When it comes to Christianity, I like the guidelines of 'love thy neighbor', 'thou shalt not kill' and other such things. I live in a city with a church every few blocks away no matter where you are and there are quite a few Christians who would sit down to a feast with me on one of the Wiccan Sabbats. However in addition to all these churches, we have several Christians who really give their faith a bad name, because we only see the 'fire and brimstone' side of it. I'd rather die remembering those worshipping Jesus as the people who helped their community, not forcefully converted everyone with threats of 'eternal torment'. |
Well I understand what you're saying about the fire and Brimstoners. People should focus more on the Love of Christ than that. but for anyone who doesn't ever get saved. they do go to Hell. That much is certain. I didn't write the Book, nor did I make the rules. But I respect your right to worship whatever you choose luv.

I like how in my city, you see a church every few blocks. <3

What happens when we die?
|
Quote:
Are you asking someone through a scientific point of view, or a spiritual one? Are you asking what happens to our bodies, or our minds, or our spirits? |
The Bible states in the New Testament for the believers in Christ that is,"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord."
|
I believe that when we die, our bodies rot away, but our souls are either recycled and reborn, or they go to the summerlands. All who die find peace, because all immorality is punished in life by the three-fold law.
|
Interesting.

Hm.
In terms of karma, I'm not so sure that I believe that we get punished or rewarded within the lifetime of our physical bodies. There are too many people who do evil things, and continue to live like that all their lives, seemingly without any repercussions, and likewise, there are too many good people who try to live decent lives who receive nothing in reward but more trouble. I think there must be some kind of reckoning upon our deaths, where justice is meted out. In that sense, I whole-heartedly believe in some higher power to whom we answer upon leaving our physical bodies. No, I really can't believe in the three-fold law - at least, not as it pertains to one single lifetime. |
Quote:
However, the three fold law cannot be proven, so I'm not surprised you don't believe in it. I have a feeling reincarnation may exist as well for the sake of destiny. If someone doesn't do what they were born to do in life, perhaps they could do it in a second life? So I could agree with you to some extent in terms of Karma affecting us in other lives. But for me it all boils down to what can and cannot be proven. So far all that is proven is that our bodies feed the earth, so we'll wait and see I guess. :D |
God is Justice as well as love, mercy, and Holiness. for Justice is Holy. Everyone who does evil will be punished in finality. They will not inherit the Earth. The Meek will. Those who strive for Good will be rewarded. I know things look bad now, and it is. But with God there is always hope that the better tomorrow is coming.

My sister poked fun at me and said I'm a bad christian. ;_;
Which I suppose I am? Sometimes I don't feel like going to church twice on Sundays. And instead of love...I judge my brother, who is a thief and has stolen money from me in the past. And I still think he is a thief and just not a very good person, who values his friends over his family and such. |
I know how you feel Ful, I really do. When my brother was alive, I didn't always feel love towards him because of every thing he'd do that hurt my father and our family. And when he died I remembered the last thing I told him, it wasn't nice now I wrestle with it still. But you know, there isn't any Condemnation in Christ. No one can judge you justly but Jesus. No one else. Not even ourselves.

I love the stories
I hate most of the people who obsess over it People don't realize that the bible they are reading is missing a lot of its original text due to translation and less-than-innocent 'editing'. All in all, I don't like the bible; I'd even say I hate it, mostly because a lot of people take it far too seriously and grow close-minded and hateful. The Christian bible in the eyes of most Christians is considered 'evidence' of their god being the only god and the 'right' god, even though he was not the only god, and others were there first. |
Well when you're not of something that's true it's easy to hate something that is. Your very statements prove my point. And mine was first, and is the only true one. Why because he says he is. For my heart to consider anything else is not within it and would be Evil. You may say I'm close minded or obsessive and I'll let you because that's your opinion. But narrow is the path that leads to life and few find it, but wide is the road that leads to destruction. This doesn't by any mean I'm perfect. God, no way am I close to it. I simply do the best I can by God's grace and asking forgiveness when I fall and sin still. All God ever wanted was a family and to live in us, from the beginning that's all he wanted.

I do read the bible, but it is more for educational purposes. I enjoy looking through different religions and learning the differences and similarities between them. I personally don't follow one specific religion, because I don't believe that one alone is completely correct.
I have a more accurate version of the Holy Bible in my home library and I do like to go through it from time to time. It's just that there are many instances where people are misquoting the Bible. I like to get the original lines from the original source. Out of curiosity, has anyone else ever gone through the bible in Latin? |
Oh really a more correct version? What version would that be ^_^ I'd love to get a copy of it some time.
|
"Holy Bible King James Version" ^^ I'm not actually sure if it's more correct, but it's probably better than the teen copies of it. It's actually fully online too! I just like to have because the text is really beautiful =) I also have a really old leather binding version of the bible, though there seems to be no publishing information and I'm not sure where it came from :\ My father had it before he gave it to me. I haven't gone through it much, but it appears to be in Latin.
