"Ok, just making sure." Kite looked around the empty village, nothing had changed. Then he looked back at Simon's teepee. It was gone. "That's Simon for ya'." Kite said.

"We should get going." Thea said.

"Right." Kite pulled out the map Simon had given him. When he unrolled it, the landmarks popped up, not like in a child's pop up book, but like actual tiny trees and mountains popped out of the page. The rivers looked like they had flowing water, emptying into a vast ocean with foam and waves.

"Wow. I've never seen a map like that." Thea said, surprised.

"Again, that would be Simon for ya..." Kite said. Writing started to appear at the top of the page. "State the location." Kite looked at Thea, then back down to the map. "Er....Simon's brother's house?" Kite said to the map. The words dissapeared and a black line appeared from their location to a spot in the center of the forest, stopping on a red X.
"That wasn't there before." Kite said, looking toward Thea.

"Let's go." Thea said. She started walking.

"You know, you're walking in the wrong direction, right?" Kite said, pointing in the opposite direction.

"I knew that!" Thea exclaimed. She turned around and went in the direction he was pointing.

Kite started laughing and followed her. As they moved along the line on the map, it got slightly shorter. "We have a long way to go, we're gonna have to pass through a town. We should reach it by sundown." Kite said, looking down at the map while they walked. Of course, Thea could just carry him and run there, but Kite didn't know her limits. Plus the fact of her carrying him was slightly awkward.

"Alright." Thea said. "Though it would be faster if I carried you." she said.

Kite looked up at Thea. "Well, there's the fact that humans don't take to kindly to vampires. If we even get near there using your powers, we risk being spotted." He said.

"Alright. Then we walk." Thea said.

The two had been walking for about an hour. Kite was getting a bit tired. "Hey, Thea?" He said. "What was your life like? I mean, b'fore I found ya."

"It was great. I always had something to do." Thea said.

"Wow." Kite said. "That was a great explanation that told me absolutely NOTHING about your life." Kite said with a chuckle. "No, seriously, what was the life of a vampire like? Is it that different from us?"

"Its really not that different. The main thing that is different is that we are vampires and you are humans." Thea said.

"Hmmm..." Kite put his hand to his chin and didn't say anything else. They past a creek. Kite stared at his reflection in the water, lost in thought.

Thea watched him, waiting for him to say something else.

"Did you have any friends back before I found you? I mean, someone that isn't evil must miss you." Kite said after a few minutes of thought.

"The closest friends I ever had were my brothers." Thea said.

Kite looked at his feet. "Your brothers, huh?" He said, more to himself. He had been an only child all his life, heck, he didn't even have parents. Simon was the closest thing to a father he had.

"Father didn't like me leaving the castle. So he made me stay there." Thea said. "So the only people I had to talk to were my brothers."

"So wait, you couldn't go outside or anything? Not even to just stare at the stars?" Kite asked, appalled at this fact.

"I could go outside. I just couldn't leave the castle walls." Thea said.

Kite scratched his head and replied with a simple, "Ok." and kept walking.
