"I mean, I know I'm special but not that special" Saharia said, taking a sip. Lucky she didn't taste the rum but with it mixed, the chocolate was strong.
"You never know about those kinds of things." Selena replied. "I'm not exactly normal myself."
"You're not? But you're one of the best fighters I heard of" Saharia exclamed, taking another sip of the Hot Chocolate.
Selena smiled a little. "Would you like me to show you why?" she asked.
Saharia nodded. All she knew so far is to travel place to place but not proper time travel as of yet. She took another sip.
Selena pulled her bleached-white hair away from her face and activated her power. Her right eye changed; the coal-black iris turned blood red, the pupil took the shape of a snake's, and the cornea deepened to pitch black. "Say hello to my psychic power, the Demon Eye." She said.
Saharia blinked.
"The legendary Demon Eye" she said, "I heard of that but I heard that when the holder dies, he or she will become lord or lady of the demons. But I'm not sure if that is true." |
Selena shrugged and let her eye go back to normal. She let her hair cover the right side of her face again. "I've lived longer than most holders of the Demon Eye." She said. "It's born to only one person in a generation and grants them extremely powerful psychic abilities. But the downside is that whoever gets it dies an early and violent death. I'm determined to break that 'death curse' as it's often called. I've also got another advantage the previous holders had."
"Ok" Saharia said, taking another sip of the drink. This time however...well you know the fluff on the nose when you drink any kind of cafe stye hot drink like a cuppachino sometimes? Well, not only a milky mouthstash was on the girl's face but a bit of the drink's fluff appeared on her nose.
Selena laughed. "Should I get you a napkin? You've got a hot chocolate mustache and nose." She said. "As for that advantage, it's another side-effect of the Demon Eye--normal people can sense it, and it tends to...well, I'm not sure. It drives them away, I guess. Normally, the Demon Eye holders are forced to be alone their entire lives, because not only are then shunned by society, but some people get so violent, they try to kill them. Unlike those past holders, I've got friends who I can count on, and can count on me." She smiled softly. "And on more than one occasion, I've used this power to save their lives. To save all our lives."
Maybe that's the key to breaking the curse? She thought. |
"Sounds like that is true after all. I heard, the more friends the holder has, the bigger chance that the curse will break" she said, taking the napkin and erasing the mouthstash and the nose fluff, "If you have a certain amount of friends, the curse will break."
Selena let a humorless chuckle escape her lips. "Sure. But what happens when the curse breaks? If that's the case, then why hasn't the curse been broken yet?" She asked. "That may not be all of it. Like I said before; not much is known about the Demon Eye and the power it grants whoever is born with it, because nobody ever lives long enough to learn its secrets. I don't even know where or whent the damn thing originated."
"You're lucky I'm researching it. My goal is to go back in time to when it first made and cast a spell on it. All I know that the Demon eye is way older than Atem himself, but is the same age as Atlantis" Saharia said, "What I found out though, a small group of friends might be powerful against the curse, but a strong group of friends will be able to break it. You said that you lived longer than other holders right?"
Selena nodded. "Most of the holders haven't gotten past their teens. And here I am, just past my twenty-seventh birthday, last Halloween!" She laughed. "But, I have found out one little fun fact about this power. Once I completely master it--not fully breaking it, mind you--I'll have all the time in the world to break the death curse."
Saharia giggled.
"It's already begun...the spell breaking that is" she said mysteriously. |
Selena raised an eyebrow. "So I assume you've got an idea of what happens after I master the power, before breaking the curse." She said.
"I haven't gotten that far yet. It was suppose to start to break around this time. Fortunaly, the breaking process takes about 5 years to break, depending how many people who had it before. The bad news is that you got that amount of time to master it's power. You're lucky that the spell started to break today or else you would've had 3 years to master the Eye's power" Saharia said.
Selena peered at Saharia. "And how'd you know it would start to break today?" She asked. This girl knew more than she let on, that was for sure.
Does she have any idea what happens when I master the power? She thought. She looked at her watch. "Shit," She muttered. "I need to get back down tot he briefing room. Me and the other five on the raid party need to be there to meet, now." She drained the rest of her hot chocolate, picked up her Glock and stowed in her holster. She picked up her jacket and pulled it on over the holster, then clipped some extra magazines onto her belt. "With any luck, I'll be around to see you later." With that, she got up and started towards the door. |
That is because I'm the fairy of the Sands of Time and I foresaw it and who you really are Selena Kudo. But I'm the type to keep secrets and never spill them she thought.
"Good luck. Call me if you guys need my help Sakura!" Saharia called. |
"I will." Selena replied. Though I doubt we'll need it. She added in a thought.
Ten minutes later, she was as the conference room, where everyone was getting ready for the riot. "So, I take we're all ready for the party?" She asked. "You're way too happy about all of this," Kaiba muttered. "Shut up. You're the bastard who always called me 'the Queen of Morbid'." Selena replied. "Do you two ever get along?" Aoi asked. "No." Kaiba and Selena answered in unison. |
Hikair shook her head.
I have no idea why they're in the same room together she thought. |
"Enough you two." Max said, shutting the two up. "It was either Sakura or Melhana on this raid, and to be honest I really didn't want Melhana trying to fry Kaiba's ass again."
"Like it's my fault that woman has the temper of a volcano?" Kaiba muttered. "I heard that, and you weren't exactly helping the situation back then either, Kaiba." Max said. "I've already had to sort out a fight between Judai and Jun. Don't make me shut you two up." "I was only stating a truth." Selena said mildly. "Anyway, I've downloaded a schematic of the enemy's HQ compound into your headsets, thanks to the scans that Sakura managed to get during her tenure as a spy there." Max continued. "Unfortuately, I don't have much data on the decks of the enemy soldiers." "No one in there is very trustworthy, even of their own people." Selena explained. "In other words, we're going in there next to blind. I just have one requirement of all of you." She said. "Get the data and get out alive. Now go!" |
"Good luck you two! I meet you on the battle field I hope" Hikari called after them.
They need all the luck they can get she thought and looked at the mirror, and she screamed. That image was back again. |
"Hikari?" Aoi asked when she heard the shriek. "What's--SHIT!" Her hand went instinctively to her sword as she saw the image. It looked like Hikari, only...demonic. This version had a black aura, eyes with magenta irises and black corneas, the blue hair was wilder, and a cold, sneering smile was plastered on the woman's face. What the fuck is this?! She thought.
"Find Ashleigh and bring her to us. She belongs to us now and nothing can change that" she said.
"S--s--she's not here. S-s-she's on another mission away from here. Way, way from here" Hikari yelled back. |
