Samurai-based anime!

Alright so basically I have an unhealthy obsession with samurai because of their awesomeness, and I would like to get into some new samurai-based anime. The samurai anime I have is as follows:

Samurai 7
Samurai Deeper Kyo
Eight Clouds Rising (sort-of samurai-ish)
Kenshin/Samurai X

I have seen Jubei-Chan and the Lovely Eyepatch as well.

The main thing I'm looking for is something mostly serious which perhaps focuses on the actual battle/struggle of the samurai, but really... I'm not too picky. Samurai = <3 to me.

I loved Samurai 7. I first saw it on IFC, but then purchased the box set. The story line is great. Have you seen the original movie it is based on? It was made back in the fifties, and I am sure you can find it subtitled. (its live action)

As for more Samurai animes, I have no clue..you named all the ones I thought of.

Rurouni Kenshin is absolutely one of my favorite animes. I'm a total history buff, so the fact that the series is a historical fiction makes me love it even more. They even mention real people, which I think is awesome. I know that there's a lot about it that's over the top, but I still love the series regardless. And you can't help but love the characters. Hell, I even like some of the bad guys xD

Hmmmmmmm....other Samurai animes...*thinks*...uuuhhh...there's Afro Samurai...though that's a more cracky kind of series. Samurai Champloo

Samurai anime...

Well, there's Samurai Champloo which is full of hilarity, but isn't a serious samurai show at all, so really, it probably doesn't even count as a samurai anime. xD;;

Then there's Peacemaker which features the Shinsengumi...

Hmmm... That's all I can really think of off the top of my head. I loved Samurai 7, too. And RuroKen is awesome, especially the OVAs. BUT, YES! If I think of any more I'll throw them your way. ^^

i saw a few episodes of Samurai 7. it was really good. i need to finish it someday. i haven't seen any other samurai anime, but since i like to right and draw manga, i would probably someday do a samurai manga. i just need to learn more about the samurai era.

Samurai 7 is one of the best of all anime but, to me atlest it's the best Samurai anime out there.

But, then it is based off of Seven Samurai one of the greatest films of all time and without a doult the best Japanese film ever made. No way the creaters of Samurai 7 could have done it badly and still have jobs in Japan ;)

I haven't really watched anything Samurai related.
The most I've watched is Samurai Champloo, and I only watched two episodes.

it's not really an anime but a cartoon: 'samurai jack' :)

Yep yep! Certainly saw the Seven Samurai a long time ago (And the Western "The Magnificent Seven" is also based off the "seven Samurai")

Oh yeah, Samurai Champloo! I always forget about that one. XD

And Samurai Jack was so awesome. I wish they finished it. :/

i'm not sure if it's been made into an anime yet, but the manga Kaze Hikaru i thought was really good. :)

Oh, there's also the movie called Sword of the Stranger. It's a gorgeous piece of work with some pretty violent samurai/ronin fighting action. It's one of my favorite movies, really. The plot is a bit... lacking, but the animation is AMAZING. I highly recommend it. ^^

Here's a couple preview images for it...

Well I'm so glad you liked it! The animation just blew me away when I saw it, so I recommend it to everyone... XD;;; Bones does amazing work.

EDIT: Oh, and I thought of another title you might want to try. I don't believe it's been licensed yet, though. It's called Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto. A mouthful, I know. XD It's kind of a historical fiction type show with a supernatural twist. Here's a link to a little description about it.

*marks you down as a wealth of information*

Haha yes, the animation was absolutely beautiful. I've been out of the anime scene for awhile now, and I didn't even know that it existed, but now I do! Yay for more pretty animation! It's always nice to find male-audienced, serious anime that has wonderful animation and CG'd eyecandy, haha.

And after your previous suggestion, I'll certainly be checking this one out, too. Danke, danke, danke! :3
