularly stupid looking dock hand, well into his cups with murder in his eyes. Ele scooted up to him, smiling as sweetly as her scars would allow. She slipped the butter knife into his rough hand and, ignoring his surprised and suspicious looks, proceeded to through her mostly empty tankard at the nearest greasy head. Belonging of course, to an equally greasy seamen. The man turned about, furious after he'd shaken the bits of clay mug and bad beer from his hair. Eleanor, before he could see her, had hidden behind thug number one. Still smiling like the cat that got the canary, she shoved back with her shoulders, sending thug one over to meet thug two. In a rather violent fashion, of course. Just as she'd predicted, violence exploded in the room like a match to dry tinder. But thankfully it hadn't erupted right on the top of the rag-doll's collective heads. There was no way things could have ended peacefully, especially in that situation with this lot. About a snow ball's chance in hell. But a little bar fight hadn't bothered Ele since she'd gotten big enough to fight back and hold her own. But she rather had other things to tend to in that moment, rather then walk down memory lane. Eleanor was able to make her way through the rioting crowd of roughs with only a few stomped toes and aimless elbows to the gut. Eventually she even manged to reach the girl that had caused all this. "Hello my duck!" she said cheerfully, practically roaring to be heard over the din around them. "Might I suggest you make hast to leave? Its getting might blood thirsty, after all." Being overly familiar as usual, Eleanor grabbed hold of the doll's wrist, uncaring that she'd seen the girl stab a man in the back and the boy actually kill some one. |
(( Bleak: Thanks! :] Snacky: If Ele said those things, then there'd be a fight, but don't worry about insulting Basil. It's not that he doesn't mind [he most certainly does], but it'll make for good arguements later if they end up talking.))
Depends on what it is...."Hmm." Basil turned on his heel to face the dolls. He was going to say something about making that situation worse, but the blonde doll seemed to have taken care of that already. So, he said the next thing that came to his head. "I'm trying to get a crew together," He wasn't really, but an idea was forming in his mind. "If I could get a ship, then I could go and kill some nasty pirates. You know, be like a Robin Hood of the sea or something," He watched this girly-looking blonde snake around the room with a butter knife. "That or just thin out the crowd. Too many weak pirates out there, anyways." The blonde had found his target. Basil saw what he was doing. "I'm surprised the Navy doesn't have a better hold on the situation. We could help them out." Now the blonde had started a fight... And run away. What a coward. He almost disliked how he was sounding. He didn't really want to be a good not so law abiding vigilante or something. You know the type. Good intentions to make a crime filled city better, but going about it in a way the law doesn't really like.... Actually, the thought was starting to sound better the more he turned it over in his head. He wouldn't be like Robin Hood, though. No, the riches would be all his. But, he'd get to go and beat the shit out of pirates and actually have more of a reason to do it. The brawl broke out across the bar. Basil had wanted to be the one to start the fighting.... And also be the center of it. How lame, this wasn't going to be any fun at all... Unless... Basil seemed to be very full of ideas tonight. A devilish smile spread across his face, "Looks like we'll have to take care of this first. If you're strong, prove it here and you can join me." Basil drew his sword with his left and pulled out his pistol with the right. He shot once up in the air to get the bar's attenton and yelled out his challenge. "Listen up, fuckers!" The pistol went back into its holster. "If a single one of you can lay a single scratch on either me or my friend here," He motioned to Garret, before revealing what was obviously a very full coin-purse. It was brown and looked very used, but who cares about the qualitity of the bag if it's obviously full of money? Maybe even jewels! "Then you can have all my gold and gems." The bag went back to his belt and he fell into a very comfortable stance. ((I never know what he'll end up doing.... And... I'm really bad at doing npc stuff..... > > I'm sorry. I'll try my best to type out a good fight in the next post, though~ )) |
In the crashing silence after the moron's gun shot, Eleanor couldn't help but hear his cocky challenge. Did he really think he could take on all comers and still have enough fingers left to actually carry away his monmey bag? Assuming he was still alive, of course. Ele's grip tightened about the wrist she held, her arm quivering slightly. It would be just her luck that as soon as she gets things to start going her way, a better opportunity would come up. It was tempting to just leave the tavern to what ever bloody games fate had instore. But all that gold! "That bastard..." She muttered through gritted teeth.
Raising her eyes again, Eleanor gave the dool a push towards the door. "You should still get out of here. Just run. I'll try to catch up. I have a few things to...collect, before I can leave." With a smile, Eleanor turned and shoved her way back into the crowd. It was easy enough to get to the front of the action. Instead of fighting against the stream, this time she was going with the flow. What proved to be the challenge was getting any closer to That One Guy and his apparent friend. A ring of space had formed around them, all the would be opponents keeping just out of reach. They rather reminded Eleanor of bunch of cows, waiting for some one else to jump in the river first so they all could cross. A river infested with a really big, really stupid crocodile. 'Shit...Someones going to get there first at this rate!' Ele thought, looking around for something she could use to insight a rush. Under the cover of bodies, she was sure she could get close enough to the lack wit to cut his fat purse and then safely run. And then, with her own pockets thickley lined, Ele planned to go back and search for those dolls, if they too had survived that long. 'Such a neat plan.' Ele thought, congratulating her self a little. 'Now watch some arsehole screw it up.' Her thoughts turned grim. Thankfully, at that moment, with a great cry that shuddered the roof timbers, the assembled fighters surged forward and broke against the two men, like the pounding waves of the sea against the rocks of a cliff. 'Now!' Ele thought, using the momentum of numerous bodies to propel her forward. She stayed low, weaving in and about through kicking and running legs. It felt disgusting, but she knew the prize was well worth it. At last, Ele reached her goal. Gently she grasped the bottom of the bag and raised her blade, ready to cut it's strings and escape these two to their fate. |
"What.... What the hell!" Pirate a screamed in shock as he stumbled forward after being stabbed by the other doll. Turning about to see her as he tried despertaly to get the knife from his back. Wells unawhere of the doll that still apporched him. With one smoth gesture Nero pulled the knife from the pirates back and then whiped it about severing the pirates head from its body as if it were a hot knife threw butter. Not even paying attention to the next pirate that walked by casualy, Nero stood still.
As the body toppled over its own head and fell to the ground the room fell silenct for a moment. Then came the sound of a ruckess being started some where near the back of the taveren aned this was all that was needed to finaly send all of the taveren inhabitants into a freenzy. Nero fought any that came at him not moving from his current location any more then what was required to dodge fatal blows. Taking one after the other serving out death dealing blows like a bar tender does drinks at an open bar. He didn't even relize the one who started the commotion in the back making her way forward and snagging the other doll. It made little difference to him what would become of any one in the area. At the sound of the gun shoot Nero's head rose his fighting and averted in the direction of the noise. Even though money made little to no importance to Nero he was still attaracted by the mob that now rushed at the two men. They werent going to get rid of him that easily if he could help it. Making his way in that direction taking out one pirate after another with his bare hands as he danced his way closer the tow that had made the bet. As he arrived he seen a tall blonde trying attain the treasure bag with as much stealth as possible. With no hesitation Nero stepped up to where the blonde was and boldly placed his right foot on her back so to prople himself into the air with more force then what he would of had from lifting off the ground. Then as he lifted off from her and into the air above the gentalmen that had placed the bet he formed his first two fingers on each hand into a hook like shape as he assended down between the two men prepareing to hit them first with his feet as he kicked out at both of them. |
Despite the confusion, Basil was able to keep up with everything that was going on. That little coward trying to steal his coin purse. (He had expected a number of people to do this. Which is why he had put it in such an obvious place. People reaching for a coin purse were easy to decapitate.) And then there was that doll from the front of the bar who jumped off of the theif's back. Basil wasn't quite sure what the doll was going to do, but knew better than to stay put. He stepped and turned out of the way, bringing his sword up in an attempt to slice the doll's stomach open.
Once he had sarted on this path, he didn't stop. He moved like liquid through the crowd, slashing and cutting whoever and whatever got either too close or in his way. ((Sigh. I was gonna type more, but got distracted and can't seem to pick it back up. D: Sorry for the short post! ;__; )) |
Faith was breezing through the day's heavy crowd, as if she were a seagull riding a strong gust of wind. She allowed her thin delicate fingers to casually stroke the thick walls of houses, shops and pubs before she chose to stop in front of an average looking tavern that echoed sounds nearly like an army bombarding another nation's troops. And that would mean a lot of yelling. Which probably meant fighting, Faith thought slyly. She began reaching for the brass door handle when a small girl stumbled into her.
"Oof!" Faith breathed out, tumbling to the dirty littered ground. She landed on a thinck cobble stone, and nearly cracked her head on it, if she hadn't stuck out an arm behind her, protecting her fall. Sadly for the other girl, Faith couldn't say the same. She stood up, defiant, and reached out an arm to the fallen girl. "Would you allow me to help you up?" she asked in a voice slightly robotic. Faith was still working on fixing that. (Gosh, I'm so sorry it took me so dang long to respond, I feel so behind now! -.- ) |
For a second after she stabbed the man Amma could feel the tension in the room, so thick she could hardly breathe. In this moment she was completely frozen with fear. There was no way she was going to get out of this alive, was there? Then, as if out of the blue, her prayers were answered.
The powderkeg blew, but rather than on her it exploded wrath spread evenly. It wasn't man vs. ragdoll, it was man vs. anybody he could get his hands on. The pent up rage each man had been holding was choosing a nameless victim, desperate to get a few punches in. In the chaos she formulated a plan to sneak out, and as soon as she filled out the last detail of the escape in her mind she felt a hand fall on her arm. Reflexively she held up her free arm in a defensive position level with her face, but after the woman spoke she relaxed. Apparently she wasn't going to be hurt. To be sure she didn't relax in the slightest (and in fact became more suspicious of the woman's intentions. Surely she was up to something.) but she pretended to feel safe. In this moment, even though she didn't know the man for long, she took a look at the Naval Officer, Garret. He seemed a nice enough sort. Was he going to get himself killed? The calm on his face as he observed the fight was surprising, but anybody could see that his body was in a defensive position. He was going to fight by the end of this, that much was certain. In the mean time, he satisfied himself with laughing at Basil's proposition. "I know it's hard to believe, but I'm more of a noble knight than a Robin Hood. Breaking the law just isn't my-" He would have continued making excuses, but he was interrupted by a gunshot. And words. Basil's words made his eyes grow as wide as dinner plates and his mouth grow slightly agape? After the mere second it took to react towards his offer every burly, scarred man in the tavern rushed towards the pair at once, bloodlust in their eyes. "Why the hell did you include me?" He shouted in a frantic voice as he was hit by the wave of thugs. At first he used his hands and fists, doing his best to scrabble by, until he realized he had a weapon on hand. Taking a deep breath and feeling a wash of guilt come over him, he pulled out the fine short blade, standard to all naval officers. Consider their crime assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. Don't think of them as innocent. Just don't. And with that he began to defend himself. The bloodshed made him sick to his stomach. Damn that pirate. He added with a sneer as he stabbed a man through the heart, kneeing another where it hurts at the same time. Amma would have kept watching, but she felt herself shoved towards the door by the woman, and, being caught off guard, stumbled out with minimal resistance. The freezing cold air she had entered the building in the first place to avoid hit her like a brick wall, and before she even hit the ground she broke into shivers. But she didn't hit the ground, did she? Well, she did, but it seemed she took out another poor soul with her, hardly even breaking her fall. Bam! As she finally hit the ground her head ricochet off of the cobblestones and for a second the world went white before returning to normal. Her head felt on fire after that, and her whole body woozy. "Would you allow me to help you up?" There was something freshly unnatural about that voice. She could tell it wasn't human, and that meant it was sincere. Ragdolls were family, so they always seemed to care. That was how she saw it, and she wasn't quick to change her opinions. Taking the hand, she let it pull her up and gave a thankful smile. She was about to pull out a card that said "thank you" on it to express her gratitude, but, with horror, she realized she had left her bag behind at the table she had once been sitting at. Giving a hasty bow in respect, she immediately began to sprint her way in. Or at least she tried. She was woozy, and stumbled. After a few failed attempts at rescuing her property she decided to sit at the doorway and watch. The fight would end eventually, after all, and then she could get her items. Until then she would have to wait. In the middle of the ungodly combat Garret felt filthy as he cut through scum after scum. Who knew if these men had wives? Children? It was a nightmarish thought that swarmed him. Maybe it was true, and he was too softhearted for his own good. But faced with his death by these men even such kindness could not hold him back. He had to live. The movement at the corner of his eye alerted him to the doll's attack and somehow, even amid all the blurred violence, he managed to move out of the way, attempting to dodge rather than parry. The pirate could deal with that on his own. After all, the bastard brought him into this without his consent. |
Faith quickly pulled the girl up. Faith blinked in surprise. It was another Ragdoll, one like herself. Faith nodded happily that she had unexpectedly found a friend, one that was a Ragdoll even!
As she waited for the other Ragdoll's thank you, the girl abruptly turned around, racing for thedoor back into the tavern. Sadly, the other ragdoll's attempts were useless for she was woozy from the fall. The girl sat down on the steps, clearly distraught and looking very exhausted. Faith walked over to her and sat beside her. "Do you...care if I try something on you? I promise it will make you feel much better so you may enter the tavern once more if you please." Faith tried her best to look sincere, but that was an emotion that seemed to keep wiggling itself out of her grasp. Faith wondered if she appeared silly to the other girl. |
Garret's excuses were pretty sad. If he doesn't like breaking the law, then he's probly Navy. The thought would have made Basil frown if he hadn't been smiling in anticipation of the fight. And in response to Garret's absurd question, Basil yelled out his response, "I want to see how strong you are! I mean, obviously you're strong, but how strong? I know I could take all these thugs any day. And look, I'm even helping you out!" Basil said all this between parries, thrusts, dodges, and emphasized the last sentence with a stab through some thug's chest.
The fight continued and Basil obviously was loving every second of it. He lived for this. The way he fought looked almost completely improvised. There was no definite style and almost anyone could tell that he probably taught himself. He used his surroundings as a weapon almost as much as he used his sword, and every opportunity he found to stab at someone new, he took. "By the way!" He yelled over to Garret, "I'm Basil. And if you don't like breaking the law, then don't. Just come with me. You won't regret it." Not even Basil really knew why he was trying to recruit this random guy. Excuse me, random Navy guy. If you looked at his sword, it was obviously Navy. Basil tried to think about what he could tell the guy to get him to join his 'cause' (if you could even call it that), but decided to focus more on the fight. If he got scratched, then he lost all his money. Even though it'd be simple enough to get it back or get some new money.... it would be a nice thing to keep. ((I forgot to say in my last post, but Basil's fighting style is very much like Mugen from Samurai Champloo... They were really alike when I first made Basil, but I think now they're pretty different.... I hope Basil doesn't rip off other characters too much... I'm not trying to. :/ )) |
((okay now its fixed up. Sorry about that. If it matters any I didn't even realize the comparison between your character and Mugen until you made a point of it. They still seem quite diff to me even with knowing that.))
Nero just barely catching the gleam of the sword out of the corner of his eye as he came down decided to shift all of his wait backward in an attempt to do a back flip, provided that he had enough room to. Just barely skimming the sharp side of the blade as he foiled backwards. The blade riping his shirt from his chest all the way to his waist line, leaving a long scar that was only about an inch deep at most as it went down. After rolling onto his hands and back up to his feet, Nero grabbed his chest with his left hand for an instance, as if to survey the damage that was done. No longer even paying attention to the other man that stood behind him (Garret) as he did so. Then as though not satisfied, he bent down and grabbed a discarded short sword with his left hand and made his way after the man as he moved threw the crowd. Not necessarily intending to attack this time but rather just to keep up with him and see where he was going. As the one yelled back to the other in what seemed to be an attempt to get the other man to join him, Nero took his opportunity. Coming up behind the man and tapping him on the shoulder with the hilt of his short sword. "Do you have a ship?" Nero yelled over the crowed of the people as he did so. |
((Thanks! :D I'm glad that they're not too similar anymore. :] ))
Basil turned and almost slashed at Nero again when the doll tapped his back, but managed to notice that the doll didn't want to fight at this point with enough time to redirect his attack to someone else. Come on, less talking more fighting. If I quit paying attention to the fight because of some stupid conversation, then I'm dead. Well, broke, but close enough. The doll wanted to know if he had a ship. He smirked, "Not yet, but I'll get one soon enough." He spun around, cutting through someone else, "Come with me!" Basil was still grinning, "Having a doll on board'll be great." He offered the doll his hand for a moment, but the gesture didn't last for too long... Being in the middle of a fight and all. But, the crowd was definitely thinning out. Lots of people dead or wounded, and Basil was sure that a few of the more cowardly bastards had left already. ((Sorry, this one's not as long, either. > >;; Hopefully my posts over the week will be longer, but over the weekend, I'll definately be able to sit down and type more. Sorry if that's a problem. D: But I'll make sure the content of the posts are at least decent. )) |
((Your welcome. I understand how it is first staring out on creating your own characters. My first rpg character (not this guy) was practically Matt from Digimon only with a diff name. He even had a weakling little brother. :rolf:))
Nero half expecting to be lashed out at slid back on his heals a little so to avoid the sword. He sighed a bit of relief as he watched the man redirect the blade into some nearby thug. Nero looked vary hopeful as the man began to talk. Then the hope left his eyes as the man said not yet. Nero then had a perplexed look on his face as the man offered for him to join him. Not often did such luck ever come by for Nero. Not like this any way. A ship that was to come and being excepted to come was better then stowing away on some one eals ship, Nero figured and in so nodded his head in response to the man. At first reaching out for his hand and then quickly recoiling it so to strike at a one of the thugs that had miss happened in front of him. Nero seeming to be on bothered by caring on a conversation as he fought began to speak again. "Why have you not a ship yet? What does it require to acquire one?" (thats okay with me on it being a bit shorter then the beginning post. Its still longer then what I usually get to work with on other rpgs lol mines kinda short too) |
((Gah! I thought someone else would post! ;__; Now I feel bad for being kinda inactive. I'm going to apologize now for the length and or quality of the post, but I'm being a horrible procrastinator and need to take the Internet off of my computer so I can sit and write this paper without getting too distracted..... ))
Basil decided to quit focusing on what he said and just go with whatever ended up coming out of his mouth. He'd do better with fighting if he did that. At the moment, he decided to ignore the question of why he didn't have a ship. As for the other question? "Mostly money, but intelligence doesn't hurt. I haven't tried my hand at being the captain yet, but it's not a hard job." He smirked, "I've met some good captains, all I've gotta do is follow their examples," A jab to a thug's gut, "and be sure not to mimic the shitty ones," a slash across another's face, "the only thing that'll cause me a problem," now a parry, "is picking out the ship!" The next slash decapitated a pirate. This was one of the last of them and the rest didn't look too keen on joining back in. "So, what do you say, doll?" Basil stood up straight now, not really expecting anyone else to attack him, but even if they did, he would be ready for them. "Are you in?" He couldn't help but look over to see how the Navy man was doing on his end. There really weren't that many left living and the last Basil had seen, the guy was doing great. He would be an excellent addition to his currently one man and maybe one-doll crew. And then they might be getting somewhere with getting a ship. Who wouldn't want to use a Navy officers powers of persuasion? Even if the man isn't an officer... Or willing to persuade. Basil could take care of those little lies. Speaking of 'little lies,' Basil was already formulating tales to tell the guy about the corruption of the Navy. They weren't all false... Maybe exaggerated just a bit, but not false. In fact, Basil may not even have to exaggerate at all. Telling the truth to get someone to join his cause? This wasn't something he was used to. Having a 'cause' wasn't something he was used to either. He looked back to Nero. "Let's go kick pirate ass out on the high seas, doll. I'm sure there's some revenge you're just dying to take care of." The devilish smirk was back on his face. ((I wanna know what in the world Basil's thinking.... He's got it in his head that he can be some totally awesome bat-man of the sea type person. Isn't that hilarious? And Matt rocks. XD;; I love Digimon so much.... )) |
((What Basil is thinking is a good question indeed. He's quite a character so far. lol Yeah Matt is cool enough but I think Tie was actually my favorite character in 1st season, which is strange that I picked Matt as a character base.... Alright some one eals that like Digimon as much as i do *high five*))
Nero continued to fight as he listened intently to what Basil had to say. Nodding his head to every thing that Basil said as if to acknowledge his words. "Money is not hard to get." Nero said as he slashed a man's belt line causing his guts to spill every where. "And I would not know of being a captain." He continued as he grasped another man by the face with his one hand. "I've only ever known bad ones." He remarked as if a bit angered by this as he squeezed the mans face until it lost its physical shape then let go of him. "Yes, that would be good to know." Nero remarked as a little smirk came across his face as he watched the man run of cursing the hole way. "I would not want bad things to happen if you were not." Nero said as he rushed over to one of the remaining guys. "I know a lot about getting a good ship though. I can help on that." He said as he laid the man over on his knee and jabbed one elbow into the back of his neck and pushed the man's chin up with his other hand until he heard a satisfying crack then let the man slump to the ground. Then Nero was silent monetarily as he watched the rest of the place clear out. "Yes. I well join you and your cause, as you seem to like to call it. But please do not call me doll anymore. I have a name even if I gave it to myself, it is still what I go by." He added as he walked to Basil's side. He was quite for an instance as he followed this man's gaze. He was staring at the same man that he had placed the bet with earlier. "It is Nero." He almost whispered as if it were a secrete. ((Yeah I know what you mean. I cant get my home work done worth beans while I have the Internet going at the same time. Also do you think we should hold off on the rping for a while to give the others a chance to catch up or no?)) |
((Yes, I think we should wait for a while so that the others can post. And *high five!* I love Digimon. :] I think Matt and Sora were my favorites, though I didn't really dislike any of them. And sorry for not really having a real post here, D: I just wanted to answer....))
