Blog should give coins, too!

As title states, I really would love the Blog feature to give coins for posting too. I think that it would give us users even more incentive to post on it.

I like having it there, but if I could also make coins for posting my blogs I'd be that much more tempted to put all my angst and bitching tucked away there and give people the option of reading it or not. :P

No, no, no. A thousand times no.

If you could earn gold on your blog, then the blogs would have to be moderated, and if the blogs had to be moderated then they'd need to have more stringent rules, and if they had more stringent rules you'd be limited in what you could say. All of this is bad.

Not to mention the enormity of work it would put onto the staff to give them a whole new section of the site to moderate.

I agree with Kinmotsu. While I agree with you, Izumi, about how it would be nice to earn gold for more things that we do on the site like blog posting, the problem comes with the fact that you shouldn't need incentive to post your thoughts, and feelings. When you talk to someone about your problems, do you expect money in return? Is that why you talk to them? No. Writing in a blog is about telling your day to day activities, posting your thoughts and frustrations, and if you don't find being able to do that enough incentive to post a blog entry, then you don't need to.

"Incentives" for blog entries, or, like I saw another thread suggest: comments, only makes people spam and take advantage of it. The forums are heavily moderated by dedicated mods, and the members look out for each other and make sure we're all following the rules. However, with blogs, how many people genuinely bother reading someone elses blog unless it's a friend of theirs? Getting gold on blogs would not only make more work for the moderators (which might in turn result in the disaster known as Gaia's moderating system, where everyone else BUT yourself seems to slip through their radars. Your offense being that you posted a thread when there's another one "a year old" *exaggeration* like it, and their offense being spamming when there's a million topics about the same thing on the first PAGE.) but it also encourages the wrong sort of people to come to the site. If it's too easy to make gold, more people begin taking advantage of it because they never seem to find it easy enough. Blogs won't be about posting your thoughts and feelings, it'll be about typing a bunch of garbage just to earn gold.

If there was a way to make blogs give you gold without all those problems, I'd be for it, but I don't know if there's anything that could be done.

I think an option to "blog" in a forum would be nice... as according to my English teacher it is a common form of writing... and it would personally be nice to be able to give the users the option to blog and chat about the blog's topics

But I don't really blog, ^^" nor do I really know how... so I probably am missing major details on this... but I put in my 2 cents =)

Well, this site already has the feature to post blogs, here: Menewsha Avatar Community - Blogs

As for how, you just type up your current thoughts, emotions, or what you're doing. It's just like writing a journal. Some people go above and beyond that and do little editorials in their blogs, which can be cool, but you get the general idea.
