"The Jungle Book" is quite epic. I have not seen the movie(s) but I read it when I was little. I do love Akela in it. In fact, it was one of my first "meetings" with wolves. And ever since then, I love panthers. <3

Ahh, "The Fox and the Hound" is amazing. I still have the book form of the story somewhere in my bookshelf. One of the Disney movies I really would like to watch, and "Lion King", too. I am a llittle cut off from the movie world, you see. XD;

I don't know what amde me realize the power of the word... Maybe it happened just recently, when I read "The Last Elf". It had the best translation I have ever read and then I saw it in English... Which was simply horrible. At least totally plain. It made me realize how much things are changed by sometimes a single sentence in a book, how much book can loose or gain, depending on the writer AND the translator.

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-10-2009 09:22 PM

In my opinion, a story is always best told by the person who told it. I'm not a fan of editors or translators, but in most cases, it is definitely necessary.

Queen_Andais 12-10-2009 09:23 PM

Books are words on paper, but each person then takes the descriptions and turns them into what they already know and use their imagination to make it their own story. That's why no two people reading a book pick up on the same things. There are always different perceptions to a story.
William Shakespeare was a master of taking a scene and putting it out there for the whole world to interpret on their own. People today are still diving into different scenes and picking them apart to see what is truly being said.
I read all genres and enjoy most of them. Intrigue, romance and pinch of the fantasy are among my favorites.

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-10-2009 09:27 PM

Thats why I loved "The Sight" and "Fell". They both incorporate so many different genres into them, and the story that unfolds is so epic, it rivals such masterpieces as "Braveheart", "The Patriot" and even "King Arthur".

Queen_Andais 12-10-2009 09:37 PM

Neither one of those sound familiar to me, might have to check them out.

So I take it you aren't from the US? Where are you from?

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-10-2009 09:40 PM

Yes, I'm actually from all over the US. I was born in Michigan, lived in Florida for 13 years, moved back to Michigan, moved to Texas for a couple years, now I live in Tennessee.

Well, it looks like I won't be making it to the head wings tonight, but I will DEFINITELY have the full 5K tomorrow. I have to head out of here for work in less than 5 minutes, so I have to ask that you be here tomorrow so I can buy them. :)

I came close, no doubt, but I know after games tomorrow, I'll be passing 5K.

Queen_Andais 12-10-2009 09:45 PM

Sure thing...I am always here on Mene during the week. It's the weekend that it's hard for me to be here.

You just kind of jumped all over the place. I've lived in California all my life >_<

Have fun at work... :)

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-10-2009 09:47 PM

Thank you, and have a good, fun, and warm night.

Queen_Andais 12-10-2009 09:51 PM

I will certainly try to have all of those things.

Iltu 12-11-2009 12:56 AM

*falls over herself* Oh, Whitewolf, you love The Sight and Fell!? <3 <3 <3 The Sight is one of my favorite books of all time! I was not as impressed by Fell, but I still loved it.

sadrain 12-11-2009 08:49 AM

I will be able to say if Translator can make a book truly epic only after I have read "The Last Elf" in original, which is Italian, but until then I can surely say that if not more epic, then the translator certainly can make it just as great or absolutely bad.

... OHMYGOOOD.

"Firebringer"!! HE IS AUTHOR OF FIREBRINGER> *spazzattack*

THAT WAS ONE OF MY FIRST FAVORITE BOOKS. *more spazzattack*

Quoting my mother:
"I have always thought of it as modern writing bext example"

That story just stole my heart away, one of first in which I cried. If "The Sight" and "Fell" is just half as epic, AND I AM SURE THEY ARE EVEN MORE EPIC IF THATS POSSIBLE, I will love them to bits.

*dies* I need to read them. I just have to. x.x

Gaaah, why we translate stupid romances and not the really good books? ;-;

Queen_Andais 12-11-2009 03:31 PM

Morning Wolf and Sad.

I feel so out of the loop about these books. I might just have to look the books up and read them. Today is going to be slow, I can just feel it. Ugh.

sadrain 12-11-2009 03:41 PM

Hello, Quest Queenie.

I cannot talk much cause I have homework today... Not to metnion I am not in very high spirits, but I am kind of hear. Debating if black rose wouldn't look better on my leg when I get the red/black shoes.

And you really should look those books up. <3 "Firebringer" is epic. <3 Of course, it si quite a read... About 400 or more pages but I recall I got it trough in one day. It just stole away all my attention and I couldn't do anything else until I had finished it.

Queen_Andais 12-11-2009 03:44 PM

I read most books cover to cover in a day if they are less then 500 pages. I will certainly check them out.

Why are you not in high spirits? I was kind of saddened last night when my boyfriend told me that he had cried the night before because he was missing me. Of course finding that out made me cry a bit too. I am so pathetic sometimes.

*hugglesluffsnugglescuddles sadrain*

sadrain 12-11-2009 04:01 PM

Great! I really hope you will like them, then. ^^ I will look around internet and maybe I can find avirtual version of "The Sight". I deffinitely want to read it now. <3

Had to do some stuff that made me upset (and think over some things that also made me so), not to mention I am a person who naturally is in medium, or usually low spirits. XD; I also know I have tons of work to do which I am not sure if I can do, as I am feeling unwell. But otherwise... I suppose there is no other reason.

Aw. D: I don't think its pathetic, I think its sweet. From both of you. *hugs tightly*

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-11-2009 05:52 PM

*Walks around my thread randomly hugging EVERYONE!!!* Wolfie is in quite high spirits actually. Considering I only have 3.5 hours online left, at least I get my raven head wings today!!! I have the 5K, so whenever you're ready, start up a trade!

Queen_Andais 12-11-2009 06:05 PM

Will do will do. Sorry, didn't see your post a little sooner. Been ingrossed with something going on here at work. That and my eyes are bugging me. Got a huge headache right now.

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-11-2009 06:08 PM

Aww, take an ibuprophen?

Queen_Andais 12-11-2009 06:10 PM

Allergic to the stuff. Took some acetiminophen, waiting for it to take affect.

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-11-2009 06:11 PM

Yeah, I'll probably have to hop on some medicine after I leave the library. I have a sore throat and a toothache, but it won't stop me from being absolutely wonderful today :D

Queen_Andais 12-11-2009 06:13 PM

Holy ish I'm rich! *huggles Wolf* You've helped me so much! Just that much closer to my goal of 100k.

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-11-2009 06:27 PM

lol, you're rich? Not sure about rich, but 5K felt really good, for sure.

Queen_Andais 12-11-2009 07:03 PM

Well, the 5k here and the almost 7k on my mule makes me feel rich for the time being. When I hit 100k, then I will do an uber dance of joy.

The Whitewolf Shaman 12-11-2009 07:12 PM

What could you possibly need 100K for?

Queen_Andais 12-11-2009 07:14 PM

A massive give away during an event.
