Is any one else a competitive player, or even just a casual one?
ITT: List your deck, your play experience, why you love magic, favorite card My current deck for Type 2 competitive play is Vampire Agro ( I know, I know, cliche but it is one of the top decks). I have been playing on and off for 5 years now, since I was 13. Why do I love magic? It's a fast game, I wont say I am one for patience. Its always evolving, and everyone can develop a unique play style. My favorite card is Llanowar Elf! He's my trusty companion who is there for me in every core set! |
I've tried to play it dozens of times.
But I could just never get into it. I'm not much on card games outside of the casual. I think the last time I was into a card game was pokemon. xD When it first came out. |

I played between the ages of eight and ten.. I still have cards laying around. I enjoyed Magic, it was entertaining. I liked my Sliver deck.. It was hard to beat.. But my favourite card was ah, Sera's Angel.. or something like that. Another was umm.. Crozan Cloudscraper, I think.

she was a 4/4 flier with vigilance for 5 mana and then they put out baneslayer angel. The 5/5 first striker flier with lifelink for the same cost. Now Serra isn't worth the card stock she is printed on. |
I don't play MTG much anymore, but I have about 7 decks... >_>;
I think about 2 white, one black, one red, one blue, ect... xD; no favorite card... If it were yugioh I'd say the harpies, but it's not. xD Heck, I even have DIGIMON cards! |
I played in tournaments way back when but haven't seen the likes of one in years.
Here's the deck I've been playing with: 2 Feldon's Cane 2 Arcane Laboratory 3 Capsize 3 Forbid 2 Time Element 1 Chaos Moon 2 Fork 1 Soldier of Fortune 1 Divine Intervention 3 Enlightened Tutor 2 Flickering Ward 2 Humility 4 Mother of Runes 4 Peacekeeper 1 Replenish 1 Shahrazad 2 Worship 4 City of Brass 5 Island 3 Maze of Ith 3 Mountains 6 Plains 4 Tundra (I found this deck build on a website a long time ago and it has proven as annoying as I had hoped it would be hehehe.) |
Oh, good old times... good old times.
I was collecting (never really got into playing - I was more into those TCGs that made you build up your forces for dozens of rounds before the fighting started :D) between ages 14 and 20. I spent a fortune back then. :P Building decks was a lot of fun (though of course thanks to never playing I don't know whether they were any good), I especially enjoyed building Red/Artifact ones. Or the occasional suicidal Black one. <3 |
I only know about breeding pit because I make a joke about it.
Anyway, I was a casual watcher. My exboyfriend used to play. He used to play with his deck for hours. (HA!) |
I used to play Magic, but haven't in ages. I was an old school player, I used the Stasis, Necromancer and Burn decks :) They technically belonged to my brother, but he let me borrow them whenever I wanted so long as I didn't lose or destory any of the cards.
I got out of playing when the new school versions came in XP |
I don't think I've ever even heard of it before... o.o; *Googles*

I used to play it a little bit. When my brother used to play it. He had an Elf deck that I borrowed one day. I went to school and played it against someone and I got thrashed. I have to say I'm not that good at it. But it's fun if you are winning. |
I love this game. I play it when I can, mostly with my sister. I run a squirrel token deck, evil little thing that is very fun in group games, while she plays the white deck from hell; angels, circles of protection, and life gain. I can only beat that when I hit her fast. Fortunately, my deck is the quicker of the two. I love flashback effects and have fun with high-powered instants. Favorite card? Might of Oaks with it's giant squirrel and instant pump-up action. Best moment? Playing a tag-team game, I attacked my opponent and declared that the squirrels were after his nuts. Keep in mind that when playing squirrel tokens, the maturity level of the game will drop. I made my little declaration, "They're after your nuts!" and the guy responded by pointing at his partner and shouting, "Go for his, they're bigger!" The thing that made it beautiful was the look on his partner's face. Ah, good times...

@Myzrii: I don't think I could ever sell my cards. After all the time I spent acquiring the cards and making/playing with those decks over the years it would be like selling a piece of my soul. =p |

I have quite a lot first edition rares, but unless I was starving (and I'm not quite sure even then :D) I just couldn't sell them. It took 6 years to collect them! :P |

I should totally remake my burn deck, though. Man, I loved that thing. Red/black is one of the most evil combination ever. I only really stopped running it because it was useless against my sister's obscene life gain, thank you Life Burst Atalia the Sammite Master or whatever the name of that... that thing was... Yes, my sister can gain life faster than a red/black deck can burn it... |

Blue decks can be one of the most annoying adversaries, to be certain, but when you're whipping out enough mana that you can afford to run them through their counters before you run out of options they're not that bad. That's why I like my green deck. I get a lot of mana pretty fast, which is good because of how often I abuse flashback costs. I love flashback...

Haste is fun. Sometimes I'm sorely tempted to mix some elves in with my squirrels just to be completely and totally evil. I think the meanest combo I've ever seen was when a little old man used Traumatize on himself... which sends half the deck to the graveyard... and then played a second card, I can NOT recall the name, that revived every monster in his graveyard for one turn.
One turn was enough. One turn was mooooore than enough. Because he WOULD have been running a few trample cards! |
