"See you when you get back, then." Selena replied. Happiness within? Hell, I can barely find happiness without. She thought.

When the pair returned, they continued watching the duel.
"What did we miss?" Ashleigh asked. |
"Not much." Gabriel replied. "Yusei looks like he's having problems with his deck, though."
Yusei drew. He's got two monsters now. And every time I draw, his Silent Magician will gain a level. He thought. On cue, the magician's level went up one and her attack raised by 500 points. And I still can't draw anything to go against him effectively. "I set a card face-down and end." |
"Yusei has to win!" Ashleigh exclaimed, "he just has to!"

"We will have to contiue watching the duel to see if that happens." Uriel said as he returned as well.
Yugi drew. "I'll attack your Speed Warrior with my Silent Magician!" He said. "I activate Scrap Iron Scarecrow!" Yusei countered. Yugi smiled. He's falling for it again. "Now I attack with my Obnoxious Celtic Guardian!" "I activate Power Frame!" Yusei said, flipping one of the cards face-up. "It negates your attack and raises the attack of my Speed Warrior by the difference." Yugi smiled. "Nice save." he said. "I end." |
"That was a close one" Ashleigh sighed.
"Agreed" Lanchia said. |
Yusei drew. "I summon Nitro Synchron in defense mode." He said. "And since Quillbolt Hedgehog is in my Graveyard, I can summon him to my field when I have a Tuner on my field."
Yugi frowned. He can't be trying another Synchro Summon. My Special Block spell is still in play. He thought. Yusei activated a spell of his own. "I activate Double Cyclone." He said. "I destroy my Power Frame to destroy your Special Block!" The trap and spell were both destroyed. "Now I play a spell from my hand; Plus Level!" A die appeared on the field. "Whichever monster I choose gets a level boost according to the number that comes up on the die." Yusei said. "So no matter what number I get, I'll have all the monsters I need to Synchro Summon." The die flew into the air before falling back down on the ground. It rolled before finally stopping. It was a 1. "Perfect. I'll apply that level to Nitro Synchron." Yugi stood back and smiled. A Synchro Summon. Lay it on me, Yusei. He thought. "I tune my Speed Warrior and Quillbolt Hedgehog to my Nitro Synchron to summon Nitro Warrior!" Yusei announced. The warrior in question appeared on the field from the three seperate monsters. "Nitro Warrior, attack Yugi's Obnoxious Celtic Guardian!" The attack went through...but the warrior was still standing, even though Yugi still took damage. (Yugi LP: 3100) "My guardian can't be destroyed by any monsters with more than 1900 attack points." He said. Yusei nodded. "I place two cards face-down and end my turn." |
"Yusei is really nailing Yugi big time" Ashleigh said, "but is he holding back on purpose?"
"I still don't get it. Why did mum revive me when I wanted to be with her?" Yana asked Selena after she got changed. The pair was walking down to the Kaiba dome. |
"My only guess is it wasn't your time." Selena replied. "More than I can say for me. It's past my time."
"Question is, which one is holding back; Yugi, or Yusei?" Uriel said. Yugi drew. Nice. He thought. "I play Graceful Charity." he said, placing the card in his duel disk. He drew the two cards, and discarded two of them, one of which was Dark Magician. "Now, I activate Monster Reborn to bring my Dark Magician back from the Graveyard!" "When he'd get in there?" Yusei asked as the King of Games' signature monster appeared on the field. "When I played Graceful Charity just now." Yugi replied. "I also equip him with Magic Formula, which increases his attack by 500 points! Dark Magician, attack his Nitro Warrior!" The attack went through, destroying Nitro Warrior. "Now I'll attack you directly with Silent Magician and Obnoxious Celtic Guardian!" "I activate Half Shield!" Yusei said, activating the trap. "All damage I take this turn is halved!" (Yusei LP: 1750) "I end." Yugi said. |
"I know" Yana said, "You're really determined to break the curse huh?"

Selena nodded. "You better believe it." She replied.
Yusei drew. "I summon Drill Synchron in attack mode, and now that he's on the field I can summon Boost Warrior from my hand in defense mode." He said. "I tune my Boost Warrior to my Drill Synchron to summon Armory Arm!" "Another synchro? Doesn't look like much..." Yugi said as the gauntlet-shaped monster formed on the field. "Thanks to its effect, I can treat Armory Arm as an equip spell and equip it to one of my monsters, giving that monster an extra 1000 attack points." Yusei said. "I'll equip it to my Nitro Warrior and have him attack your Dark Magician!" "I activate Magical Hats!" Yugi countered. Four hats appeared on the field, concealing two of his three monsters and one of his spells. The attack from Nitro Warrior went through...an empty hat. "Looks like my Dark Magician is safe for now." "I end my turn." Yusei said. Damn...I should've seen that one coming. He thought. |
Ashleigh cracked up laughing.
"That's both Yugi's and Atem's favourite move" she said. "Here we are. I hope the duel's not finished" Yana said as they arrived at the Kaiba dome. |
"It must be effective though." Uriel said.
Yugi drew. Right, that should keep him busy for now. And my Dark Magician safe. He thought. I want to see him bring out Stardust Dragon. "I'll pass this turn." |
"You tell me" Ashleigh replied, "And most of the time, it works."

Yusei drew. Weird...he didn't do anything. He thought. "I attack the hat on the far left with Nitro Warrior!"
"You didn't hit a hat with a monster...but you did hit something else instead." Yugi said. "Spellbinding circle!" The trap in question had immobilized Nitro Warrior with a magic circle, and lowered its attack power by 700. "Tch...I end." Yusei said. |
"If Yusei doesn't summon Stardust, there is no way for him to become a Legend" Ashleigh sighed, "It's vital if he wants to follow in Yugi's footsteps."
The two girls entered the britches. "What did we miss?" Yana asked, sitting next to Aoi. |
"He will summon it," Uriel said. "See the look on his face?"
Yugi drew. "I attack your Nitro Warrior with Silent Magician!" He ordered. "I activate Scrap-Iron Scarecrow!" Yusei countered. Come on....I need to draw that card next turn. He thought. "I'll end with that." Yugi said, surprising Yusei. That's...odd. It's like he's trying to coax me into something.... he thought. "Yugi got his Dark Magician out, and now he's got Magical Hats on the field." Aoi replied. "So far Yusei's attacked two of them, and got caught by Spellbinding Circle." |
"That's dad for ya" Yana sighed, then got hugged by Aoi after she said that.
"Yep" Ashleigh said, "And he knows Yugi wants him to summon it." |
Yusei drew. Yes! He thought. "I summon Effect Veiler in attack mode!" He said. "And I'll tune my Nitro Warrior to my Effect Veiler! Gathering bonds, become the light that shines upon; Stardust Dragon!"
Yugi grinned. "I was waiting for you to summon that." He said. "Well, now you've got it." Yusei said. "I equip Stardust with Fighting Spirits, which gives him 300 attack points for every monster on your side of the field!" He pointed to the hat on the right. "I attack the hat on the right!" Stardust let loose with his attack, blowing away the hat but not the monster underneath; Obnoxious Celtic Guardian. Still, Yugi took the damage (Yugi LP: 1600). "I place one card face-down and end my turn." |
"He almost had it" Ashleigh said, "but there are 1 more hat. And we all know who's in that hat."

Uriel nodded. "Yes. The Dark Magician." He said.
Yugi drew. He finally summoned it, Stardust Dragon. He thought. The roar of the crowd wasn't even registering to him right now. Come at me, Yusei, with all you've got. "Since there'e only one hat left, there's not much point in the trap still being active." He said, sending Magical Hats to the Graveyard. "And now I'll activate the Dark Magic Attack spell card! This destroys all spells and traps on your side of the field. So now, your Stardust Dragon's got lower attack points than my Dark Magician. Dark Magician, attack his Stardust Dragon!" Yusei smiled. He doesn't have any spells or traps on his field, Yugi thought. So why is he smiling? "One of the cards you destroyed gets activated once it's sent to the Graveyard." Yusei said. "Different Dimention Battle. Once it's sent to the Graveyard by a monster effect, and that monster attacks, I can end the battle phase immediately and take the monsters involved in the battle out of play until the end of the next turn." "Clever move," Yugi said, slipping his Dark Magician into an inner pocket of his jacket. Yusei did the same with his Stardust Dragon. "I'll end my turn there." |
"Um, I'm confused" Yana said, "Did Yusei plan that all along?"
Ashleigh blinked. "I'm lost" she said, "totally clueless." |
"Possibly," Selena said. This is what I've been waiting to see out of Yusei.
"It looks as if Yusei Fudo is surpassing Yugi Mutou." Uriel said simply. Yusei drew. "I play Second Booster in defense mode," he said. "And I'll activate Pot of Greed, to draw two cards." He drew. A-ha! Just what I needed. "I also activate Tuner Gift, which let's me pay 500 Life Poitnts to summon a Tuner from my deck." One of the cards in his deck was pushed out, and Yusei took it. "I special summon Hyper Synchron!" (Yusei LP: 1250) "Another Synchro Summon, huh?" Yugi asked. "I hope you have more than one trump in your deck." "Oh, I do." Yusei said. "I tune my Second Booster to my Hyper Synchron to synchro summon Lightning Warrior!" The familiar armored warrior descended from the summoning, landing heavily on the ground. "Lightnint Warrior, attack Yugi's Obnoxious Celtic Guardian!" "Activate trap; Soul Shield!" Yugi countered. "I pay half my Life Points to negate your attack and end the battle phase." (Yugi LP: 800) "I set one face-down card and end my turn." Yusei said. One more turn before Stardust and Dark Magician come back to the field. |
"Ah. OK then" Ashleigh said.

Yugi drew. My Silent Magician is strong enough to destroy his Lightning Warrior, but Yusei's face-down no doubt is a way to counter it. He thought. So if I want to attack, I'll have to get rid of it. Questioin is, is it a trap or a magic card? "I activate Magic Textbook," he said, discarding his hand. He drew, and looked at the card. Yes!
"I activate the spell card, Remove Trap!" Yugi said. "And I use it on your face-down." Yusei gritted his teeth and flipped the card face-up, only to have the trap destroyed. Yugi pointed to Yusei's synchro monster. "And now, Silent Sorcerer, attack Yusei's Lightning Warrior!" he said. The mage attacked, but it didn't do anything. "What?!" "The card you destroyed is activated when it is sent to the Graveyard." Yusei said. "Defender from the Grave. I can take it out of play to negate an attack and destroy the attacking monster, and I take 1000 points of damage." (Yusei LP: 250) "Nice move," Yugi said. "I end my turn." And as he did, Dark Magician and Stardust Dragon returned to the field. "And now for the final attack." Selena said. |
