I've got a suggestion :D
I think that the site should have an AMV contest. The partecipants have to post a link to their AMV in a designated thread and everyone will go and vote on them. The top 3 with the highest votes will go into the final round and be voted on again.
The AMV should represent menewsha and their life. A good choice of song and anime to represent us here. Then the winner could be posted on the home page? Maybe? To keep it short, you could limit the number of AMV's that are allowed to be submitted on the thread. The winner could get a cool new outfit :D or some gold :D .. I dunno, I thought it could be a good idea :sweat: |
Hmm... wouldn't copyright laws be all over that thang?

That's the thing, I've some other sites do it... but possibly. I'm sure there is a way around it all. If the videos are posted on youtube.. you knwo how many AMV's are up there? Just make sure to write that you don't own the rights to the song.. blah..blah..blah...
I dunno... I just came up with the idea... if they like it... they can work out all the tough details lol |
I mean personally, yeah, I like the idea. A lot. It might even get me into making AMVs, which takes a TON of time. xP
Still, I'm just trying to think of mene... I think site could get in trouble if it appeared to be advocating the distribution and creation of material that's copyrighted... (lolz, that line sounded kinda important! xP) |
Well.. maybe it doesn't have to represent Mene then.. maybe it could just represent yourself. Maybe a character from an anime that looks like your avatar... But that still doesn't solve the issue if Mene hosted it.
Yeah, that line does sound important :O Sounds like something a lawyer would say. I was thinking about making an AMV just yesterday. I love doing it, even if it's just for myself but I know there are other people on the site who like it too, so I thought it could be fun. :D |

Yeah, I'm liking this idea, too, the more that I think about it. Like... a lot. Almsot having my brain be all excited that it'll be here soon, until I realize that this isn't an announcement, but instead just a suggestion. Reality hurts. T.T |
Aww, well maybe if this thread gets enough attention, I guess it's still rather early in some places, it might get noticed. Yay! Then maybe it COULD happen. How to keep it alive though... I don't even know how people keep threads going FOREVER.
So, maybe if we can also think up about ways the site wouldn't get in trouble. And I know adding stuff to the site costs a lot, they have said so a few times when people asked for more games but.... when the AMV gets posted on youtube there could also be a link to the community... mayhaps? You wouldn't happen to be a lawyer, now would you? |

I'm told I should be, though, but that's just I'm a kid that like to make people think they're wrong, just for the kicks. xP I'm sure some staff member will see this and fill in a bunch of our questions... And this probably wouldn't be a priority, but may get on the list. If youtube is host, it shouldn't be a problem, like someone said in the music-in-profile suggestion... posts can already contain youtube videos and such, so why can't other places? It's all being worked on. Menewsha's still growing! <3 Anywho, the site feedback's not that fast-paced, I keep checking back everyday to see if one of the recent topics is something that's been replied to, then I reply back. |
Wouldn't that have to be set up through AMV? This doesn't really seem like anything that is site related for menewsha. That is more of an idea for AMV then for Menewsha. =/

Bartuc, you seem like you think "AMV" is a company. It just stands for "Anime Music Video." Lol. Just clearing that up.
I personally think that unless you use Mene images to make a slideshow, or something of the sort, ti'd be a bit difficult to represent Mene with AMVs. Of course, if they wanted to hold a general Anime Music Video contest at all just for artistic value, and to see who could be the best "moviemaker" based on a given topic, that'd work. But I think it's more a user-run contest. And you have to consider the fact that there might also be an eventual lack of entrants, especially if you put constraints on what someone can use...not everyone has a Terabyte to save vidyas on. XD I know I don't. Otherwise I'd have the whole Inuyasha anime on my computer. Alas, I only have Trinity Blood and Tales of the Abyss. |
I think this is a bit of a Catch-22.
If it's Menewsha related, then we run the risk of infringing on copyright law. (Just because something is on Youtube or posted online doesn't mean it was legally used. :yes:) That could get the website in a lot of trouble. And if it isn't Menewsha related, then it really has no relevance to become an official contest. Everything we host needs to come back to Mene in some way, shape, or form. So yeah - I really agree that something like this would be fun, it just isn't too practical at this point. :yes: But in the past, we have hosted video contests. I had a dance contest during the Celes Paradi Event last year and I think that a lot of people enjoyed it. So while an AMV might not be possible, a video contest could happen again if there is enough interest. |

Yeah! A video contest sounds like fun too! I bet you would get a lot of particepation, especially since there is a huge flux in new members to the site. I do love the flash animation idea though. That would be hilarious :D
