"Whoa," Judai said. "So you're really..." He trailed off.

"That's right. I am really the Dark Magicain" Mahad said smiling.

Judai didn't say anything for a while, then he went nuts. "COOL!" He shouted. "That's freaking awesome! I'm talking to a real mage!"
Max sighed and slid her hand down her face. "You do realize what you've done, right...?" |
"He need to know Max" Mahad snapped back at Max.
"Anyway, I have been a mage since I was a teenager. Atem and myself grew up together as well as a girl called Mana" Mahad explained. |
"And you're all mages?" Judai asked. He didn't answer. "This is too freaking cool!"
"All right, who gave Judai coffee?" Max sighed. |
"This is pure enjoyment. And what is coffee?" Mahad asked.

"Wait...you're in the 21st century and you don't know what coffee is?" Judai asked. "And can become a mage?"
"Only if you've got it in your DNA." Someone said from the doorway. It was Melhana. "And Mahado, Atem, and Mana aren't the only mages here." She snapped her fingers, causing a bright red flame to spring up in the palm of her hand. "I am too." "Does that mean you're from ancient Egypt too?" Judai asked. Melhana shook her head. "I'm the same age as Yugi and the gang. Though my power is no less potent." |
"Also, Yugi is also a mage even thought it's not really in his DNA but some of Atem's magic was rubbed on to him by accident and it stuck. There was nothing we can do about it. The true mage out of the two is Melhana" Mahad said.

"The same thing happened to Ryo Bakura, sort of." Melhana added. "After my father started training him to be a fully-fledged mage, we found out that he had the gene in his DNA for magic, it was just recessive."
Judai just stared blankly for a few seconds. "You do realize that I've got no idea what you just said?" He asked. Melhana sighed. "It was active. Apparently, Theif Bakura had a similar effect on Ryo that Atem did on Yugi; the only difference was that he alread had the gene. Sharing a body with the Theif--no matter how unwilling--must have caused his otherwise latent power to develop." |
"Mel, I think that is enough for now" Mahad said.

"Hey, I was only clarifying." Melhana replied. "I'm not exactly an apprentice anymore."

"Sorry but it's going to be way too much for Judai" Mahad replied.

And sure enough, it was. He had one of those anime looks on his face that said 'I'm so confused I'm dead'.
Melhana sighed. "Sora was right; he does have the brain power of a mosquito." This set Judai off. "Hey!" He exclaimed. "I don't have the IQ of a bug!" Melhana laughed. "Good to see that you're still among the land of the living." She said jokingly. "But there is a little tidbit of info I believe you should know, as long as Mahado here doesn't object." |
Mahad was about to ask but stopped. Instead he said:
"Alright." |
Melhana nodded. She balled her hand into a fist, extinguishing the flame. She shoved both hands in her pockets and leaned up against a wall. "Take a good look, Judai Yuki; do I remind you of anyone?"
Judai looked her up and down. "Uh, not really..." He replied, a bit uncomfortable that a woman was asking him to look her over. "And right after I got this fringe under control," Melhana grumbled. She took her hand out of her pocket and ruffled her blonde fringe. When she put her hand back in her jeans pocket, the messy bangs--combined with the sharp jaw and strong-featured face--made her look remarkably like... "Why do you look exactly like Atem?" Judai asked. Melhana grinned. |
"Exactly. She is also part of Atem's bloodline. To tell you the truth, I was also shocked when I found out but got used to it" Mahad said.

"I'll say." Melhana replied. "But that's a story for another time. I can tell you if you want a few laughs at how our magician friend wouldn't believe that his best friend had a kid later." She winked. "By the way, how's Sora's motocross career going? I heard she got a few medals for Japan at the last Olympics."
"She did," Judai replied. "But, well..." "So her heart's not doing any better, huh?" Melhana asked. Judai nodded. Melhana was about to reply when Max cleared her throat. "It's good to see you three getting up-to-date, but I've got a bit of a mission for you guys. Well, Judai and Melhana that is; we're going to need you to stay here Mahado to help monitor this last duel and see if Ashleigh Mutou's power is fully in-check." She said. |
If Mahad was a 21st Centuary teen, he would've groaned.
"Alright. I was going to see Yugi anyway to see if he's healing probaly" he sighed. If I wanted to, I could've question her authority but I can't risk that. I can't really be bothered doing it Mahad thougth. |

Melhana watched Mahado leave, then turned to Max. "What's the mission you've got for Judai and me?" She asked. |
Mahad walked down to Yugi's room. As he entered, Yusei was sitting by his bedside.
"Yusei? What are you doing here?" Mahad asked. |
"Just thought I'd come in for a visit." Yusei replied. "Well, that, and I'm not much use right now." He added, motioning his arm stuck in a sling.
*** Max told one of the techs to bring up a projection on one of the glass-like screens. He did, spliting the veiw in two so that it showed the mission information as well as the vital signs of Kamikaze Sakura and Edo Pheonix. "This is information we've managed to get from the girls who infiltrated the Dooma HQ." Max said. "We'll be sending agents in again to get more detailed info, but from what they've found it looks like someone's managed to combine the powers of the Orechalcos with those of the Dark Signers." "That doesn't sound good," Judai said. "It's not." Max replied. "And from the hidden camera on Sakura, we've gotten hints of someone having a Millenium Item." "So it's a double mission," Melhana said. "Get info on this new combined powers, and try and steal the Millenium Item." "Not quite, but you're close." Max said. "I want you three to try and take on someone with one of these new cards." She opened a case and pulled out a Duel Monsters card. Melhana felt the pressure of it once the box was opened. It looked like a bright violet version of the Seal of Orechalcos. "Yana managed to get her hands on one of these while she'd been infiltrating with Saharia and Marcia." Judai flinched slightly at the mention of Saharia's name. He'd won, and thus Saharia had used her power to send herself into a temporary coma. "We're not entirely sure of their full power, which is why I'd like for one of you to at least observe a duel with one of these active." "You're crazy." Melhana said, crossing her arms. "Plain and simple, you're crazy. Crazier than me for going through with this crap." "You said it," Max replied. "Wait; what do you mean by the three of us?" Judai asked. "Seto Kaiba will be part of this." Max answered. "He's already been briefed." Melhana pushed her glasses up onto her forehead and pinched her nose. This wasn't going to be pretty, putting her and Kaiba on the same mission...that was just asking for trouble. |
"Those cards are really dangerous. I had trouble controlling it myself. And if you hurry, there's a battle happening on top of the KC building. Kaiba is waiting for you there." The three turned around and there was Yana. She wrapped herself in a blanket.
"Don't worry Max, I will return to my room in the medical quarters. Anyway, when the earthbound immortal is played as the seal is played, no human sould will be sacficed but equally as powerful. Yusei raised an eyebrow. "Centuries? Just how old are you?" He asked.
*** "Thank you for the warning, Yana." Max said. "And you're looking more than a little pale. Are you sure you should be up and about?" |
"Let me put it this way. I'm as old as Atem" Mahad replied.
"Not really but it was one of those feelings that I have to tell you. After a few nights rest, I be back to normal" Yana replied, "The card drains your power and plus what Sakura gave me to use, not a good mix" she said before she turned around and began to walk out. |
