Willow
Has anyone seen the movie Willow? In case you haven't I will write my own personal synopsis about it and my opinions. The story takes place in a cold dark pungent castle dungeon where all expecting women in the land are taken in an effort to find the baby of a prophecy that would bring forth her fall from power. In a sly trick a mid-wife escapes with the baby right past the queen leaving the castle in seek of refuge for herself and the baby girl of the prophecy. Unfortunately the mid-wife is tracked after days of running from Nockmar soldiers and is killed by a death dog; but before her death she makes a makeshift raft to send Alora Danon down a small river.
Alora is found by two hobbit (nelwyns) children named Ranon and Mims son and daughter of Willow Ufgood, a hobbit who aspires to become a magician. After finding the baby Willow does not want any part of it afraid of any harm that could befall his family, but his family does not listen as Kia, his wife, disobeys his disapproval of taking the human child. After a few days of having the child Willow goes off to a festival after being selected as a hopeful for the high elder's apprentice to perform magic tricks with Ranon and Mims leaving Kia to babysit the human child who seems to have taken a liking to Willow. During the festival the village is attacked by a single death dog trying to find the child. Then the plot begins. Thus begins the epic tale of Willow... I really loved this movie, I think they should have made a sequel! |
i love that movie, i remember watching it when i was a 3 years and when i was older. I have it on dvd so i can watch it anytime i want. My favorite part would be when Willow was try to change the old woman back into a woman but he changed her into a goat and she says, "willow youuuu idoit!!!!" that was funny, its a movie that everyone should watch it, its a classic.

Now that part was owned!! I laughed so hard during that scene, but my favorite scene that really made me laugh hard was when Franjean and Rool were fighting over the dust of broken heart and the dust hit Rool and he fell out of Willow's pouch while they were in the tavern after Willow hid behind the stairs. Then a stray cat came and meowed as Rool was rubbing his eyes and saw the cat there after. Then he was like Wow! You are so beautiful and the cat was looking at him inquisitively. Rool continued spouting love phrases like your eyes your whiskers then he tried to kiss the cat and the cat sqeowed "RAAEOOLL!!!" and knocked Rool into an open keg of beer!! I laughed so hard it brought tears to my eyes. @BinkaKitty ~ This is a movie that can be watched again after some time passes. It's a wonderful tale and also there is a book to this movie which has scenes in the book that aren't in the movie. Ever wonder why Willow only used two of his magic acorns the high Aldwyn gave him?;) |
I love the movie Willow, we own it on DVD. Franjean and Rool are my favorite characters, they're just amazing ^.^

Oh yeah i love that part also, Franjean and Rool were so funny. |
the brother-in-law of a friend of mine from school was an extra in 'willow'... he was one of the warriors who were marching along when you first see madmartigan hanging up in his cage... that scene was shot in new zealand i think he said... he also has a huge life size picture of himself all dressed up in his gear on site... it hangs in their bedroom haha...
anyhoo... i haven't seen that movie in so long i don't really remember a lot of what happened... i thought the brownies were really cool though... and i do remember the goat and when madmartigan dressed up as a woman and almost got busted up by that huge guy... |
I don't know why but when I think of Megan Fox's thumbs.....I think of Willow.... O_o
|
haha i think that is the most random thing i've heard in a long while!
|
I love willow! Me and my older sister just watched it for the first time in years while we were all stoned from pot cookies. lol and let me tell ya, that movie is surprisingly funny.
|
My cat is named after him, Willow. ^^
I also love love love Mad Mordigan! |

I have to agree, Madmartigan was awesome. I think Val Kilmer did a great job portraying a swashbuckling adventuring hero. @SenselessChaos ~ I have yet to try the pot cookies or brownies lol. Watching that movie stoned would have to be a trip I agree as well. @Linnea ~ I agree, I have no clue what she is talking about, definitely random for sure!! You had someone in your family play an extra in Airik's army?! That sounds so freaking awesome as hell!! I would have loved to have done that but I was only ten at the time. @Porkbackfat ~ What exactly is Megans' Thumbs? |
i saw some of it on a boat ride home to england from france once.... didn't look too bad but i probably wont go searching for it to watch it.. tho i do love phil fondacaro
|
I love that movie!! Nobody I know has ever seen it, and they refuse to watch it with me. My favorite line is:
"Hey, you're that stupid daikini! We stole the baby from you, when you were taking a peepee." I laughed for like ten minutes every time I herd them say that. |

You can watch it on youtube.com if you like. I'm sure you can find it online without putting forth too much effort. A ride from France to England?! Wow! I bet that was fun, not to be getting off topic, but what kind of boat and from what city to what city? I plan on moving to England next January. I'm excited and scared at the same time. @sarofset ~ It really is a good movie and people are just re discovering it. I read the book and there are only but a couple parts that are left out which makes the movie very true to the book. That was a very funny part with the brownies as they were to comic relief. They really made me laugh so much!! |

it makes me laugh for ten minutes just remembering it! ...... hahahahaha  Quote:
and it wasn't someone in my family who was in it, it was a friend from the school i went to... i went to there house with her on a break and i saw this massive poster of her brother-in-law all dressed up... it was awesome! |

I think Val Kilmer should play another such role. I would love to see them do a sequel of Willow even though it is way long over due. Val really was a heartbreaker back in the day. Is there anyway you could get a copy of the picture and post it? I would love to see what it looked like. |
i totally think there should be more roles that require a 'swashbuckling adventuring hero' :) there really aren't enough of those!
i'm not sure about getting a picture because i don't talk to that friend as much as i used to :( i can shoot her a message and ask to take a pic for me the next time she visits her sister... i'll try my best! it was a really cool pic cause he was in his armor and you could see the other guys behind him... so cool... i wish i was older when it came out... i think i was about five? i saw it for the first time when i was maybe eight or nine... i think it would have been great to see it on the big screen! |
I haven't seen that movie in so long! Actually was thinking of trying to find a DVD copy of it to play, but I'm too lazy to go searching for it. Ah, one day soon though.
I didn't know there was a book for it. o.o |

@Textless Soul ~ It shouldn't take that much effort for you to find it. Type it in online and I'm sure you could probably find a copy almost instantly. It was a popular movie and still is a classic fantasy. Yes, there is a book for it which I'm sure you could find. In the movie there are a few more scenes that aren't in the movie and you get more background on who and where Madmartigan is and where he came from. It really enjoyed it and you also get more information about the realm they live in and who all inhabit it besides Nockmar, Galladorn and Tir Asleen. I wished I had it, I kind of want to read it again actually. |
The first time I watched Willow was as a fairly small child and quite frankly it terrified me - the 'good guys' moreso than the 'bad'. Now however I get a lot of enjoyment watching it - I'd forgotten how much until I noticed this thread, I'll have to look it up sometime soon and rewatch. Cheers! ^^
