Getting Kicked Out...Thieft?
Okay, this is what happened to my grandmother:
The apartment that she lived at (In China) was being so-called "renovated" when she was living with us. The apartment belonged to her company, but she still had to pay rent and that WAS her residence. The demolition company destroyed the building without notifying any of my grandmother's contacts and they later stated that they "tried to call her" but no one picked up. My uncle went to the phone records place and checked everywhere and it said that the demolition company did not even TRY to contact anyone. Then they ALSO said that they moved everything that was in my grandmother's room (without notifying her once again)(but thank goodness it didn't get destroyed along with the building). SO, last year we went back to China and my grandmother went to check out how the apartment was doing. Apparently she had to wait and annoy the people that were in charge of sorting rooms to even CLAIM a room. I can't even help because I can't read or write Chinese and my speaking and understanding is as bad as a kindergarten kid's. THEN she went to see if she could look at the stuff that the moving company so called "moved". Apparently, they won't let her see it no matter what see did. The getting the room took about 4-5 months and then she had to come back to Canada with us so she couldn't get into the things that the company moved. And then today, my uncle called again and said that "Everything's gone except for the cupboard and a desk. And the cupboard's completely empty. Even the bed, the bowls, and all your clothes are missing." APPARENTLY someone came in and "Stole" stuff the company said. (and my grandma says "WHO THE HELL STEALS BEDS??!!!"(in Chinese of course)) I doubt anyone will actually read any of this, but I seriously needed a place to rant and blow some steam and have an inkling of hope that this might actually do any good. Soooo.....anyone good with China's laws and stuff? >.> Because I think my grandma should really get a break from all this.... |
wow, thats tough! sorry, i dont know chinese laws or anything...but maybe the demolition guys stole it?
|
it sounds to me like the demolition guys here a bunch of heartless ba*tards. I hate selfish people. Stealing from an old lady, who does that! They'll get their just desserts one day and I hope it's terrible for them. I hope your grandmother and your family will be OK and I wish your family all the best.

damn. If this was america, i would say sue the hell out of em! Unfortunately it's not. Try researching some of chinese laws. Use google or wiki.
|
Wow, that really sucks. I feel so bad for your grandma! is it possible that she can continue to stay with you guys?
|
slickie>> yea, I'll check that out :)
fuyumi>>yeah, she's staying with us right now...but she's kinda really sad and pissed that all her stuff's missing. And she has really good reason to be like that ._. I guess I kinda got pissed too ^.^''''' |
:O that sucks! good luck to ur grandma
|
so, did you look up chinese laws?
|
HARSH!!!!WHO WOULD STEAL A BED!!!!oh wait.... they would sell it...........
|
You would probably have recourse in America but unfortunately in China the laws may different. Try to Google it like others have said. You may be able to google a chinese american chat room or blog where you may find someone to help you.
|
I searched it up, but it doesn't give any details ;-; All it more or less says is that it is a TON of mixed laws including british, traditional chinese, german, and some others ._.
And apparently there's no perfect translation for "right" (as in legal right) Wait, I found it! but it is a lot of stuff to read ._. I'll read it as soon as I finish my homework and clean up my room. Oh, and I just remembered...My aunt is currently studying law but she hasn't passed the exam yet >.< |
That's so crazy! China has less of a reputation for being honest, though, don't they? At least, bluntly so? They have a different set of laws than they do here. Bootlegs for example are legal there. They're downright illegal in Europe and in Japan... I think America is one of those--if you make a mistake then fine--sort of countries though...
Still, that sucks. D: |
