comparing avatar sites - whaddaya think?
Hi everyone! So, I'm sure many people have account on other avatar sites or just moved to this one altogether.
I have only heard of Gaia, I don't know of any avatar site, if you do, what are they?? So, why did you decide to move here? I know many changes have occurred in Gaia and people got a bit tired - honestly, I can't give up Gaia, but I still wanted to try this site out to see what it was all about! But I know that for some of you, you got uber frustrated and just decided to move away from Gaia (or another site) If so, what was the final straw for you? What was that one thing that you just couldn't take? There are things I like about both sites too, like I like the fact our avatars are bigger here and the choices we have for hair and body type too! As far as outfits - both sites have some awesome items!! The gold system here definitely seems to be more in control and I am so glad that pretty much everything is obtained by gold we have earned, I think that is the one thing about Gaia that just really got me. I mean yes the economy was, well crazy, to say the least but what bothers me the most is the cash shop. The whole point of the online community is to have fun, and get some nice things for what you work for, but Gaia has not only put up a cash shop, but thrown in the majority of the really interesting items in there, and buying them with gold, in the marketplace, can get quite difficult. Pretty much they gave the attention to evolving items in the cash shop and even the monthly collection items got kinda bad, which used to be the nicest items. See, I agree with t he monthly donation, I think helping the site it nice and we even get a cute little reward. But having a plethora of items we have to pay real money for? That just doesn't seem right - without even going into the disadvantage to those who can't just donate whenever we feel like it. Even though I don't wanna give Gaia up, I'm not as active as I used to be, mainly I'm just in my Phantom of the Opera guild, in Gaia fishing and changing my outfit every so often. Still I am excited about trying things out here! I probably will just log on to both and enjoy the communities to their fullest! So, what do you all think? Any opinions? Also a couple questions form a newbie! 1) Is thee something like tektek.org (which is for gaia) for menewsha? I'm just wondering if there is an easy way for us to see all the items offered in the site 2)Is there a way to find all the threads we've written, so it is easier to check for replies? Thanks guys! |
To the first question, yeah there is something like tektek.org, go to the Avatar discussion thread and it should be somewhere there in one of the stickies.
I've gotten bored of Gaia after one month and never looked back. Menewsha is the first avatar site I've been to in years, and to think I joined because of a Facebook ad <3 |

I have several Gaia avatars and was on there for years, but I saw an ad for Menewsha on facebook a couple days ago and decided to give it a go since the graphics looked good. Turns out they're AWESOME! I like Menewsha's graphics a lot better than Gaia's. It's so much more detailed, MUCH more customizable in terms of the basic look of your avatar. And you don't have to pay for new hair! D: That really bugged me. So so far I'm LOVING Menewsha! ^.^

A comparison of sites: what do you think?
So....as far as avatar sites go, I am on Gaia, Menewsha, and Solia.
I think Menewsha and Solia have friendlier people than on Gaia, but Gaia has a much larger variety of things to do, items, ways to earn gold, people, etc. However, I don't like how money-hungry/ corporate Gaia has gotten, nor do I like all their new updates that make the site harder to use. Gold may be easier to earn, but the inflation is ridculous. I like how Menewsha gives you more gold the more you type. The avatars look more elegant than Gaia's. Solia's avatars are nice too...but the only way really to earn gold is posting; there are no games or other ways really unless you open up an art shop. Though, solia does have some nice items. They also allow you to dye some of the clothes...so that's cool. On both Menewsha and Solia I wish it was easier to search for specific things in the shops, by color, item type, price, etc. Solia has this to some extent, but it could still be improved. While I like how you can earn more or less gold for your posts depending on quality/length here, I don't like the 500g per day limit. Maybe 1000g would be better, if they have to have a cap on it. Not like I come near that anyways =P I have played a little on some other avatar related sites...but not enough to really be familar with them. But what about you? What sites do you visit? What do you like/dislike about each of them? |

You can get 1000 a day on the games if you have a mule. The cap is only for the games. The only cap on posts is 20 per post. Other than that you can make as much as possible. Quote:

I'm considering these two other flash-based games as avatar sites, because, well... they have avatar-customizing features! So there.
My all-time favorites are Menewsha, Habbo, and TirNua. Habbo's a bit more kiddyish, especially given its lack of community. I haven't been active over there since... May? I've been there for almost four years, and I've always loved it, no matter how money-hungry they seem to get. TirNua is a bit newer - it's been around just over a year, and perhaps is a bit too primitive-looking for most of you to appreciate. But if you were ever a fan of The Sims Online (TSO), which was later known as EA-Land (EAL), I believe you'd appreciate it. The Developers behind TirNua were all Developers/Community Mods over on TSO/EAL before it was subsequently closed and abandoned. Again, it's got the Sims1-like feel, although it's entirely its own creation, with a few Sims-like qualities: a queue bar, a custom content feature coming in the coming weeks... skills... and perhaps a few more. Although TirNua's based around the environment and the harnessing of electrical energy and using it to create other things, and also has some gardening features as well. Blah, sorry for the ramble. I hope it doesn't look like some shameless site plug. :| |

my favorite sites for avatar use is probably gaiaonline but my second is totally menewsha.gaia is mainly my first because they give you a closet of clothes and the clothes they have are realy cheap.menewsha on the other hand is kind of expensive, but i do like the way they always have the same base avatar settings to chose from.(in gaia i believe you have to buy things if you want to change them on your avatar)

I was a Gaian for years. Then I saw this site in August at my friend house when she was on Gaia. I told her to apply because I was going too. At first I didn't like it here. For quite some time I wasn't on here as much. Because I was still attach to Gaia some what. Then I quit Gaia and been on here for some time now. It really is a nice site too. Though Gaia is just crazy now. I am barley on there because I don't even know what is going on in that place. I use to be so attach to it. Someone on my MSN told me his gf waited for the Gaia's item to come out and it excited her. I told him that was stupid and he thought I meant his gf. Which was stupid of him. Now we aren't even friends. Even though he was an online friend. =/ Still a friend was a friend.
