"How did...what did....Who are you?" He finally asked, after his brain decided which question to ask first.

"I am the Queen of Eternity. You and your wife woken my spirit but yet, not my body. I am the protector of the Shards" the woman replied.

"The protector..." Yugi whispered. "Then why didn't you do anything to stop Mokuba and Sho from getting killed?"

"I got awaken recently Yugi from a long slumber. The ruler of Oblivion put me to a deep slumber for all this time" the woman replied, "If I was truly awaken, this would have not happened."

"I see," Yugi replied. "In other words, you can't do very much right now."

"Yes, but I never go back on my word. I will make sure that your wife will be safe. Even if I revive her and give her a new heart. Her powers will be untacked. I will strip most of her powers for safe keeping" the woman said.

"Right," Yugi replied. "At least now Kaimiri won't be able to use her power against us...."

"Sadly, that is not the case. My body is still asleep so Kaimiri and his father is still powerful. But your wife has a powerful light that equals to my powers" the woman continued, "she is your shining light and hardly anyone noticed it. Reason why she is always targeted and under his control. Only you know the full extent of this powerful light that is within her."

Yugi nodded, slowly. "So....how can you be woken up?" He asked.

"You will know when the time comes. It can be fore many centuries since you are an angel spirit am I correct?" the woman replied.

"So it could easily be after I'm gone," Yugi replied. "So...the only reason you're here is because Ashleigh and myself have triggered something, or is there some other reason?"

"Yes, you have triggered something but of what kind, you should know" the woman replied.

Yugi nodded. "Ashleigh was willing to sacrifice herself to save everyone...and so was I." He replied. He balled his hands up into fists at his sides. "Damn it...I couldn't do anything to stop this either..." A single tear slid down his face.

"True, but there is a reason why you want to sacrifice yourself and this is a very rare occasion that even Kaimiri doesn't know about it" the woman said, making Yugi wide eyed.

"Then...why?" Yugi asked. "What kind of occasion is this...?"

"Once every 1000 years, there's a family who all have heart shards. And it keeps going in the cycle: 500 years, the ultimate shard appears and 1000 years, a family of shards. This is the first time I heard that the family shards and the ultimate shard appeared in the same occurance" the woman explained, "and on top of that, there are two ultimate shards which is really rare."

It didn't take long to Yugi to put the pieces together. "You're saying...that my kids are Shards too?!" He asked. "And what do you mean, two Ultimate Shards?!"

"Almost. You are a shard, but no ordinary shard" the woman said, letting Yugi to piece in the last piece.

"Wait...what?" Yugi whispered in disbelief. "You mean, I'm the second Ultimate Shard?" Now it was making sense; his unusually strong aura, the power he had but nobody else in his family did, why he was a mage of blood, when there wasn't supposed to be any magical blood in his veins.
And why his power was so close to Atem's in strength. |
"That is correct. But Kaimiri doesn't know that and only thinks that there is one. As long as you don't tell anyone, you will be safe" the woman replied, "that's why you are singled out in your family. Same with Ashleigh. She was also singled out from her family, let alone being an only child. You two are meant to be together no matter what."

"You don't have to worry about that," Yugi replied. "So....Will this run in the family?"

"No, it doesn't run in the family" the woman replied, "just make sure your children is protected at all costs. I presume your son is back at boarding school?"

"He is," Yugi replied. "I made sure that he didn't go unprotected though; a squad went with him as protection for not just him, but anyone that he's friends with, so Kaimiri can't get to them either."

"If that is the case, what about your daughter?" the woman asked.

"There's a squad guarding her as well," Yugi replied. "I'm not about to let Kaimiri ger my children."
