remember michael jordan?
he was super famous in the 90's. basketball star, on cereal boxes and in a warner brothers movie. he was EVERYWHERE. I think he was even in a music video or something? fly like the eagle or something? I don't know, but that's how I remember it.
anyways, I randomly thought of him and realized that when he retired I thought he'd stay in the movie business or something. I've seen him maybe once on one of those sitcom shows or something. other than that, he just dissapeared. weird. |
Haha. I just saw an article about him on yahoo news yesterday, something about a lavish new home he bought (I didn't read it, I just saw the headline...maybe they were talking about his current house. Dunno. I just remember it being about a house). I never was into basketball, so even though I know he was super famous for that, when I think of him I think of Space Jam :D Oh that movie. I remember linking it when it came out.

hahaha ya, the warner brothers movie. that thing was INSANE. blew my little kid mind all over the walls. I think that's when I started contemplating alternate universes and portals and stuff.
I was a very odd kid, and I don't think that movie helped. lol |
I think of Space Jam as well when I hear about Michael Jordon. I love that movie. <3
I didn't know much of him until Space Jam came, but I wasn't really interested in Basketball either. Lots of celebs seems to keep it quiet when they retire. I guess it's a way for them to breath. o-o; |
I always just think of Space Jam when I hear his name, too.
That film was huge when I was in high school. Michael Jordan will forever be associated with lame "I Believe I Can Fly" jokes. |
I think a lot of sports celebrities who aren't gracious tend to be quiet after they retire because they can't stand to see their records broken, etc. He seems to be of that type.
That said, I live in the Chicago area where he is still talked about constantly. Like he's made headlines for not going with the 2016 Chicago bid team to Copenhagen, etc. Again, making headlines for NOT doing something. ._. Still, better than making headlines for a paternity suit, like he seems to do every year. Of course, you can't forget the fact that his father was murdered, not because his son was a celebrity, but his murderers recognized him and made a video gloating and such, so there was a bit of baggage about celebrity from that. So it could be more complex. But, I don't really think so. And no, I'm not a huge fan of his, but I will say it was fun in Chicago when he was on the Bulls, and he did live next store to a friend of mine at the time, so it was all very exciting at the time. But I don't really go in for team sports. |
Of course I remember him! How could I not? Even now he's still pretty big!
Actually, I remember reading an article on him recently. He just accepted an award for being accepted into a Hall of Fame (I forget what for, though; something sports related) Apparently, during his acceptance speech, he ripped into everybody who had wronged him during his entire career. EVERYBODY. It was a train wreck. XD |

Haha, yeah, I remember vaguely about those. I always get that song stuck in my head too. |
I'm going to move this thread over to the Media forum, as that's where celebrity discussion belongs. :)
