Jack fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillow. As he drifted off, he heard a faint voice in the background that sounded somewhat familiar, though he didn't know right away what it was. However, he was drawn into a dream that was shared by Crow, Akiza, Ruka, Rua, and Aoi. "What the hell...?" He asked.
"That's exactly what I was thinking." Crow said. "So you're in the same dream, huh?" Jack nodded. "Freaky...." |
Both Akzia and Ruka woke up at a start.
"What was that?" they asked in unsion. 'A....ki....za' Akiza turned her head. It's that voice again she thought. |
"So you two are here as well?" Jack asked.
"So am I," Aoi said. "What the heck's going on?" Just then, Jack's arm started burning. He looked down, and his Signer mark was glowing. The same was happening with the rest of the Signers. "Okay, what the hell is this?!" "Good, I managed to get all you guys here." A familiar voice said. Looking up, the five people saw who it was coming from. Yusei. "This isn't another trick is it?" Aoi asked defensively. "No," Yusei said, shaking his head. "I--I don't have much strength left in me from my last struggle." He showed it too: his shoulders had a slight sag in them; his legs were shaking, however inperceptively; his eyes had the look of someone who had just been dealt a great deal of damage and were filled with pain. The strain showed on his face all too sharply; he was fighting to not only keep this link open, but to stay concious as well. "There's something that I've got to tell you guys, and I know you won't like it." "Well, what is it?" Jack asked hardly. Yusei closed his eyes for a moment to get his bearings. "I'm losing this battle inside me, and soon I won't be able to reach anyone." He replied quietly. "The way things are going, I'm going to be lost. Forever." "Whoa, hold on, Yusei." Crow said. "Y-you can't lose. That's just...Yusei, you don't lose! You're joking, I know you are." Yusei shot Crow a look that would have incinerated him on the spot if looks could kill. "I'm not kidding, Crow." He replied. "I have barely any strength left, and it's taking all I have to bring you all together to talk to you guys." He took a deep breath. "I wouldn't be surprised if it kills me...." "Don't say that!" Aoi said. "I gave Jack here a lecture of defeatism earlier, and don't make me pull that on you." Yusei smiled weakly. "Looks like the Crimson Dragon made a good choice for the guardian of my mark." He said. "Now, there's something that I've got to ask of all of you, and I wish I didn't have to." |
"What do we have to do Yusei?" Akiza asked, "And did you try to contact me earlier?"
"And what's worse, Max is dead" Ruka replied. |
"Yes, that was me." Yusei replied. He sighed heavily when Ruka gave him the news of Max's death. "Damn...who's in charge now?"
"Yugi Mutou." Aoi replied. "But what is it you need us to do?" Yusei was silent for a few moments. Finally, he replied. "In order to get this...whatever it is out of me...to get me back to normal..." He swallowed. "You've got to kill me. Or at least come as close as possible to physically killing me." They were all silent. "N-no..." Crow whispered, almost collapsing. "Yusei, what you're saying is that one of us has to take you out, for good!" He walked up to his friend and shook his shoulders. "I'm not doing it, Yusei. I'm not killing my best friend!" "Just shut up and listen Crow!" Yusei replied hotly. The strain of keeping the link open was getting to him. He didn't have much more time. He was getting short-tempered and pissed, which was not a good thing right now. "One of you guys has to try and kill me in order for me to be able to take over again and drive this thing in me out. Even if it really does kill me, I'll at least die as myself and not a possessed demon." He firmly took hold of Crow's wrists and lowered them from his shoulders. "Please." "Yusei, don't you realize what you're saying?!" Jack demanded. "You want one of us, one of your best friends, someone who we all know you'd give your life for, to take yours?!" He balled his hands into fists, looking for all the world like he was about to run up and sock Yusei in the face. "I'm not going to do it!" "I know what I'm saying Jack, and there's no other way." Yusei replied. "It's been less than a week and it's all I can do to keep from losing myself in this. In a month, I probably won't even exist anymore, but I'm not going out without a fight. If anything, if I do end up dead at the end of this, do me the favor of allowing me to die as myself." |
"Ok, I understand" Akiza said with tears streaming down her face.

Aoi walked up to Yusei, glaring at him. Out of the blue, she slammed her fist into the side of his face, sending him flying.
"What the hell was that for?!" Crow shouted. "I'm pissed." Aoi said. "I've been trying to figure out a way other than what Yusei just explained, but every time the only option I could think of was what he just mentioned." She glared down at Yusei, who was sitting up and rubbing the bruise forming on the right side of his face. "I was hoping that you'd had another solution." "So did I," Yusei said quietly. "But there isn't. It's got to be done." Jack was silent for the whole time. "Well, if you want to commit suicide, fine." He said sourly. "I don't want any part of it. I'm leaving." "Jack!" Crow protested, but he was gone in a shimmer of orange before he could be stopped. "That idiot...No, that ass." |
"ENOUGH!" Akiza cried which made everyone to become silent, "We have no other choice but to do this."

"I guess you're right," Crow said. "You sure there aren't any other ways, Yus?"
Yusei shook his head. "I'm positive." he replied. By now he looked like he was on the verge of passing out. "I'm going to head back to my own mind as well." Aoi replied. "I hope that we can get you out of this Yusei. Alive." Yusei nodded, a small smile spreading across his weary face. "Same here," He said. "I'll do the same too." Crow added as Aoi dispersed in a seafoam-colored shimmer. He placed a firm hand on Yusei's shoulder. "Buddy, we'll figure out a way to get you back, not matter what happens." He whispered. He squeezed his friend's shoulder. "I promise you that." "I know," Yusei whispered back. Crow grinned. "Just don't take out this bastard before I can have a crack at him!" He said with a laugh, allowing himself to return to his own mind. Just after, the twins left as well, leaving only Yusei and Akiza. "So..." Yusei said. He was weak, and now in an awkward situation. He walked up to Akiza and wiped a tear away. "Akiza....." |
Akiza wrapped her arms around Yusei's neck.
"Please don't leave me. I need you" she said. |
"I know." Yusei whispered, staring right into Akiza's amber eyes. Damn were they gorgeous..... He wrapped an arm around her waist and held Akiza close. He looked away slightly, feeling weird. Now that he thought about it, just about everything about Akiza was beautiful. "I know...." He whispered again.

Akiza's eyes met Yusei's.
"I'm serous, I really need you" and just like Edo did to Kasanagi, Akiza kissed Yusei. |
Yusei was almost caught off-guard, but it seemed like he was...expecting it for some reason. He returned the gesture, going with what felt right. Which, at the moment, was playing with Akiza's tongue. He held her close, afraid that if he let her go, she'd dissapear. Worse, that he'd dissapear, leaving her alone with nothing but a dream.
Please, don't let this end. If this moment could go on forever, I hope it does. Yusei found himself thinking, as he and Akiza stood there in each other's embrace, savoring this one moment in time. |
Akiza was feeling the excat same way.
I don't want this to end. This feels so real and so right she said as tears streamed down her face. |
For what felt like an eternity, they two had locked mouths. Finally, Yusei pulled away and touched his forehead to Akiza's. "You're crying again." He said. He chuckled. "Am I really that bad a kisser?" Something in the back of his mind told him that it was the WORST possible time to make a joke about his kissing skills, but he ignored it. Right now all that mattered was the woman in front of him.

Akiza chuckled.
"No, it's not that. I don't want to lose you" she said, then she heard a clink of metal. Both of them turned around and saw a brunette girl with red eyes. "Game's up" she said. |
Yusei put himself between him and Akiza. "What do you want?" he asked coldly. "How did you get here?"

"Simple. And you know who I want" she said and got her sythe at ready, "Give mer the girl or else I make you go forever."

"No." Yusei replied. He sensed a fight coming, and he really didn't have the strength for it. "You'll have to go through me to get Akiza."

"I didn't mean her you idiot. Or don't you remember me?" the woman asked in a familiar tone. It sounded if Ashleigh was in her PMS stage.

Shit, Yusei thought. "You're that...thing that possessed Ashleigh." He said.

"New and improved. My crew made me more human like and gave me this bad boy" she said, stroking the sythe, "So, are we going to do it the easy way or the hard way?"

"Well, considering how I don't believe in the easy way...." Yusei replied. He pushed Akiza away behind him. "Get out of here," He whispered. "I don't want you getting involved."

"But what about you?" Akiza asked Yusei.

"I'll be fine," Yusei lied.
"Get out of here before I make you." Yusei said, mustering up as much strength as he could. He was visibly trembling. Damn it.... |
