A slight smile made it's way onto Fayn's face, and the blind dark elf used one forearm to stop the blade. The ring of metal followed the sparks that fizzed out into the darkness - the weapon master had met the katana with his bladed bracer. With a flick of his opposite wrist, the short-haired drow brought forth a small glowing blade no bigger than his palm.
With no warning, Fayn moved back from the Tengu, side-stepping and bringing the small shiv jabbing down into the soft spot in Truinthil's shoulder. The blade felt like more of a prick - no lasting pain. In fact, the area seemed to become numb with time, spreading slowly through the rest of his arm. Fayn spun away from his enemy, standing tall and ready once more. He didn't turn his head toward Truinthil; he didn't need to look in his opponent's direction. Selk watched in silence, wondering how things would turn out. From what she'd seen, Truinthil could match, and possibly overwhelm, the blind drow. Her full lips drew into a smile as she followed their swift movements. You can do this. |
Grimacing at the sting in his shoulder and the numbness that followed, Truinthil pressed on already using his ability to shape shift on a cellular level to rid his arm of the numbness. While working that he continued his attack. Instead of backing off he reached under his coat with his blade held reversed then snapped his hand towards Fayn releasing two small throwing knives. One flew for the man's head and the other his chest. He would have to block or dodge them, again putting him in a position that would be difficult to avoid being struck. Still moving forward only a few feet behind the knives and nearly as fast as they were traveling, Truinthil brought his blade forward again, holding it by his right hip in preparation to thrust either straight forward were Fayn to block, or to either the left or the right were Fayn to dodge the knives by moving to either side.
|
The drow knocked the blades away with two swift movements, taking a step back to meet Truinthil's thrust with a parry. He let out a slight exclaimation when the tip of his opponent's weapon tapped against his leather chestpiece.
Without admitting his defeat, the dark elf smiled slightly. Pushing forward, he attempted to knock Tru off balance with a swift thrust of his small blade, following up with a punch from the other side. ((LOL, battle scenes are so hard to do. :XD I take forever to come up with them. O.0)) |
Grinning as the tip of his blade met the leather armor Fayn wore Truinthil elegantly performed a back handspring avoiding the thrust and punch both. Once on his feet again he spun and ran towards the wall jumping and taking a few steps upward before turning once more and pushing away from the wall with all the force he could muster, sending him through the air a good several feet above Fayn, blade raised behind his head before chopping downward as he dropped, putting not only the force of a swing behind his katana, but the entire weight of his body as well.
((Oh, but they are so much fun! )) |
((LOL, I'm glad you enjoy them so.))
Fayn heard the movement, and sidestepped at the last possible second. He had barely been able to dodge the movement - it didn't seem to help that he was blind. A true weapon's master from the Underdark didn't need to see. The dark elf ducked low, sweeping Truinthil's feet out from under him when he landed. He moved in then, trying to rest his blade against the Tengu's collar. |
Being tripped, Truinthil landed on his back, but was hardly defenseless. Lifting his legs he spun them so as to turn his body in an almost dance like motion that provided a quick offense and a light defense as well, seeing as it would be hard to move close to him while his feet kicked through the air and in getting close, Fayn would likely get caught with a boot to the shoulder. This spin move only lasted perhaps two seconds before Truinthil planted his hands against the ground and launched himself through the air away from Fayn, landing on his feet lightly, a grin still on his lips. If this went on too much longer Truinthil thought he might have to revert to his normal form so as to be at his best.
|
The spin served it's purpose in knocking Fayn back, but before the weapon master could move into the battle once more, Selk stepped forward and grabbed his shoulder. "Tell me he would be a good one for battle."
Fayn took a deep breath, letting it out slowly. "You already knew he was." The blind drow nodded once, and sheathed his small blade. "This man is a fast, brutal fighter." Selk nodded, a smile on her face. "Good." She motioned for Truinthil to follow her, and stepped back toward the door. "Then we will be out of your hair, weapon master." It was time to eat and rest for the night . . . perhaps go over the battle plans once more during dinner. Tomorrow, the true battle began. Fayn bowed his head in farewell, staying in his place until the two were out of sight. Something was going on. Selk played it cool, but there was something in her voice that gave it away. What is happening? |
Hardly even breathing heavily Truinthil stood straight and bowed to the Weapons master. It was a good fight, though his body ached to finish it completely. He stood calm though and did not reveal the lust for blood his body yearned to fulfill. Calmly he followed Selk, sheathing his katana while doing so. He took a quick peek over his shoulder though as he exited and saw something written in the man's face. He did not like what he saw, but just as quickly as he had looked, his eyes were forward again, not even a twitch of an eyebrow or emotion to give away that he had spotted something. Once he and Selk had already moved for a couple minutes, away from the room whence they had come, he spoke softly. "He suspects. I could have killed him tonight."
|
((Just to clarify . . . LOL, Fayn is blind. :P He may show he suspects something with his movements, but it's hard to do so with one's gaze if it's covered.))
Selk shook her head. "Of course he suspects something. He wouldn't be alive if he didn't learn to suspect." Her violet eyes trailed back to the Tengu, and a smile crossed her onyx features. "But Fayn will think of me as everyone else does. He will think that I'm planning something for the future. I always take my time with things." Stepping back into her own hallway, Selk chuckled. "We couldn't kill him tonight. My mother would notice if we did. Fayn is never one to miss his nightly visits to the matron." The dark elf cleared her throat, running a slender hand through her braids. "I'm going to change. Bring everyone out of their rooms, or from where ever they may be hiding. We need to eat, and I have something special for tonight." |
((Don't have to see the eyes. Facial expressions, body language, all things are useful when reading a person.))
Having left the man alive didn't sit well with Truinthil, but if it was part of her plan he would go with it. It wasn't his plot, it was hers. Nodding at her orders to gather everyone else he lengthened his stride and broke away from her, heading to each door that held another of their group and knocking hard, but not pounding on each. With each door that would open he would relay the message to gather for a meal to each person. |
((That is very true... that's how I read people ))
Having been in a meditative state for a while Vik felt the presence moving towards his door but he waited until there was a knock to move. He got up and met Truinthil at the door and received the message from their matron and nodded accordingly and stood in the hallway awaiting the rest of his companions to join them. As he waited he thought about how tomorrow would be the day that they all waited for and he had thirsted for but now there was something that would bind him to this land until he could let go. What would happen to them or him or her? Everything was uncertain as of right now but there was no point in dwelling on such things right now it would all be clear tomorrow. |
((Hahah, I'm such a dork. I just reread what you wrote, and I was just tired. I thought you saw something in his eyes, but you said no such thing. ^_^ So yes, I agree with you - body language is key.))
|
Holly stood up slowly when the knock on her door came. Alex stood up and gave her a kiss before they walked out into the hallway.Trunithill and Vik were in the hallway. They stood silently waiting to know what was next.
|
Dante had waited quietly in the corner the whole time Selk and Truinthil were having the fight with the so called blind faun, and as more people gathered outside the hallway, he knew they were finished. He wondered briefly whether Tru had been able to kill the faun, but he didn't ask, nor did he move from where he was. Being in the room they had been in only moments before Tru and Selk had left, he watched them silently.
|
((*cough* He's a dark elf named Fayn. :P))
Selk popped her head out of her bedroom, motioning for everyone to enter. "You get a king's banquet tonight," she said, opening her stone door as wide as she could. "Another bit of thanks before anything drastic happens." Glancing to Vik, she inclined her head with a slight smile. "Anything, anything at all, and it will be served to you. Such is the way of portals and magical trinkets." Stepping into the midde of the room, the drow sat down at the long table that had been set up there. At the head of the stone surface, Selk pointed to a large covered tray. "Holly, you go first. Say what you want, and open the lid. It gives you anything . . . that you can eat, that is." Reaching down, she picked up a bit of elven food from her own plate, already set before her, and nibbled on it. The bread was good, and it was filling. A good combo, especially in the Underdark. Watching her gathered companions, the dark elf mentally retraced the battle in her mind - if they were lucky, they would live to see another night. |
Balthazar walked silently up behind Selk, "Dont worry everyone knows their part, nothing you can do now." he whispered into her ear before taking a seat at the table. Grabbing a roast dear flank, he neating cut bit by bit and ate it.
|
Neam looked at the covered dish. "Anything, even alive? I prefer to catch my own, most of the time."
((sorry, I've been busy lately...)) |
{So have I.}
Holly stepped forward and up to to the tray. She, for some odd reason was craving chocolate. "Chocolate and..." Her voice became really quiet "A glass of blood." Before opening it she decided on one more thing. "And a giant cookie!" Holly was excited and Alex laughed softly. Although the cookie would seem to magically dissapear right after she at it the taste was worth it. "Open it?" She asked her hand on the lid of the tray. |
Selk grinned, letting out a small laugh. "Yes," she said, moving to lean against the table. "Go ahead and open it, Holly." It was then that she realized - she enjoyed this group's company. It was too bad that they might dwindle upon the 'morrow.
Looking to Neam, the drow's purple eyes brightened. "That's something I have never tried before," she admitted. "Go ahead and see. Perhaps some little animal will come dashing out when you lift the lid." ((I don't mind delays. :XD It seems to be a new fad.)) |
Holly opened the lid and smiled. "It works! That is so cool." She giggled and took her food moving to stand next to Alex and watch the others to see what they got. Really she was interested in seeing Neam's food and if it would come alive or not. Alex took the glass and cookie from her while she opened up the chocolate bar and eating it slowly. It was a good thing she wasn't a human anymore her eating habbits had always been so bad.

Vik was actually glad to see that everyone seemed to be in high spirits, tomorrow might be the last time some of them open their eyes to a new day but he would worry about that as it came. Thinking of what he wanted to eat, something sweet sounded nice right now... but he would go for a bowl of human blood for its nutrients and a large bowl of blackberry dumplings. He figured the latter would suffice to quench his need for something sweet. Pulling the top off of the platter he saw his meal sitting in front of him in a relatively splendid fashion. Wasting no time he drank the bowl of blood non-stop so he could take his time and enjoy the sweetness of his desert. Looking over at Selk the half breed couldn't hide a small grin that graced his lips, the strength she had demonstrated had caught his attention early and is what drew him to agree to this mission. It was finally almost the time for him to do his part then see what happens from there.
