"Which is why we need to hurry." Neferhenta said. "I'm getting the gang together to help out with a surprise birthday party for your mom."
"I'll track down Jonouchi and Ryuji, you get hold of Mana and Honda." Ryo said. "Meet in my quarters?" "Sounds good to me," Melhana said. She hung up, phoning Honda as she linked to Neferhenta. 'Meet up with Ryo in his quarters. I'm getting hold of Mana and Honda, he's getting Jonouchi and Ryuji. Wanna track down Yugi, Anzu, and Selena?' 'All right,' Neferhenta said. 'I've managed to track down Yana and Yuzaki, and I'm explaining the plan to them right now. Meet you there.' 'Gotcha,' Melhana replied as Honda picked up. "Guess who!" She said in a singsong voice. |
"I get dad. Yuzaki, you stay with Nefe" and Yana ran off.
"What? And who's Nefe?" Yuzaki yelled back, earning him a good whack by Nefe. "With that horrid singing, it has to be you Jonouchi" Honda grumbled. Like Atem, he was NOT a morning person. Yana tiped toed into her dad's bedroom and saw him sleeping soundly. I guess he doesn't want to be woken up she thought. "Yana, what are you doing?" Yana jumped. |
"Idiot! Can't you tell your genders apart?!" Melhana shouted into the phone. "Do I sound like Katsuya Jonouchi at all?!"
"Looks like you didn't get the gift to see spirits like your parents have," Nefe said, allowing her hand to phase into his head. "Can you hear me now?" |
"I can hear you but I can't see you. Mum reconds that I have to develop it but I want to be the normal kid in the family" Yuzuki sighed.
"Sorry Melhana, can you let me wake up properly first?" Honda said, still grumbling. "Yes dad?" Yana replied. |
"Well, considering how your dad spent most of his time in high school sharing a body with my own father and the fact that your mother's a faerie, then I doubt it." Neferhenta said. "And being able to see spirits isn't completely weird."
"I don't like getting up early either, Hiroto Honda." Melhana replied sourly. "Just meet in Bakura's quarters. We've got something planned for Asheligh's birthday" With that she hung up, and proceeded on to Mana. |
"I'm not interested in the magic mumbo Jumbo. Now if you can excuse me, I have to go to the auditorium to practice" and with that, Yuzuki walked off, only to be dragged back by Yana.
"And this is why people call you crazy. Having magic is normal these days, especially in our family" she said and turned to Nefe. "Dad put his apologies in. He wants sleep. Who blames him?" Yana told Nefe. |
Nefe shook her head. "I can't blame him. For the past several days I've seen him running around like crazy. He needs sleep."

"Who else do we need to tell?" Yana asked.

"Selena, Honda, Jonouchi, Ryuji, and Anzu." Neferhenta said. "Melhana's getting hold of Ryo."
Bakura hit Jonouchi's number on speed-dial and waited for him to pick up. If he actually has his phone on that is, he thought as the phone rang. Melhana waited as Mana got around to picking up her phone. Has she figured out a cell phone yet? She thought. Her question was answered as Mana picked up after the fourth ring. "Heya! It's Melhana." She said. Kasanagi hopped off the practice stage, having gone through her concert lineup for the fourth time so far. She was rubbing her voicebox as she took the seat next to Edo. "Ow...." She mumbled. |
"Do you know what time it is?" Mana asked. Out of the lot, Mana was the most rested.
"I see" Yana said. "You should take a break" Edo sighed. |
"About....7:30 in the morning." Melhana said, checking her watch. "Heh, I dragged Jack out of his bed at six. Anyway, Nefe and I have a bit of a plan for Ashleigh's birthday..."
"What does it look like I'm doing?" Kasanagi asked, laying her head on Edo's shoulder. "Who is it?" A groggy voice asked from the other end. "About time." Bakura asked. "And don't you have caller ID?" "Wha--oh. Why're you calling at this time, Bakura?" Jonouchi asked. "You weren't up all night last night. And meet me in my apartment; Melhana and her new yami have a birthday party planned for Ashleigh." Bakura replied. |
"YOU FOUND NEFERHENTA????? Poor soul being trapped in that star item" Mana exclamed.
"I mean having a good sleep. You were at it all night" Edo sighed. |
"I know," Kasanagi said. "I guess I'm a bit nervous about the tournament." She looked up at him. "Aren't you tired at all?"
"Ow," Melhana said, wiggling her finger around in her ear after Mana's shout. "I assume you've met Neferhenta then. Damn you're loud...anyway, we're planning the whole deal in Bakura's apartment here. And I don't mean that bastard theif!" |
"Of course I know her. She never got out of the habbit that I was called aunty for some reason. I be there in about 2 hours...of course I now have a beauty reseame PLUS having a shower" Mana replied.
"You bet I am. Those songs kept me awake" Edo replied. Then his cellphone went off. |
"Who's that?" Kasanagi asked as Edo answered his phone. She blushed slightly, a bit embarassed that she'd kept Edo awake when he should've been getting some rest.
Note to self; pick a few more non-creepy songs for my next concert. She thought. "Beauty resume?" Melhana asked. |
"You know, cleaning, toning, moisturize? That kind" Mana replied.
Edo picked up the phone. "Hello?" he answered. |
"Ok...." Melhana replied, not exactly into beauty.
"Is this Edo Pheonix?" The voice on the other end of the phone asked. "Either way, it doesn't really matter. We've got our eyes on a person who's very close to you." |
"sorry about that. I meet you at Bakura's quarters in 2 hours" and Mana hung up.
"Hey! Leave us two out of it" Edo growled. |
"I'm sorry, but we can't leave anyone who stands against us out of it. That includes you and your girlfriend." The voice said. "And I'd think twice about entering that tournament, Pheonix." The person on the other end hung up.
Kasanagi was looking at Edo with worried eyes. "What's happened?" She asked. "Got it," Melhana said as Mana hung up. Well, time to start the party plans.... She strode out of the locker rooms to see Jack still laying on one of the benches. "Breakfast break, Atlas." She said. "And judging by your groaning, I think you need more than just breakfast." She dug in her sports bag and dropped several scrolls on his chest. "Read those and be back here right after lunch. Got it?" "Why?" Jack moaned. "You trying to turn my brain into jello like you did with my muscles?" "Quit complaining you big baby." Melhana said. "With any luck, studying those might actually get your brain working. And since those are in the old script..." She plopped another book on his chest, next to the scrolls. "That should help you translate them into Japanese so you can actually read them." Jack thumped his head on the bench. "Why can't you just give them to me in Japanese?" He groaned. "It'd be too easy. Having you translate them will force you to study what you're reading. You'll thank me later." Melhana replied, heading out. "Sure. Just like I'll be thanking you for killing me with all this 'training'..." Jack grumbled. "I heard that!" Melhana called back. |
"I guess that they don't know that I'm one of the organisers of the tornament and I won't be entering in it. Meaning that we're safe, for now. But we have to keep an eye on Ashleigh though. She's the one that they were hunting down for a long time" Edo said.
Yana and Yuzuki followed Nefe to Bakura's quarters. "You sure that it's going to cheer her up?" Yana asked. |
"I'm hoping it will." Neferhenta said. She was about to knock on the door when she heard Jonouchi and Ryuji having another one of their arguments. "Great...." She said, knocking on the door.
Kasanagi took her head off Edo's shoulder and gripped his hand with hers. "I've got a feeling that we'll be fine, and so will everyone else." She said. "Just as long as we don't lose our minds in all this." |
"I just hope so" Edo replied.
There was a thonk on the door in reply. "Um...should we enter?" Yana asked. |
"That's what I'm debating." Neferhenta said. "It sounds too dangerous right now."
"Hey guys," Melhana said. "I've already gotten hold of Honda and Mana." She heard the banging around in the room, accompanied by plenty of swearing and Bakura's attempts to stop whoever was tearing apart his apartment. "Oh boy. Whatever's going on in there doesn't sound too good...." "So do I," Kasanagi said. She sat there for a moment, wishing that they both had normal lives. "I'm going to get something to eat down in the cafeteria. Wanna come with?" |
Yana kicked open the door to see the boys fighting each other over nothing.
"Idiots" she said. "Sure, why not. After that we should get some sleep" Edo replied, finally yawning. |
Kasanagi stood up and stretched. "Yeah," She yawned. Without warning she started running out of the auditorium. "Last one there has to buy!"
"NO WAY IN HELL'RE YOU ASKING MY SISTER OUT!!!" Jonouchi was yelling. "Oh, SHUT UP! YOU'VE GOT THE WORST OLDER BROTHER COMPLEX I'VE EVER HEARD OF!!!" Ryuji shouted back. "SHUT THE HELL UP! BOth of you!" Bakura yelled. "Melhana, help me out here!" "ON it!" Melhana said. She grabbed Jonouchi under the arms before he could launch himself at Ryuji, Bakura doing the same to Ryuji. "What the hell were they fighting about this time?" Neferhenta groaned. "Ryuji decided to make a joke about asking Jonouchi's younger sister, Shizuka, out on a date." Bakura replied. "Needless to say, Jonouchi didn't take it very well." "Lemme go Melhana! I'm gonna bash that asshole's skull in!" Jonouchi growled. "That's why I'm holding you back idiot!" Melhana snapped. |
