Galician language - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Thaaaaar

Linnea 12-26-2009 05:08 AM

@lostin: yea once i got used to the language i was cruising right along... it just took some patience

Cicadetta 12-26-2009 05:09 AM

Merry Christmas, Barftastic!

Ahh, okay, Xurxo. :) Thanks. Wasn't there some Celtic influence on Galicia, though?

Lost in Austen 12-26-2009 05:09 AM

"Bo Nadal" (Merry Christmas in Galician! I looked it up!)

Xurxo 12-26-2009 05:10 AM

Yes it did have some.

But it is near Portugal and is more associated with that instead :3

JessehBoo 12-26-2009 05:11 AM

The Nanny's on <33
xmas is good<3

zeapear 12-26-2009 05:11 AM

Merry Christmas, that's merry Christmas in English, I looked it up

Jeannesha 12-26-2009 05:12 AM

That was really interesting, Xur.
I had been thinking that it was Chinese-related...just because I knew a Xui, that was pronounced Shoe.

Cicadetta 12-26-2009 05:12 AM

Okay, cool, Xurxo. Sorry about that. (Ahh, linguistics, so confusing...)

Jeannesha 12-26-2009 05:14 AM

I love to learn new things....and now I can say that I learned something new today!

Lost in Austen 12-26-2009 05:14 AM

I love the Gaelic (Irish/Scottish) languages...

Cicadetta 12-26-2009 05:16 AM

I'd love to learn Irish one day, but I really don't have the discipline for languages. The ear, yes, but the memorization is awful.

Xurxo 12-26-2009 05:17 AM

I love languages. :333 I only looked about Galician because of the character's name :33

:33 I like Slavic Languages. And also want to learn Turkish. I want to relearn French and Spanish xDD;; I tried Japanese?

С Рождеством Христовым <--Merry Christmas

Lost in Austen 12-26-2009 05:17 AM

me too! and plus, courses in gaelic are extremely difficult to find in most countries. there are online courses, sure, but i need a teacher when it comes to languages.

zeapear 12-26-2009 05:18 AM

I was learning German from year four to six, I was quite terrible but, well I tried.

Xurxo 12-26-2009 05:19 AM

I want to learn German, too. And Italian.

I HEAR Italian lots. And heard it lots. And some German. As I'm half German. xD But my family pays more attention to the Italian side.

Cicadetta 12-26-2009 05:20 AM

The other thing about Gaelic languages is the spelling. It's really not intuitive. With French (which I've studies), Spanish, and I suppose German, the systems make sense, but with Irish, the spelling is a serious obstacle.

Jeannesha 12-26-2009 05:21 AM

I don't do well with languages at all.
I tried german in college, but it didn't stick.

I would like to learn Spanish.

zeapear 12-26-2009 05:21 AM

I just remembered the time my German teacher swore at fly in German while we were decorating gingerbread cookies and my friend stuffed up and and shouted "darn it!" and my teacher said "no nasty swearing!" XD

Lost in Austen 12-26-2009 05:21 AM

@cica: yeah, its pretty insane. all those extra G's and H's thrown in everywhere. lol

Cicadetta 12-26-2009 05:22 AM

@Lostin: Yep! It's scary. In some ways, more scary than the idea of learning a whole new alphabet in order to learn Russian. (But not scarier than the Japanese writing system. I'm leaving that one alone.) There are so many languages I want to learn that I never will. XD

Jeannesha 12-26-2009 05:23 AM

German is so gutteral.

Spanish seems more lyrical.

Lost in Austen 12-26-2009 05:24 AM

*sigh* then there are those people who make ya sooo jealous cuz they speak like 8 languages.... and with ease.... meh. Tolkien people.... hahaha

Cicadetta 12-26-2009 05:26 AM

Yikes. I should go take my shower. I'll be back! (Want to see the EI!)

zeapear 12-26-2009 05:26 AM

See you soon Ciccy! (there, ya gots a nick name.)
