Selena nodded. "Yes," She replied.

"Well, we discussed it and would like to ask you to do the piano peice while us two girls sing. What do you say? That way, you be already on stage when it's time to do your solo" Ashleigh replied.

"I already told you; it's a piano solo, nobody singing." Selena replied. "Just because a song has words to it doesn't mean that they have to be sung."

"Again, this is nothing to with your solo at the end. I'm talking about one of the duets I have to do with Kasanagi and I chose Sally's song. Aka already offered to sing Kasanagi's duet and that has a instermental to it" Ashleigh replied, not loosing her temper for a change.

"Okay," Selena replied. "And you want me to help you practice."

"That's right. When the raid is over, we all go over the peices which needs a piano except yours. You can practice when we leave" Ashliegh said, nodding.

"All right," Selena said. She shoved her hands in her pockets. Should I tell her what I had to do for this mission? She thought. Because of my power, Edo's in the hospital. I overdid it, I know that for a fact--I wasn't supposed to pump that much raw power into his system.
"Ashleigh," Selena said. "There's something that...well, Marcia, Yana, and Saharia all had to do while we had infiltrated in here to help you." Her hands clenched in her pockets. "It invovled some of our friends." |
"Oh, what is it?" Ashleigh asked. She knew it wasn't good, but that Selena was about to say, will hurt her even more.

Selena took a deep breath. "To stay on the good graces of the Dark Signers--especially the head, who knows something's up unfortunatly--we all had to duel one of our own allies and 'kill' them. Don't worry! Nobody was really killed!" She added as she saw the look on Ashleigh's face. "Ryu Marufuji duelled Saharia, Daichi Misawa duelled Marcia, Judai Yuki duelled Yana, and Edo Pheonix went up against me." She looked down. "The only one of the guys who won was Judai. The result of a loss meant, well..." She shrugged. "The loser was sent into a coma that feigned death. Either one of us girls would send the guys into a coma, or we'd impose it upon ourselves. It was already agreed on, and the guys already had a good idea of what they were subjecting themselves to." She hugged herself. "Yana's and Daichi's comas went off without a hitch, but Ryu's heart gave out at the end of his duel, so now he's in critical condition. As for the result of my duel, you can tell right now who won...." She trailed off, indicating that something had gone awry when she'd pumped all that power directly into Edo to shut down his system temporarily.

This time, Ashleigh hugged Selena.
"And you did this to save me? How can I ever repay you all for doing this" she asked, weeping happily. |
"Not crying like a baby for one thing," Selena said. "And don't put your ass on the line as many times as Yugi has. He went emo when he found out what happened to you, which bled into Atem, and you can guess what happened from there."
Selena hugged the other woman. I just wish I hadn't had to do that to Edo, She thought as her mind wandered back to their duel... "Are you going to make your move, Mister Pheonix?" Selena asked, her hand on her hip. She had her Frost Monarch on the field, and Dark-Imprisoning Mirror active, which prevented any of his Destiny Heroes from using their effects. Still doesn't mean he won't find a way around my trap though, she thought. ((I've started out the flashback.)) |

Edo looked at his hand. He already drawed and there was nothing in his hand to play or to set. He has about 4 monsters face down.
"I end my turn" he said sadly. He knew that he has to loose for Sakura's sake but he's not going to do the chicken way and surrendered. |
Selena drew. "I play Spellbreaker of the Ice Barrier in Attack Mode, and I activate the Field Spell Umiruka." She said. "Umiruka gives all my Water attribute monsters a 500 point boost to their attack power, at a cost of 400 of their defense points." She discarded a card from her hand. "And I activate my Spellbreaker's effect. By sending one Ice Barrier monster in my hand to the grave, neither of us can activate Spell cards as long as she's face-up on the field, until the end phase of my next turn. And since you have no Monsters on your side of the field, I'll attack you directly! Mobius, attack him!" The armor-clad ice knight attacked, inflicting 3200 points of Direct Damage. "Your turn, Spellbreaker! Finish this!" The Spellcaster lunged at Edo, ready to strik the finishing blow.
'You do realize that I would consider it an insult if you went easy on me, right?' Selena asked. |
"I don't have any more fight in me" Edo replied, feeling that he was lacking in strength.
I have no idea how long I can last he thought as his lifepoints plummered down to 1999. He knew that it was all over and he can't use his quck play spell card as well. |
Selena closed her eyes, her Spellbreaker ending the Duel. Edo's Life Points plummeted to zero "I'm dissapointed, Edo Pheonix." She said. And she truely was; his skills were supposed to rival those of the Five Legends. "I was hoping for a challenge. To see whether or not you truly had power to rival a Legend." She stepped up to him as he fell to his knees. "You know what happens now, Edo Pheonix."

Edo wished that it wasn't one of those days that he dueled like crap but sadly, it was.
"I know what happends next. I wish you luck on the raid Sakura. It's high time for those creaps payed for what they did to our girl" he said and screamed with pain, then silence. Edo was lying on the ground 'dead'. Saly, unlike Yana, his breathing was coursed, meaning that if he doesn't properly recover, he will die for real. "Are you ok?" Ashleigh asked Selena. |
Selena released her Demon Eye, but when she had, she knew immedeatly she'd used too much power. She'd overloaded Edo's system! Kneeling, she checked his pulse. Stopped, but from the sound of his strained breathing...
I've got to let them know what happened. I used too much power! She thought, keeping the growing amount of alarm off her face. His sky blue eyes were wide open and vacant, and coupled with his condition, it was disturbing. She stood up, pushing some hair out of her face as an excuse to press a button on an alert device stuck to the back of her neck. It would let them know that something went wrong with the result of the duel, and Edo needed help, fast. "He's dead. Our work is done here." She said coldly. How easy it was to put on that mask of ice even now... Selena was snapped out of her reverie by Ashleigh's question. "I-I'm fine," She said. "I was just remembering the result of my duel with Edo." |
"I guess that it didn't go well?" Ashleigh asked as she and Selena entered into the parallel universe.

"I won," Selena said. "But when I 'killed' Edo, I used too much power. When I released my Demon Eye, I gave his system too much of a shock. He's still on life-support right now, from what I hear. And his conditino isn't getting any better either."

"That's sucks. I hope he can recovers soon. Who else is in that kind of condition?" Ashleigh asked.

"Ryu Marufuji." Selena replied. "His heart gave out again, and he's presently in worse condition than Edo. Daichi's 'death' didn't have any complications, and neither did Yana's, thankfully. She's up and about now."
