"Ashleigh, please listen to yourself!" Yugi said. "I won't let you die, and I most certainly will not let you kill yourself." He picked his dogtags up from the ground. Then the thought hit him.
"I think...I know a solution to this problem." He said. |
"Every solution failed Yugi. I don't want to hear it" Ashleigh said and entered the lift.
"And don't even bother following" se added as the lift doors began to close. |
Yugi hung his head in dispair. She doesn't even have any hope anymore, he thought. He could feel his heart breaking. There's only one solution we haven't tried...and you won't even consider it....

Ashleigh slumped down to the floor of the lift and began to cry.
"I don't want to go through this anymore. I want to get out of here" she said aloud, "I wish I had a normal heart, not a stupid piece of crystal!" |
At that moment, the lift stopped and the doors opened to admit Melhana. "Ashleigh?" She asked when she saw the woman crying. Melhana entered and knelt down next to her, and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "What's wrong?"

"Leave me alone Melhana" Ashleigh replied and ran out of the lift to her quarters and slammed the door, leaving Melhana totally confused.

Melhana stood in the lift as the doors closed. "What's wrong with her?" She asked, worried.

It was late when Yugi entered the quarters. There was boxes everywhere and Ashleigh was lying on the couch with a gun in hand. It wasn't loaded though. Her uniform was neatly placed on the table with the wig and contacts she usually wear with it. With this sight, Yugi knew that he has to wake her up. It was his last chance to talk her out of it, both leaving, suicide and reminding her that she was special.

"Ashleigh, no!" Yugi shouted. He ran to the couch and placed a gentle hand on hers. "Ashleigh, don't, it's not worth it. You're worth more than suicide."

"Now what do you want?" Ashleigh snapped, "it's not worth it anymore being trapped here! I want out now!" She aimed the gun at Yugi.

Yugi spread his arms. "Fine then," he said. "If you want out that bad, then shoot me." He closed his eyes, not fully knowing what Ashleigh's choice was going to be.

Ashleigh pulled the trigger. There was a bang, but it was a blank bullet. Yugi opened his eyes to see Ashleigh dropping the gun, teared eyed. "Now do you believe me? There is no hope left. I'm not even going to do the angel's plan anymore. My heart is broken, I'm not powerful enough and everyone is treating me like an animal. I'm moving out tomorrow and that's that" she said. Yugi walked over and hugged her. "You don't have to do this" he said, noticing a beautiful kimono, a piece of rope and a knife, "I'm not letting you to take your life. I know. It's not worth it. I tried to do the same thing but if it wasn't for Grandpa, I would've been dead by now." "But I'm still leaving" Ashleigh said, "I done my time here and somebody have to look after the house and the bills are overdue. I want to live a normal life." "Why not wait till 2 weeks. It give you time to say goodbye to everyone, including Yana" Yugi said. "About Yana. I'm taking her with me. I don't want her to feel how I feeling. Being monitored 24/7, not allowed to actually leave the compound until you are ready to leave" Ashleigh said "I want her to have the freedom to choose what's best for her, not the federation." "That's not true" Yugi said. "It is true" Ashleigh replied. Yugi sighed. "Look, don't leave tomorrow. I'm going to show you that you are part of the federation no matter what. Wear that kimono but leave the string and knife behind though." "Ok, fine. But I'm not kidding about leaving the federation though" Ashleigh snapped. Yugi kissed her then left the room. "Everyone, I need your help" he mindlinked to everyone, including Melhana who was already coming up the hall, "Ashleigh's totally suicidal and we need to snap her out of it. And she wasn't kidding about leaving the federation, she's even taking Yana with her." |
'I'm right outside your door, so that's not much of a problem.' Melhana linked.
'What?!' Selena replied in shock. 'I'm on my way right now. There's no way in hell that Ashleigh's committing suicide. We've got to stop her!' 'I know. That's why I'm telling you guys.' Yugi linked back. 'How long until you're here?' 'I'm in the lift now.' Selena replied. |
"I totally know that feeling. I be up there as soon as I can" Atem replied.
"How many times did I tell you? You can't mess with Free Will Yugi" Ruby linked back, "One way or another, it's going to help with the Angel's plans. Kaimiri never takes a shard out of a dead vessal. But on the other hand though, has she attempted suicide before?" |
'No, she hasn't.' Yugi replied. 'That's why I'm worried.'

"Then this is really bad. I would cone and help you out but I don't want to leave Aki here" Ruby said.
In about 10 minutes, there was a meeting outside the quarters. Seeing how Yugi coped with the situation so far, he looked pretty broken and shook up. "So, what are we going to do about this?" Atemu asked. |
"We need to find a way to let Ashleigh know that suicide is the last thing she should do," Selena replied. "That, and make Kaimiri think that she's dead all at the same time."
"That's what I was going to try and tell her too, but she doesn't want to hear any of it." Yugi said. "Right now my main concern is getting Ashleigh thinking straight. This isn't like her at all, and I'm worried." |
"I think it's because of the stress she has lately" Atem said, "I mean, it's a lot of pressure to keep one safe but being control, being turned into a dark angel and can't remember, having the world on her shoulders AND being a mother at the same time, isn't to good for her. And she wants to leave here right?"

Yugi nodded. "And honestly, I can't blame her for that." He replied. "I can't wait until all of this is over so that I can go back home too."
"You and me both," Melhana said. "Yeah," Selena agreed. "Right now, being in a small town seems really appealing." |
Aka was silent for a while during this was said.
"And she wants to leave tomorrow right?" she asked. |
Yugi nodded. "I'm worried that if she does leave, then Kaimiri will get to her." He replied. "I'm also worried if she'll change her mind and attempt suicide."
Selena pulled off of one of her cuffs. "I think you all remember this," she said, showing the scars on her wrists. |
Atem looked at the scar, then to Yugi who had no idea about the scar.
"Selena and myself had the exact feeling but she took it one step further" he explained. "Why not let her?" Aka said, "Since I'm her Yami, I have to go with her anywhere anyway. The only place I can't break the barrier yet is Oblivion." |
Selena nodded. "Atem snapped me out of it though, amazingly. Well, with the help of Jonouchi...who got punched in the face."
"Don't remind me." Jonouchi grumbled. "I hope that you won't have to end up in Oblivion. Or Ashleigh, for that matter." Yugi said. He turned to Selena. "I know this may bring up sone bad memories...but can you please help convince Ashleigh out of this?" |
"You sure it will work?" Aka asked.
"I agree. As we all know, that if her mind is made up, that's it" Atem added. |
Selena nodded. "But Yugi's right; it's worth a shot. And since I've been in that mindset before..." she gave an odd shrugging motion. "I might be able to get through to her. In some way at least."
