"You going to abandon me?" Ashleigh exclamed, "I can't believe this!"

"We aren't abandoning you, Ashleigh." Uriel said gently. "You will not be there alone, either. We are sending Ruby with you, as she knows a girl with the dark angels."

"You are? I don't get this" Ashleigh said.

"Right now, your aura is too volatile for training safely." Gabriel explained. "You should be back within a few months."

"Oh" the girl said softly.
That's probaly why I loose control she thought.

Gabriel placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "We will still be in contact with you and Ruby, though." He said. "If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to use that contact."

Ashleigh nodded.
"I wished I dealt with my aura earlier" she whispered, "I really do."

"It would have made things easier, true," Uriel replied, "but the only ones who can see the future are the seers. And even they sometimes are wrong."

"I see" Ashleigh replied, "So, when do I leave?"

"The day after tomorrow," Uriel replied. "We need to call Ruby back from the world of life and give you time to recover from your aura overload."

"Ok then" Ashleigh said, "I hop I didn't really harm anyone."

"Other than myself, no." Uriel replied. "And the injuries I sustained were not life-threatening either, so no harm done."

"That's good" Ashleigh replied.

"Do you think you will be all right for the rest of the day?" Uriel asked.

After a moment, Selena picked up the gun Kaiba had dropped. "So, that disaster's been averted." She said.

"...Selena," Kaiba said quietly, still sitting up against his bed. Selena looked.

"Yeah?"

Kaiba paused. "Have you ever stopped to think about what would've happend if your suicide attemps had worked?" He asked.

Selena unloaded the pistol and placed it on the dresser. "Yeah, sometimes." She said. "Heh, now I know what Atem felt like when he saw me slitting my wrists the second time."

"I hope so" Ashleigh said, "I don't want to hurt anyone."

"That is what we are trying to prevent," Gabriel replied. "That necklace you're wearing is to regulate your aura and make it easier to control until you're done training with the dark angels."

"You talk about that like it's nothing," Kaiba said. "It doesn't make sense. You're not right in the head."

Selena chuckled. "You're just now figuring that out? I remember when you were a nutjob too, y'know." She said. "I cite Death-T."

Kaiba stood. "I'm not proud of that, if it makes you feel better." He replied.

"Oh, I see" Ashleigh said, "Why does it have to be me to be so powerful beyond my understanding?"

"If we knew that, then the universe would find some other way to throw a wrench in the wheels of time." Gabriel replied.

"True" Ashleigh said tried to stand up, but feel back on the bed.

"Careful; you're still feeling the aftereffects of your loss of control." Gabriel said. "You're going to be on the weak side for a while."

Ashleigh nodded and yawned.
"And a bit sleepy too" she admitted.

"Then it's probably best you get some rest." Gabriel said, rising.

Selena was quiet for a moment. "Believe it or not, until I met Yugi and the gang--including you--I thought about killing myself a lot." She said finally. "This sounds really corny, but if it wasn't for my friends, I'd be dead now."

"Bullshit," Kaiba replied. "Don't you have friends in America?"

"Psht, no." Selena replied. "Back 'home' is the one place I wanted to escape. I wanted to go someplace where I wasn't a freak and hated by everyone around me."

Ashleigh nodded.
"I hope I can get out of this alive" she said.

"You will." Gabriel replied.

Ashleigh nodded and closed her eyes.
