"I can protect her on my own, sometimes I even doubt she needs protecting. But even if she did, you are the last person any of us would trust." Ai snapped out. His headache was getting worse now, and fatigue was starting to drag at his limbs. He fought against it to the best of his ability but a little strain managed to show on his face.

Oh yes… Her mother has ensured that,” The demon responded with false hurt, sighing softly as he touched his chest gently. He then looked to Ai, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Are you sure? You don’t look well….” the creature continued with a silky concern that did not suit his nature. He was starting to grow bored…this was what he wanted to confirm. He had also heard of the attack last night and wanted to insure the poison was no longer threatening his ‘weapon’. “Perhaps Kari should take you back to bed.” He said with a dark chuckle, disappearing. Kari bit her lip slightly, holding onto Ai. He didn’t look right, for once she and her father agreed on something. As he disappeared she held Ai closer, laying her head against his chest gently. “For once he had a good idea…. You need rest…..” She suggested gently, touching his cheek uncertainly. She briefly wondered… did he know about the poison ? What was going on…….. Something had happen in the demon world, something that threatened both her and her friends… |
Ai blinked slowly, the pounding in his head hadn't gone instead it had gotten even worse. He smiled at Kari, "I guess...but it's fine. I'll be alright come on, let's get back to the dorms before a teacher comes looking for us...one that isn't Aoi." He softly placed his hand on Kari's shoulder, he now understood what Kari's father meant by Kari almost dying, the pain he was going through, mentally and physically, it was enough to kill anyone. Ai briefly wondered if he should tell Kari and then quickly dismissed the thought, she would demand that he return her full powers and to stop hurting himself, that was something he couldn't do and so he kept mum.

Kari smiled softly and curled closer as he touched her shoulder. She held him close, still watching him. Something was wrong…she knew he wouldn’t tell her but she wished he would. It was killing her to go through this…to watch him and not understand why. She remembered the pain before but thought little of it, knowing she would survive…… she always did no matter how it hurt. “Yeah…” she said softly, watching him. “What is wrong…?” she asked with a sigh that said she expected another lie. Unknown to her, her taken energy stirred in reaction to her emotion and for a moment the darkness and light would be united rather then fighting one another. It seemed her shadow and light were united in one thing….her love of him. |
When the pressure lightened Ai cast a curious glance at Kari before answering, "I won't lie to you Kari...but I can't tell you. I don't want you angry at me." He smiled sadly, "This is something I chose to do for you, so don't worry about it...promise me?"

I can’t…” Kari said with an honest, but sad, smile. She couldn’t not worry for him, it was like asking her not to breath. This passion…this was really why she lived when so many of his other ‘children’ had died. Her desire to live, to love, to get what she wanted was absolute. The one thing she inherited from her father was what had her standing before Ai now. “When I said I loved you I wasn’t kidding…” Kari added with a light humored tone. Shortly afterwards she leaned forward and gripped his hand, kissing him deeply. As this emotion swelled to it’s ultimate he would then feel something…something that showed why demons were so determined to kill her, what she could be. For a moment her energy with him would be painless…and swell. For the moment he would feel all the power she could have, all the power of Lucifer’s right hand and the purist, most powerful angel. It would only last as long as the kiss…but it would be overwhelming and clear. ((Of course that’s just what she could be xd, she’ll have to learn her powers first and blah blah blah xD)) |
Tabitha opened one eye and looked over at akuma on the floor, she sat up quickly and realized she was in her bed, "Why are you on the floor?" she asked.

Akuma yawned, "Promised not 'ta leave you alone..." he slurred out.
Ai winced slightly when Kari's energy swelled, true it probably wouldn't hurt her right then but to him...well it was very painful. He took a shuddering breath as he stepped away from Kari, "I know you weren't..." Ai whispered, "I...What your father said is true. You would have died. In fact, you should be dead...I sorta took some of your energy to help your body recover...and it's killing me." Ai continued, voice still a whisper, slightly hoarse now. |
Tabitha blinked and moved over, "you dont need to sit on the floor" she said patting the empty space on the bed. she looked over at him and yawned again.

Then you’ll have to give it back…” Kari said simply, ignoring the remark of how she should be dead. She knew what had to be…and she knew somehow she would live as always. The half angel touched him, putting a hand on his cheek. She leaned her forehead against his, closing her eyes. Now that she knew what was going on she could focus, beginning to draw her energy back… It hurt a little but she said nothing, simply smiling at Ai. “It’s meant to be with me…for a reason Ai…. It will hurt… but I will live.” she said in a soft, promising voice.

Ai grit his teeth and closed his eyes so she wouldn't see what he was thinking as he broke off a bit of the energy he had taken and stored it away, she wouldn't be able to handle all of it at once, even if what she said was true. He hid it deep within his own life force so unless he took it out himself, the energy, along with himself, would both disappear.
Akuma smiled, "Nah, I'm used to sleeping on the floor...Do you have a spare blanket or something?" |
“d…don’t fight me… You can‘t keep it in….” Kari pleaded weakly as she felt a sudden energy shift, though she wasn’t sure what it was. She leaned against him, knowing her fever was returning but not caring. All she cared about was staying close to him, keeping them both safe though she felt herself weakened slightly from the sudden energy. She clutched him, kissing his lips gently. |
Tabitha got up and walked over to a drawer and opened it, then turned holding a blanket, "here" she said as she climbed back into the bed. she laid her head on the edge and looked at him, "so why are you really laying on my floor?"

Akuma laughed, pulling the blanket over himself, "Can't get anything past you huh?" He laid down, arms behind his head, "I don't want you by yourself while Allie's still loose. Don't want you getting hurt after all, there's only so much a safety charm can do after all."
Ai leaned down slightly, then scooped Kari up into his arms, effectively breaking the kiss. Something burned within him, something painful, but he gave it no thought as he walked to the dorms once again, "I can on one condition..." Ai whispered his voice trailing off. It would be his last resort. If Kari's fever got worse, he wouldn't have any other choice. |
Tabitha stared at him, "Why do you care so much?" she had wanted to ask that many times but couldnt work up the courage.

Kari let out a sigh as she felt herself picked up, holding close. Leaning into him she held close, simply ignoring the fever still as she held him. She knew he would not easily allow her to help him but she had to try. She looked up at him, not so sure of this condition. “What? “ She asked curiously, though she felt some of her energy lingering deeper in him where she couldn’t easily reached. She left it alone for now… but just for now. |
Ai smiled down at Kari, "It's nothing for you to worry about. Rest, you'll need it."
Akuma let his eyes linger on Tabitha's face for a while before they moved to the ceiling, "Hmm...I wonder..." |
Not until you tell me……” Was Kari’s simple answer, crossing her arms a moment. She was not going to rest till she found out what he was planning…even her fever seeming to shrink a little from her sheer stubborn will. ((hehe I get to play a loopy Kari again soon if her fever spikes <3))

Tabitha blinked her eyes and reached out and poked him, "Yes i do wonder" she wanted an answer from him.

Choosing not to answer Ai walked into Kari's room, "Do you want me to stay or should I go back to my room?"
A sly grin crossed Akuma's face, "Nah, I don't think I'll tell, it's too much fun keeping you guessing." |
You know the answer to that… “ Kari said simply, grabbing his hand and keeping him with her. She sat on the bed, frowning and looking towards him. “How am I supposed to honor a condition if I don’t know what it was” she said with only half a tease. She then lay on the bed a moment, her fingers still curled with his as she closed her eyes. She knew the fever would make her loopy, always did, but she didn’t want him too far from her…….

"The condition is not for you to honor, it is for me." Ai answered. He let Kari curl her fingers with his, but he left his own hand limp. His eyes drifted to the window and landed on the full moon. 'How...sad...'

Kari shook her head, simply holding his hand still and ignoring the fact he didn’t return the affectionate gesture. Kari would enjoy it, if he wasted his time not doing so that was his problem. She closed her eyes, shivering once as the fever caused a minor chill but it wasn’t dangerously high….though it was getting really close to high enough to cause her to be a little….loopy.

Ai'a eyes trailed to Kari's figure, 'Maybe...it's time...' He gently pulled his hand out from Kari's, "I love you..." he murmured. Then he walked directly into the moonlight so that he was completely bathed in the white glow. He needed to wait only a moment before a cloaked figure appeared before him. "Ai...?" Said boy grinned sadly, "I think...it's time."

I love you too….” Said Kari, shivering as she fought her fever. She felt a small delight but more worry, for she knew Ai well enough by now to know he would not say it without a serious situation about to occur. She stood, walking slightly closer. She looked to the cloaked figure but her eyes quickly went back to Ai. “Time?……for what” Kari asked, crossing her arms and beginning to take on her usual attitude to hide her inner fear. |
