Gabriel nodded. He ran to Uriel's study, praying that he would be in time for his student.
"Damn it, he isn't going to open the door." Selena muttered. "I guess I'll just have to get in the old fashioned way." She pulled a couple pins out of her hair and started picking the lock. |
Ashleigh was totally panicking right at that point.
My....powers......is going out of control she thought, I....can't stop it. Where are you when I need you the most Selena? and a tear slid down her face. |
As an answer to that question, Selena was at Kaiba's door, picking the lock so she could prevent the walking-talking mass of ego from killing himself.
She let out a whoop of victory as the lock gave. She slammed into Kaiba's quarters and looked around. "What room is he in?" She asked Mokuba. Kaiba heard Selena outside in the living area. She must have picked the lock...doesn't matter, I guess. He thought. He closed his eyes. Slowly, gently, his index finger began to squeeze the trigger. |
'He's in his bedroom' Mokuba said, 'and hurry!
|
"Right," Selena said. She got to the bedroom right as Kaiba had the gun to his head and was about to pull the trigger. "NO!" She shouted, running towards him.
The gun went off. Selena had grabbed Kaiba's wrist just in time to keep the bullet from going into his skull. It buried itself in the ceiling instead. "What the hell did you do that for?!" Kaiba demanded. "Can't you leave well enough alone?!" "Not when one of my friends is about to kill himself!" Selena snapped. "Like it or not, asshole, but some of us actually consider you worth having around." "Shut up!" Kaiba yelled. "You...you...." "I what?" Selena prompted. "Spit it out." |
Big brother, why are you acting like this? Mokuba thought sadly.
Minutes went passes and Gabriel returned back with Uriel. The pain was intense. "Master Uriel, please help me. I tried everything!" Ashleigh cried. |
Kaiba looked away. Right now, that black eye was the last thing he needed to see. "You've never watched your family get murdered." He said quietly.
Selena let go of his arm and backed away. For a moment he thought she was going to leave, until her fist slammed into the side of his face. "What the fuck--?" He blurted out as he hit the side of the bed. "YOU DUMBASS!" Selena shrieked. "I haven't seen my family murdered, I've seen worse. I saw my big sister rip her windpipe open. Herself. Suicide. That's worse than any murder because then you don't know who the hell to blame!" "Like you haven't just wanted to die!" Kaiba shouted back. "Mokuba was all I had left. I cared more about him than I did about myself. If I could've, I'd have switched places with him that day so I would've been the one killed. Not him." Selena's face calmed into a hard mask. She walked over to him and kneeled down. "Fine then," she said, pulling her gloves off. She pushed the sleeves of her riding suit up and showed Kaiba the undersides of her wrists. "I've wanted to curl up and die since I was a kid." She was staring him in the eyes. "These scars are from two suicide attempts. Both in the US. Once right before I came to Japan for the first time, the second during the Orechalcos fiasco. Don't go saying I haven't wanted to die when I've got a bloody death curse on me." "Bring down that barrier, I have something that might work!" Uriel replied. |
"I don't know how" Ashleigh cried, "I'm really scared!"
|
"Then I'll take it down from my side," Uriel replied. "Stay calm." He raised his hands, palms towards the barrier, and uttered a spell in the angelic language to weaken the barrier so he could get through. Now for the dangerous part.... he thought.
Kaiba looked to the ground. He's brooding again. Selena thought, pulling her sleeves back down. "Suicide is the stupid and lazy way out, and you're neither of those. Asshole, yes. Stupid, far from it." She said. "Besides, Mokuba's still hanging around here. You'll hurt still hurt him if you kill yourself." She paused. "Not to mention Jonouchi would be bored out of his mind without someone to insult all the time." "Gee, thanks. That makes me feel a lot better." Kaiba deadpanned. Good to see he's still got some of that sarcasm in him. Selena thought. |
Ashleigh nodded and counted to stay calm.
I hope it works she thought. |
The barrier weakend, then dissapeared completely. Uriel nearly lost his balance from the resulting power shockwave. "Gabriel, put up a shield to protect the others." He ordered. Gabriel nodded and did as he said. There's too much of a power overflow to put this necklace on right now. I'm going to have to let some of it bleed off. He thought.
"Ashleigh, put your hands in mine. I'll let some of the excess power bleed into me so that I can get this necklace on." He said. "It will allow you to regulate your power better so you won't go out of control." |
Ashleigh nodded and by her surprise, was able to put her hands in Uriel's. Uriel nodded and the girl closed her eyes. She felt the excess power draining out of her. After the procedure was over, Ashleigh fell into Uriel's arms.
"I'm sorry I lost control Master Uriel" she whispered before passing out. the next morning, she awoken to see Uriel and Gabriel standing there in her bedroom. "Wha-what happened to me yesterday?" she asked. |
"You lost control of your power during our trainin session." Gabriel replied. "I had to go get Uriel to bring your power under control."
"I had to let some of your power bleed off into me." Uriel replied. He had his hands bandaged where the girl's power had burned them. "It...did not go well for me. I needed Gabriel's help to get to the infirmary before I passed out. You have a rather violent aura, Ashleigh Mutou." |
"What?" Ashleigh exclaimed, "How can that be possible?"
|
"I am looking into that." Uriel replied. "The burns on my hands should have healed by now."
|
"Then how can I, somebody who looses control, can be the princess everyone's talking about?" Ashleigh said. Both Uriel and Gabriel looked at each other.
|
"Sometimes, things are not as they seem." Uriel said.
"And you were geniunely afraid of what was happening." Gabriel said. |
"So your saying that my emotions are connected with my aura?" Ashleigh asked.
|
"That is the only explanation I can think of, and it makes sense." Uriel replied. "They are even more tightly intertwined with your aura than normal."
|
"What does that suppose to mean?" Ashleigh asked.
|
"It means," Uriel said, "that you must find a way to either seperate your aura and your emotions, or keep your emotions under better control."
|
"And how can I do that?" Ashleigh asked, then saw Uriel hatching a plan.
|
"We are going to suspend your training here." Uriel replied. "You will finish it, do not worry, but I am going to send you to train with the dark angels for the time being. I have already contacted their leader."
|
"What?" Ashleigh exclaimed, "Why are you doing that for?"
|
"Because they will be the best for training you to keep your emotions and your aura seperate." Uriel replied. "You will return here when you are done training with the dark angels, and we will stay in contact with you."
