Thea reached into Kite's pocket and took it out. She handed it to Simon silently.

Kite could smell something, but that's all he could do, was smell. It smelled good, so he focussed on that. Eventually the other senses came back, but it was the smell that woke him. "W-what is th-that?" He asked sleepily.

"Kite! Your alright!" Thea exclaimed, relieved. She had been really worried about him.

"Of course I'm alive" Kite said with a grunt, sitting up. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Uh, Simon?"
"Yes yes, I know, I have the tea right here." Simon handed kite a little white cup. The tea had been what he had smelled. "Drink it up before I have to knock you out again." Simon said with a chuckle. Kite looked down at the liquid. It was crystal clear. He shrugged and took a sip, then quickly spat it out. "This is disgusting!" He said. "That's because I put a few other things in there." Simon said with a smile. "Banana and onion juice really helps the medicine go down, doesn't it?"

Thea watched them, smiling slightly. These people were amusing to her.

"Now drink the rest up, or I'll make some more and force you to drink that too!" Simon laughed. It wasn't every day he go the chance to mess with his old students. Kite did as he was told, but his mind drifted back to his house. "Thea?" Kite said.

"Is something wrong?" Thea asked him.

Kite's eyes seemed darker than before. "You said that you could think of only one person who would take all the people away, who is it?" Simon remained silent.

"My brother. Kain. He is one of father's generals in the war and he leads is team with an iron fist. He is not the nicest person, but he would do anything for me. He was just looking for me." Thea said.

This was when Simon decided to speak. "I figured as much." Kite turned to him. "Back before you were born and I was a plucky young teacher, I had a student named Kain. This was way before the war had started." Simon walked over to kite. "I taught him the enchanted flame spell and he became obsessed with fire. I stopped teaching him when I saw what he would become, hoping I wasn't too late. Obviously, I was wrong." Kite stood up, feeling much better. His leg didn't even hurt any more. "Why didn't he take us? If he did this, wouldn't he come after you first?"

"He probably didn't know about you. But if had found you with me, you would be dead. It wouldn't matter how strong you are. He would destroy you to protect me. No matter what I said about it." Thea said.

"I guess he was looking for me." Simon said. "In frustration, he probably took everyone else. This teepee is enchanted. No magic from the outside will work."

"That might be it." Thea said.

"The question is, where do we go from here." Kite said. "You certainly can't stay in the town, they'll be back looking for me." Simon said, a hint of worry in his voice.

"I don't think he'll come back. He'll go look somewhere else." Thea said.

"And what makes you so sure about that?" Simon asked, taking a sip of his own tea.

"Because I know him. He will move on." Thea said.

"She has a point, Simon." Kite said. He was sitting on a chair, examining his blade. That battle with the vampire guard took out a number on this thing.... Kite thought, staring at his vague reflection in the dark metal.

"See. So this town should be safe for now." Thea said.

"It may appear to be that way, but Vampires make mistakes as well." Simon said matter-of-factly. "Even though he may not come back himself, he may send a few guards to make sure." Kite shivered at this, remembering the guard that had appeared at his house. He looked over to Thea.

"If he does, I can handle it." Thea said.

"No, I'll handle them. You two need to get to my younger brother and give him this." Simon handed him an old parchment with symbols Kite have never seen. Then he handed him a map. "This will guide you there. I would go myself, but I was cursed a while ago. I can't leave the town or it will burn, but that's a story for another time."

"Alright. Let's go Kite." Thea said, heading outside.

Kite said his goodbyes and followed Thea outside. "Is there something wrong? You seem a bit tense."

"Hmm..." Thea said, looking at him. "No. Nothing is wrong. I am fine." she said.
