I'm pretty short myself~! XD
Bye King! |
Baaaaaaaack ^_^
Welcome back King!
funny you'd come back just as I'm about to leave... XD
I was always a history buff in highschool and when I was younger. I've read the bible cover to cover twice and read various parts of it at other times during bible study etc. However I'm not a christian any longer. The knowledge does come in handy, however!
Wow, what made you change?
I've read it. I go to certain verses when I'm down too. The Bible is great <3
Really? What verses help you out?
Quote:
Christians have NO right to call persecution when they want to take away all rights that don't even belong to that faith (and plenty do, they often get their way and push unfair laws unjustly on people, like the banning of same sex marriage.) When you're in the majority, and can still follow your beliefs, but get angry or upset when someone disagrees with you and think nobody should be able to think or do what is against YOUR dogma.. that is persecution, not against you, but against those whom you disagree with. |
Well, I like to express my beliefs, but I also try to be respectful of other's point of views. I don't try to insult other's beliefs.
But I do often run across people who aren't as respectful and who like to bash Christians/my beliefs. |
No, I'd say the religion people are killed for most throughout the world today would be Christianity. Especially in the Islam ruled territories. They are dragged out into the streets, beaten, stabbed, and stoned to death for not subscribing to the Islamic dogma pushed down their throats from Birth. I welcome people to disagree with me. They are just that, welcome to disagree with me. :)

I will say this: I went through boot camp in the December of '09 and January of '10. While I'm not Christian, there were no copies of the Tanakh at the chapel for me to pick up, so I ended up reading the Bible at bedtime as encouragement and relaxation. There's something to be taken from every story, whether it's historical facts that catch the eye, life lessons and morals, or even very cool turns of phrase and idiom (Song of Songs, anyone?)
Now I'm at another training command, having gotten through boot camp. I finally got to a rabbi and got a copy of the Tanakh, but my boot-camp Bible sits on the shelf next to it. And if I ever get a Qu'ran, I'll add that to them. |
Interesting.
What is Tanakh? I've never heard of it.
Anyways King, there are a lot of Christian haters out there. T_T |
Tanakh is the assembled Old Testament as used by Jewish people. The Torah, which is the 5 books of Moses; Nevi'im, which is the Prophets, and Ketuvim, which are the Writings.
Aye there are Ful, But it's usually what's in us that they are hating rather than us ourselves. "They Hated me first." Are Christ's words.
Ahhh, I see. I know of the Torah though.
The other two parts include things like the prophets--Isaiah, Ezekial, Jeremiah, Job. Then you have Psalms and Proverbs (I love Psalm 23, and some of the more raucous Psalms of David.) And the Song of Solomon, the Song of Songs.
So that makes you Jewish, right?
I am Jewish, yes.
But I'm one of those Jews who thinks Jesus was a great teacher and leader. ;) |
That's good. What do some Jewish people think about Jesus?
Most consider him to have been a good guy--we just don't acknowledge him being the Messiah or rising from the dead.
It's kinda like how I view Martin Luther King Jr.--he taught good ideas, way before his time, and got killed for it. (And we get his birthday off from school >.<) |
Interesting. What do you think about the writings of Isaiah? Specifically Isaiah 52-53. Have you ever read it?
Are you talking to me or Hei?
