"I've got a hunch on how to get Atem back, but..." Melhana said. She bit her lip. "Yugi's in surgery right now. According to what I heard from Selena through mindlink, Yugi was in a Shadow Duel and won, but he didn't come out unharmed."

Usualy, Anzu cried out what and said all this mumble jumble about Yugi's safety and how it bring him more danger but instead, the took a huge breath.
"I knew one of these days that Yugi will be harmed in something like that but he always insisted" she said sadly. |
"Selena didn't say much, but from what she told me it was pretty serious. About all I got out of her was that he was unconcious, but her tone told me the rest." Melhana said as the doors shifted open. The doctor exiting them stepped back as Ashleigh was moved to her new hospital room.
"Well, he's out of surgery." The doctor said. "But he'll still take a while to recover. Would you like to see him?" |
"I guess it's best for me....." Anzu started to say but her hand was gripped by Melhana.
I really need to have some time alone Anzu thought. |
"I'll go with you." She said. "All I got was a glimpse as he was rushed to the ER by Ashleigh's room. Besides, it's probably best that someone's there in case..." She trailed off, following Anzu to Yugi's room.
When the doctor let them in, Melhana had to bite her tongue to keep from gasping. Yugi was unconcious all right; from the look of the bandages wrapped around his chest and shoulder, he'd lost a lot of blood. The mask over his nose and mouth fogged with his breath, and the steady beep of a heart rate monitor could be heard in the background. His skin was nearly as white as the sheets he was lying on. Melhana set her face into a frown, eyes still wide from the scene. What the hell happened? She thought. |
Anzu couldn't control herself and broke out crying.
"This is totally worse than both the fire incident and him drowning put together" she said though her tears. |
Melhana put her arm around Anzu's shoulder as she led the other woman to a chair next to the bed. Anzu settled into it without complaint, tears still streaming down her face. Dragging the chair from the other side of the room and straddling it so she was sitting on it backwards, she rested her chin on her arms. I'm not gonna cry. She told herself with damp eyes. Damn, what turned me into such a softy?

Meanwhile In Yusei's room, Marcia sat next to his bed.
"I'm going to head off soon because of my graduation. But I be back. I promise. We will get down to the bottom of this" she said. Then her phone went off. It was a vid message. "It's from Yukai" and watched it. Yukai recorded the blue hair dye incident. On Sora's que, the bucket landed on Judai and he woke up with a start. He took the bucket off his hair, revealing the blue hair. Marica cracked up laughing and saved the vid. I have to show the others. I guess this would cheer up everone she thought and teleported for her graduation and perfect harmony. She hopes when her training is complete, she would help to get rid of the shadows once and for all. |

In the waiting room, Selena was massaging her throat. Damn, what's wrong? She thought. It's not supposed to hurt this soon. I know I barely let my throat rest, but it still shouldn't be hurting this soon. Not unless it's becoming too damaged to use my "speaking" ability. It was true; she hated to admit it, but every time she "spoke", she tasted blood. I'll have to cause Kamikaze Sakura to become mute soon as well. |
Ashleigh woke up. This wasn't the same room but for some reason, she felt safer. She clasped the necklace in her hand.
One day Atem, we'll get your body back she thought to herself. Again the door opened and she was ready to strike this time. |
It was Melhana. "Okay, no need to try and kill me." She said. She'd left her halberd in a corner of the waiting room when she'd gone to see Yugi after he'd gotten out of surgery. She pulled up a chair at the foot of Ashleigh's bed and sat on it backwards. "There's something I want to ask you regarding Atem and Yugi."

"Um.....ok...." she replied.
Please don't ask about how I met them she thought. |
"I'm pretty sure you remember that Atem and Yugi were bonded through the Millenium Puzzle. Well, what I was thinking was, until we can find some way to get Atem his body back, those two share a body again." Melhana said. "It only makes sense, and they know each other probably better than any of us could wish to. There's no doubt that they still have that bond between them."

"um....that could be weird but that't the best option we got" Ashleigh replied and looked at the wall which replaced the window because of the area they were in.
"Can you fill me in what happened in the last few days?" she asked Melhana. |
"It all depends on whether or not Yugi and Atem agree to it." Melhana replied. The she sighed. "All right, if you really want to hear..."
She explained all the craziness that was going on, and how Omega was starting to gear up for the upcoming Shadow Games again. Then she paused as she came to the part where Selena had told her about Yugi, and the fact that he'd come out of a Shadow Duel wounded and was now recouperating down the hall. |
"Don't worry about the duel. the necklace showed me it" Ashleigh replied, "but what do they want with me?"
Be careful what you going to say Melhana Aka warned. |
"I was the one who had them bring you here. You're in the Omega Federation's medical division. Trust me, you're in as good care as if you were in a regular hospital; better, probabaly. Not as many strange questions." Melhana replied, giving Aka a mental nod of assurance.
"So, since the Tauk showed you the duel, you know what happened to both Yusei and Yugi, and about..." Melhana trailed off. "I don't know all the details; Selena only gave me a quick explanation through mindlink, so I don't know all of what happened." |
"Yusei got hit by a virus bullet. As I understand, they got the bullet out but the virus which I have no idea what it is, is spreading. But what I don't undeerstand is this. The shadow realm making a duelist coughing up blood" Ashleigh replied, "and about who?" she added.

"There's a reason Yugi was coughing up blood; according to Selena, the attacks were very real, including the direct ones. From what I understand, Yugi got hit by a direct attack and sustained a pretty bad wound from it. I just came from his room; Anzu lost it when she saw his condition." Melhana explained. "And the person I was referring to was Bandit Keith...or what was left of him."

"My poor poor husband" Ashleigh broke down, then that sadness turned into anger.
"Mark my words, whoever was after my husband, will die a slow horrible and painful death" she vowed. |
"You're a bit late on that. I may not know all the details, but I made my own deductions from what Selena got through to me. From what she was blabbering about, Keith was already dead, meaning that he's one of two things; a zombie--and I'm pretty sure we all know those don't exist--or a corpse puppet, which is the next best thing." Melhana pointed out. "In other words, Yugi was dueling someone who was already dead."

"That's not what I ment Melhana. Somebody is behind all of this and I will find out one way or another" Ashleigh said.

"Got that right," Melhana said. "Or several people."

YOu have to calm Ashleigh down. She's going to go out of control Aka mindlinked to Melhana. And sure enough, Ashleigh's aura was on fire. It was an firery red.

It's the same color as mine. Melhana thought in an instant, immedeatly jumping up and grabbing her arm. "Calm youself, Ashleigh." She said in ancient Egyptian, reverberating the words through mindlink as well. "Remember yourself." Under her breath, Melhana cast a small spell to keep the power tamped down. I'll need to try and find a way to create binds similar to the ones I've got. She thought.
When Ashleigh's aura calmed down, Melhana noticed the cinnamon scent on the air. It's the same color as mine, but a different scent. She thought. |
