Stupid Ads on Webpages

I don't understand why there are so many stupid ads online. Has anyone found this as annoying as I have? This ad was on my email when I opened it up, and it just...bothers me. I don't know; I find it gross and just...stupid. It's a waste of so many bites and other stuff...and who would be dumb enough to believe it? I don't know why this random crab bugs me like this, but it does. O.o

Anyone else find this crap annoying, too?

yes, that stuff is annoying. But ANY ad is annoying and stupid in my book!

And that picture is a piece of sculpture... the artist did/does "realistic" things like that (can't remember his name right now- sorry). It's designed to make you stop, think and wonder about it, but it IS sculpture, nothing else.

Ahh, now realizing that it's a piece of art I respect it more, but the ad and how they twisted it grossed me out.

I just don't like those stupid ads. Blahh.

Ads.

LOL! I've definitely never seen that one. I have seen some pretty strange ones though. Like an ad for fake penis reduction pills. >_> I use Adblock now though. At least on my main computer. Ads are just so annoying. There's the occasional funny one that makes me to WTF but it's nicer to not have them. Though for some reason they don't all seem to get blocked. I think I don't know how to customize it very well to block the things I want blocked.

Ponta 11-05-2009 05:25 AM

lol

It's a pretty interesting ad to get in your e-mail. I would suppose it's better than porn or "hey, would you like a penis enlargement?" Uh, no thanks - I'm a girl.

Stupid ads are one thing. OBVIOUSLY PHOTOSHOPPED ads are another thing entirely.

Haha, now that is just bad.

"Look - not only did I get a super ripped body, I got a great tan too!"

Is it even the same person?

pianochan 11-05-2009 05:57 AM

I have no idea. The lighting is completely different and I am ashamed that this ad was cleared for publishing.

xKindred_Silencex 11-05-2009 11:51 AM

I've seen those adds many times they get really annoying. I only have a pop-up blocker.

Evetwo 11-05-2009 12:40 PM

I do not believe for a minute that those pics aren't either of two different people, or doctored somehow. It's not that hard to photoshop stuff like that second picture if you know how, apparently. The other day I watched a friend of mine take a photo of a man with glasses and remove the glasses. It was absolutely fascinating. He only used a couple different tools to do it, too.

Codette 11-05-2009 02:06 PM

Yep, you can do amazing things with photoshop! (Trust me I'm in a Graphic Design course at my college). I've altered so many pictures, it's almost hilarious now...

Lynds 11-05-2009 03:22 PM

Most of those ads have been edited using photoshop, like the one where it's showing you all these peoples teeth and one persons mouth is like rotted zombie black colour or something.. as if it could get like that.. I hope not anyway  stupid internet ad's :stare:

p o p p e t ♥ 11-05-2009 04:15 PM

Wow, that's really disturbing actually haha what the hell... I know what you mean about retarded ads all over the place, but in all honesty I don't think I have EVER seen an ad like that, ever. Haha I really hope I don't that fucking weird.

Lexington 11-05-2009 04:18 PM

Heheh I got tired of those ads as well.
I kept complaining to my boyfriend and he told me about No Script for Firefox. Basically gets rid of them.. and everything else.
You have to tell it what to allow, because it will block just about everything.
On the plus side, no more ads and the browser runs faster.

Monkey 11-05-2009 04:41 PM

Funny how most everyone here is complaining of the ads, but the ads still exist, so they must get some people to click on them, or they wouldn't exist any more. I've always wondered at the types of people who DO end up clicking these ads, though - and (scary thought) which ads they end up clicking!

Zackarai 11-05-2009 05:44 PM

I hate those ads! They're so annoying. But the ads I hate the most are the ones advertising college with people dancing. It's either a crappy computer generated person or just a silhouette of someone dancing. Why are people dancing in a college ad? I wouldn't be dancing if I knew I were going to school.

Laila Izuka 11-05-2009 05:50 PM

I've seen that ad before e.e, I found it really creepy as well. I've also seen a bunch of really stupid ones as well. Mostly the ones on Gaia O.o

Ponta 11-05-2009 06:46 PM

Some people I guess are really curious or really desperate... or you know, you on accident click it because you thought your cursor was on something else.

Thunder 11-05-2009 06:52 PM

That is a really weird one. o_O

I have Adblock, so it gets rid of quite a bit, but some still get through. I absolutely despise those ones that float onto the page, right in the middle, so you're basically forced to see it and click the close button so you can see what you were trying to in the first place. Also, those websites that will open a whole page worth of ads when you hit 'next page' or whatever and you have to click another button to actually get to the next page make me want to punch something.

I understand they get more money if more people click on them, but come on... D=

Zora 11-05-2009 06:55 PM

that human dog thing is very well gross and mildly terrifying to look at. I for one would be pissed to see that any where near my email.

Nalah Sin 11-05-2009 07:19 PM

I love that sculpture, it's skillfully made and my personal opinion is that it doesn't look gross, but it rather makes me somewhat thoughtful. And doesn't the baby look incredibly cute, while the mother incorporates the inbound beauty of both a human and a canine mother?

Okay, maybe that's just me :D, but I really like it!

As to ads altogether, I just ignore them (unless they feature links to websites I think might be interested in - that's actually how I found out about Mene!) and am thankful that they are what keep my online experience mostly free of charge. After all, if it wasn't for people paying to put those advertisements online, a lot of websites would simply cease existing.

Nope, I don't find it annoying, as I have Firefox equipped with the no script add-on which blocks all those annoying adds and pop-ups without fail. ;] Its definately looking into since you seem to be quite bothered by those adds. Not to mention Firefox is more efficient and faster.

There is no way in hell that they are the same person, because the second photo was taken in a much brighter place. The advertiser was too stupid to adjust the lighting!

pinkii 11-05-2009 11:51 PM

I have a stupid pop up telling me I had a virus.

Um...I didn't click anything...and I use a mac >>

Clarisant 11-05-2009 11:59 PM

I've seen that ad too.

Yeah, I'm sick of the pop-ups. A lot of sites sell out to them to make money. It discourages me from visiting those sites again..mainly forums and such.
