Yeah. If I were allowed to have my computer in my room it would be fine, since my room is directly above the router. But instead it has to be in the spare room which is on the other side of the house. :(
And I don't think I can get a stronger wifi thingy for my computer because the only reason I have internet to begin with was that my brother bought an internet card for his own computer but it wouldn't work with WIndows 7, so he installed it on mine.

Urchie 09-22-2010 08:23 PM

Ah-fair enough. But still, keep it in mind as a back up in case. It could work out, but I don't know how your setup works, so I'll leave it for now. I don't wanna try to help and end up making things worse!
At least you have internet and don't have to pay for it-or do you? I had to pay for internet (including phone and line rental) at my student house last year and everyone had to pay me their share.

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 08:25 PM

That's the one thing I'm not looking forward to when I apply for Uni, the rent for the stupid place! Not to mention food bills and other stuff like that! -grumbles-

The Roze 09-22-2010 08:26 PM

Well I don't pay for the internet personally, no. I'm trying to get my parents to let me have my computer in my room, but they say I'm not allowed because I'd just be on it 24/7. That argument makes no sense. I'm on it 24/7 anyway.

And Mirani you don't have to worry about that! You've got loads of money! More than me and I'm the Blonde Skinny Rich Bitch!

Urchie 09-22-2010 08:28 PM

(Chuckles) I'm trying to keep myself from doing that, and it's hard when you have a Desktop in your bedroom AND a new laptop (which will be going with me to uni).

MG-Well your student loan and grant will help cover that. If it helps, have a look at the housing your uni provides before you apply and see which has the better deals. See if you can have self catering though, cuz some of the things I've heard about catered student housing aren't the most encouraging things you wanna hear!

The Roze 09-22-2010 08:31 PM

My parents have been putting a whole load of money in some bank account since I was born for me to go to Uni... they've never actually told me how much though. Although they never like talking to me about money.

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 08:33 PM

I was looking through that sort of thing during my SE class on Monday. THe cheapest I could find was for £112 a week which included internet, bike storage, laundry and a few other things but the place was all set up and I have to bring appliances and stuff. Then there was a twin bunk room I think they called it which was £117 but it doesn't say whether taht was per person or combined which is rather annoying. But if it is combined then it might be cheaper rooming with someone you know...I dunno. I've still got another year at the academy before I need to worry about that for now. And taht was in Edinburth so it might be cheaper in other places...not sure yet.

The Roze 09-22-2010 08:35 PM

No no no Mirani yous have to go to Edinburghs!!!
That's where I'm going!!! And since you're staying an extra year at school that means we can go togethers!!!

Urchie 09-22-2010 08:37 PM

My folks will help me if I need it, but they mostly have me pulling my own weight money wise. Kinda has you learning the value of money...and how quickly it bloody goes when you're out! But I find it's good practice for the future.

MG-Yeah, it can be easier if you have a roomie, since you can split any bills between you. I was in private housing last year, and housemates, we split most of the bills between us. Plus, you get to make more friends that way instead of just staying by yourself. Most student acomodations have several bedrooms, and a communal living/kitchen area, so you'll probably have room mates anyway. Depends on where abouts you end up staying!

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 08:41 PM

-grins- it'd be great if we did end up going at the same time! And if Forkz and Amika could go too! Could you imagine us all at Uni? It wouldn't stand a chance against the four of us!
I'm kinda like a pack rat, I try and save everything and I only really spend my money if it's somethign I REALLY wanna get! Like the bag I got off of Ebay that has Bleach written on it and underneath that is a picture of Toshiro running with Hyourinmaru drawn and the big ice dragon himself in the background. -grins- It is SO cool!!!!! :squee: Not to mention the costume I bought off of Ebay which finally came today! :squee: :squee:  :squee:
It would probably be easier having a room-mate but it'd have to be one you got along with or things could get REALLY bad pretty quickly.

Urchie 09-22-2010 08:49 PM

Fair enough-I knew none of my housemates till I moved in, and we got along alright. It's not always bad stayong with people you don't quite know!
And I'm like that with my money-though I usually end up buying CDs and DVDs and stuff like that!

I apologise if I don't answer, but I'm also watching Castle online at the moment as well!

The Roze 09-22-2010 08:55 PM

I work loads and loads and I save and save and save and save. Then I count my money, realise I have lots, and start spending it all. Before I know it, I'm broke...
Although right now I'm frantically saving more than usual because a friend and I are hoping to go on a course abroad next summer... and it's gonna cost a lot. I think I might have to go busking to get some extra money...

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 08:55 PM

:squee: you watch Castle!!!!!! I LOVE that show!!!!! What do you think of Beckett? She's awesome and Castle is just...how do you describe Castle? He's awesome! So's his daughter Alexis! She's definitely a cool character!

Don't blame ya! Some stuff you just can't avoid spending money on no matter how yard ya try not to. There's always this one CD or that DVD that catches your eye and you just HAVE to get it! That or you go in knowing what you want and get it but it's surprising how quick money can dissappear sometimes.

Can you go busking with a cello? And I am totally jealous of you guys but I probably would't be allowed to go unfortunately...

The Roze 09-22-2010 09:05 PM

It's not normally CDs or DVDs that I spend all my money on, just clothes >_<
Yeah, SEEK went busking before, to get money for new music. And we played in the East Gate center, but that was for charity. The day we were busking there, the Marie Curie people made over £1,000 :D

Urchie 09-22-2010 09:06 PM

Castle is cool. Series 2 started today in the UK, and season 3 started in america on monday...and NCIS Season 8 started yesterday! (Head slaps himself for not remembering sooner!) I know what I'm gonna be looking for online tomorrow!
I do like Beckett-she's a cool character, and Castle is a hard man to describe at times. Though the interaction with him and his family is fun to watch at times!
And I'm like that-so many CDs and DVDs to get, but not always enough money to buy them! It doesn't help me that some of the CDs I REALLY want can't be bought in stores here in the UK!

And cool. Good luck with that Roze-hope it goes well for you!

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 09:09 PM

Really? That's great that so much money was raised!
-cheers- Yay!!!! So many awesome shows to watch...so little time...:eager: it'll be great!

The Roze 09-22-2010 09:10 PM

Yeah, the village market in strathpeffer let's us busk for free there :)
I'm thinking of asking for more shifts at work too... it'll probably almost kill me but I'll need the money.

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 09:16 PM

If you guys really need it I'll give you a hand if you need anything. And don't do too much more cuz you've still got HRYO and that'll take a lot outta ya on the weekends as well so just don't burn yourself out and get too stressed or you could seriously make yourself sick cuz of it and we're all worried enough about ya as it is!

The Roze 09-22-2010 09:19 PM

Worried about me? Why are you worried about me? It's not as bad as you think it is, I just complain a lot :P
Anyway, it's fine, HRYO's only once a month. The concert's in November. We get to go to teh Aviemore resort for our concert!!! :eager: I loves that Aviemore resort, I loves it lots

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 09:21 PM

Sounds like you'll be having a lot of fun doing that.
Just try not to burn out, it isn't pleasant. I should know, it happened to me during first year when I was doing school work, piano lesson once a week, chior at school and I was also in a play so we had rehersals almost every knight and at the time I had also been going to Girl Guides on the Wednesday and swimming on the Monday so...yeah. I seriously burned myself out and it was NOT pleasant!

The Roze 09-22-2010 09:23 PM

Oh, I had an experience like that in first/second year. I was in the school orchestra, senior strings, junior choir, HRYO, HYSO (Highland Youth String Orchestra), the school wind band (don't ask, long story), a gaelic debating group, and I used to go swimming. And I had a job back then too... but then again the schoolwork wasn't as hard as it is now.

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 09:25 PM

-winces- either way I think we can both agree that burn out sucks! And it just get's worse and worse so just try'n avoid that if ya can.
I gotta go in a minute. I should've actually been off about fifteen minutes ago...-sweatdrops-

The Roze 09-22-2010 09:26 PM

*looks at the time*
Aaah, I've gotta go too!!!
See you i school tomorrow, yeah?

Urchie 09-22-2010 09:27 PM

(Whistles) Wow! You really kept yourself busy! I couldn't do most of that...and I mean that literally!

MG, I've done that so many times that I lost count. At least it's not a case of 'I'll come off in a minute' 15 minutes after having said it, which I've done too many times to count!

Well, then, good night girls. Chat to you to later!

Magician Girl Mirani 09-22-2010 09:28 PM

G'night! C'ya tomorrow Roze  talk to ya tomorrow Urchie!
