Jack nodded in agreement. He turned back to Aki. He placed a hand on the girl's shoulder. "Keep it together," he said as he started extracting himself from the girl's mind.......
Jack took a deep breath as he returned to his body. He collapsed, exhausted from the endevour. "Jack!" Melhana exclaimed, helping him up. "What the heck did you do in there? You've overtaxed yourself!" |
Aka also detached from Aki.
"He have done well for a signer" she said, "and as I thought to. Her defense system was vines." |
Jack was silent for a moment as he got his bearings back. "Yeah...and I nearly got strangled too." He said. He disentagled himself from Melhana's support, showing that he wasn't so weakened that he could stand on his own. Melhana eyed him suspiciously as he swayed for a second or two before steadying himself. "I managed to help her break free though. She's depressed, like before we met her."
"You think she'll go all the way back to how she was?" Melhana asked. Jack shrugged. |
"Time will tell. I guess that she needs to have some time alone to rest' Aka said, "And it took ages for Ashleigh to be back to her old self too."

"True," Melhana replied. She had to admit that Aki was looking a bit better now. She turned her attention to Jack. "Hey, aren't you paired up with Sakura for your duel tomorrow?"
Jack paused in leaving the room. "Yeah..." He said. "Try not to get clobbered too badly." |
Aka was heading out to the dressing room to do the last minute touch ups for the concert.
I hope that my concert cheers everyone up she thought. |
Melhana and Jack emerged from the double doors, and Crow immediatly stood up. "Is Aki all right?" he asked right away.
"She's fine. Jack here managed to get her out of the crystal she was stuck in, but the idiot overtaxed himself." Melhana replied. Jack looked at her indignantly. "Oi! I thought what I pulled off was worth more than a 'you're an idiot' speech! A thank you or a 'good job' would be nice!" Melhana glared at him. "I'm not going to deny that you did pull off something that not many apprentice mages can do, but you still overtaxed yourself." She replied. "Whoa, hang on. What the heck did Jack do that was such a good job?" Crow asked. "He entered someone else's mind, survived their mental defenses, and broke someone free of a crystal, and came back out sane." Melhana replied. "Not something that's easy for the most accomplished mages. However, he also managed to exhaust himself and nearly get killed in the process." |
Dark Ashleigh, who was eavesdropping, shook her head.
'So much as trapped in crystal for a week Sei' she mindlinked. |
Yusei scowled. 'I wasn't intending for it to be permanent, but they managed to get the girl out faster than I thought.' He replied. 'But, I'm going to be dueling her after the tournament anyway. And don't call me Sei.'

Dark Ashleigh coughed.
'Sorry, but if I have to keep as Ashleigh, I have to say it to keep the cover hidden. Just in case the mindlink is intercepted' she replied. |
'All right, all right. Speaking of your cover, how's it working?' Yusei replied.
Meanwhile, Selena had since left the infirmary so that she could get some sleep for the next round of the tournament. Well, that was partially true; she was also worried about Sora Yuki. Sure enough, when she went looking for the girl back at Omega, she was visiting Judai (who had been moved from the infirmary at the Kaiba Dome that morning). "Still no change, I see." Selena typed. Sora jumped. There were dark circles under her eyes. Poor girl hasn't been getting much sleep. "No, there hasn't." Sora replied. "The only thing that's changed is the fact that one of the doctors closed his eyes so that he doesn't look so...well, dead." |
'I'm about to see if it did work before overhearing about their success. Here goes nothing' Dark Ashleigh said and walked out.
"So, what's the situation with Aki?" she asked the group. |
"She's fine," Melhana replied. "Jack managed to get her out of that crystal she was trapped in." Jack was looking away, a rare sight.
"What? You bashful or something?" Crow prompted with a grin on his face. "No. However, that stupid look on your face is tempting me to hurt you." Jack replied. "WHy you--!" Crow started, but Melhana put herself between the two of them. "Okay boys, cut it out. Just because this is an infirmary doesn't mean you can go duking it out." She said. |
"Woah....don't you dare hit on your best friend's girlfriend alright?" Ashleigh said, "I know you looked at one place to make you blush."

"I wasn't hitting on his girlfriend!" Jack and Crow said in unison. Melhana laughed her butt off.
"Well, that's one way to create an awkward situation." She said, laughing. |
"You're not hiding it that well" Ashleigh replied, giggling.

"What're you trying to say there?!" Jack demanded, flustered.
"Jack, don't you have Carly to hit on?" Crow teased. Jack turned on him. "SAY THAT AGAIN CROW HOGAN AND I'LL STRANGLE YOU!!!!" "Enough already, children." Melhana said, stressing the word 'children'. |
'Yep, the enchantment worked. No suspisions as of yet though' Ashleigh mindlinked to Yusei.
"This is so funny" she said, giggling. |
'Good. I'm pretty sure that Kaimiri wouldn't want you to get caught.' Yusei replied.
"For you!" Jack snapped in reply. His red face was making Melhana and Crow laugh even harder. "Oi!" "Sorry, Jack, but you're just too easy to wind up." Crow said. Once again, Jack sputtered. "Okay, I think we'd all better leave before either we're kicked out or Jack tries murdering Crow." Melhana said, heading for the exit. |
"What about Aka's concert? Are you guys going to support her?" Ashleigh asked, "she has been practicing hard."

"I am, I don't know about those two." Melhana replied.

"I hope that Aka will preform to the best of her abilities" Ashleigh said.

"So do I." Melhana replied.
"Who's Aka?" Crow asked. Jack brushed past them. "Hey! Where you going?" "Back to Omega. I need to get some rest after that little excursion." Jack replied. "And I'm still sore from this morning..." "Well, we're not done for the day, Atlas!" Melhana replied. "Once I'm back at HQ, we're going to work on your magic control again." Jack groaned. "Oh, shut up, you pansy." |
"The woman who helped Jack to save Aki. She's my Yami. Her full name is Akatenchi" Ashleigh explained.
'Remind me to wash my mouth out with mouthwash when we get home' she mindlinked to Yusei, 'I hate that Yami so much.' |
"Oh." Crow replied.
'Then do it. It's not my problem.' Yusei replied. He was going over his deck, figuring the best cards to use against Aki. |
