Two guys...lots of chaos.

So I am a junior in high school now and I have had this guy (R) that I've known since fourth grade and had a crush on him since then. Now we've been on and off friends and he tells me everything (he's gone through some bad phases), but it killed me beause he was always surrounded by beautiful girls (hes SUPER attractive and older girls flock to him, and being a bit of a sex addict it is okay with him) and so I decided it would be better if I just forgot about him.

Now this year I made another guy friend (D). Hes a senior and even though hes got a little bit of ego problem hes a good guy (they both are). Though he has a girlfriend though its a strained relationship and in the past few months weve really hit it off. He almost made me forget R all together (besides the friendship aprt), but during that time when I was being a creeper to R because I was concentrating on D R started to think I was cute and actually pursue me!

Heres the problem. I do like them both, a lot. R has told my friend Im cute, he just doesnt know what he wants to do about it. He knows I dont do drugs, drink, or have sex which is all he does (Im making him sound like a horrible person, hes not). Hes protecting me from that, but at the same time I sort of wish he would just do something.

On the other hand D and I have been really close and being only a year younger than him it wouldnt be so much of a problem if he went to school and I was still in Highschool. The problem is he is one of those guys who feels the need to flirt with everyone, but I feel like in recent weeks its been a lot about me. Though he also goes through mood swings and will go days without talking to me.

Both guys have pluses and minus's, but im afraid of the fact that I have multiple options. If I keep them both as friends then I luck out there, but I am a little tired of being the awkward girl all by herself at the parties. If I go after D then I risk losing R and D has his mood swings and all his ex's complain drastically about them. If I go after R I might lose my friendship with D and R is kind of a user.

They both have their problems, but I've had some of the best times of my life with them and I just dont know what to do.

Well, D has a girlfriend, so I would stay friends and nothing more. He says it's strained, but if they're still together it may not be as bad as he's made it out to be. I was talking to a guy years ago who said the same thing, and now he's engaged to that same girl. (which I was happy to hear, since I never acted on my feelings) As for R, it sounds to me like he may be too wild for you to actually be involved with. He may be great for a while, but it doesn't sound like it will last long. I wouldn't go for either one personally. If I were you, I would stay friends with both and wait around for a better guy who is genuinely interested only in you. I'm sure you deserve that.

I agree with Lolita.

Seems like you just don't want to be lonely. That's normal, but going out with either of them when you don't feel very secure doesn't seem like the right option to me.

Stay friends with them, especially since it seems like they've both got your back, and wait/seek out a better guy. :3
