If You Could Change Your School...

What would you change around?

I've been sitting at this computer for over twenty minutes wandering about the forums instead of doing a dumb project. All I can think about is how much I want to edit the school system. What we're teached, how we're teached it.
I know the teaching methods depend on the teacher, but my question/discussion starter for you is if you had the power to change anything in your school, what would it be?

It would probably have to do with the integrity of the students, and the level of care in the teachers, because they honestly don't.

I once had a girl in one of my classes being bullied by another student, and everytime it happened my teacher would always be RIGHT there and heard EVERYTHING, but would never say a thing. It got to the point where my friends and I were sick of the teacher never saying anything, so we did.

It's sad when a teacher wont even stop bullying. So basically, not the school system itself, but the people in it.

Wider hallways. It would help with the traffic and the shoving SO much. XD

Having it so your taught 2-3 subjects for 3 months, have your final, get a week off, then do a new set.

honestly I hate trying to remember stuff from the beginning of the semester, so if you cut it up into sections, your in school all year, but you can actually learn something.

Instead of changing my college - I'm just going to change to a different college.

The teaching isn't bad or anything - it's just the people who attend it are god awful annoying. (Mostly booze hounds and trend followers. Not to mention it's not a diverse group of people at all.)

The college I plan to transfer to is more prestigious and individualistic thinkers. Here's to hoping I get accepted.

However, if I was still in high school - that entire school system needed to be redone. Teachers could not reprimand the problematic students AT ALL. These kids ran around doing whatever the hell they wanted and you want to know what's even more sick? They get passed even though they're FAILING because the school wants to have a higher graduation rate. So I literally attended a high school with some of the most prestigious students in my local area along with absolute failures who are probably going to be burger flippers the rest of their lives or end up in jail.

I would change the amount of dorky boys to cuter boys! :P
*sigh.* I HATE DORKY BOYS!
I always end up with them in sex-ed. NOT GOOD.

XD lol Manga_AnimeFan!

the school's edgucational placement system. and no, not because i want the same classes as my friends! just NO.
my friend who hates reading and is a slow reader and isnt good with bigger words got put into an honors Com Arts class. (thats reading writing, history, etc. oh, and she hates writing and history too) I, who loves and excels at reading and writing (My reading level is epic, im 13 and my reading level is past college last i checked 2 YEARS ago. and im currently writing a novel) and is great with big words, am not. im in crappy regular com arts, which is 7th grade reading and writing. BORING. its too boring for me to focus or force myself to do the work, so my grade does not reflect my smartness.
said friend and i both got tested for an advanced math class (Algebra 1) during summer, and she got in. i didnt.
i got put in 7th grade math for the first 3 weeks of school. utterly bored out of my mind.
then, they tested for algebra again, 3 weeks into school. freakin' easiest test i've ever taken. 1 week later, i got moved to an algebra class, after passing with flying colors.

.....am i the only one who sees something wrong with this picture?

my school's edgucational placement system is utter crap.

my friend in honors com arts currently has a D in said class. i would have a B, at least! i KNOW i would!
mabe if i raise my grade, they will actually pay enough attention to see that something is clearly wrong here, and get me out of this class!

- Heavy metal guitar solo instead of those lame bell chimes
- Make it okay to shove those people out of the way who decide start hugging of having a conversation in the middle of the hall or front of class door
- Remove teachers who try to destroy creativity
- Make it a charter highschool
- Make it a harsher punishment for teasing or harassing others

I agree with the need for educational reform. I used to be an education major before I switched, and I won't get into all of it, but I don't really support the public school system . . .

What I'd change @ my U: 1)I'd make underground tunnels so I didn't have to trek across campus in the snow or rain. 2) I'd make it free. :3 . . . okay, I'd make the books free. . . that's just not possible. but the underground tunnels totally are! *^*

I would rearrange it so that we have 3 of our 6 subjects in the first half of the year, be tested, have an assignment and whatnot, then in the second half of the year, compleate the other 3.
I hate being swamped with 5 assignments all at the same time. It's not good on my stress levels.

I'd make sure more money was going to fund honors programs. We have a lot of money in drama and music, and a lot of money in basic and extra help programs, but almost nothing for the smarter kids. I also disagree with a weighted band/chorus class that is zero work and an automatic weighted 100, where as for my extra weighed class I have hours of homework each night as it's a challenging class. And we apparently have the "wrong" AP Physics class? Overall I think my school is too concerned with extra curriculars and getting the low level kids (who are mostly just lazy, and don't actually need the help as much as they need to actually TRY) up to speed, where as programs for the honors kids get nothing. Oh, and I'd make it so you would be permitted to drop lunch without being a music student. Having to take a lunch this year fucked up my plans for the classes I want to take before I graduate, because I couldn't drop it because only band and chorus kids were permitted (and no it's not a law or anything, it's just my schools decision that instead of looking into WHY the student wanted to drop lunch and making the decision case by case, it was easier to pick the music kids. I'm sorry but I think my wanting to take an extra math class is more important than someone wanted a second elective because "lunch is boring")

I think I would take away all the people who don't like/don't want to learn and send them to a farm. I would also add a bunch of new and cool classes.
