Shadowdragon;
I want to learn spanish eventually, too @[email protected] I think I need to start learning on my free time;;
And thank you~
XP Level one was too easy, just learning hiragana and katakana and simple kanji like the days of the week and numbers..

I don't think I'm a bad person, I love my family and friends, I care away to much, I don't kill murder or steal, and I try not to lie, I go to college, I get good grades, I don't party, drink, smoke or do drugs. I go way out of my way to help others. SO I don't think I'm bad, but maybe I am, and that's why they all seem to hate me.

Hi Sailor! Good luck getting ingredients =)

Stroke order is important if you plan on writing 'correctly' - but my son was never taught to write his ABC's 'correctly'. He starts from the bottom and goes up and left. Not left handed backwards, but seriously in the totally opposite way normal people write. I've tried correcting him countless times... but once you learn something a certain way it's nearly impossible to remember to do it right.

So if you don't care what people think of 'how' you write, like if you never plan on going to Japan or don't mind if any potential Japanese friend straight out laughs at how you write... then don't worry about stroke order so much and focus on memorizing meanings.

But if you want to learn it properly and not be writing your letters like a child with Aspergers, then learn the stroke order.

I find it's easier to learn a kanji if you pick a memorable sentence that you can understand which USES that kanji -- and then make a flash card or something for that whole sentence.

Chalkboard 12-31-2009 06:10 PM

@Jezriel: I wouldn't know about stroke order, thanks for the info =) I'm just learning the language casually, though maybe in the future I might get more serious.

Hi TaiyoTsuki!

ShadowDragonn 12-31-2009 06:11 PM

Hello again Janus!

Chalkboard 12-31-2009 06:11 PM

Aww that stinks Chalkboard!

Latin in my high school was such a joke. People just took it for an easy grade. They didn't learn anything. They got to put all the verb conjugations on shirts for the midterms and basically none of them had to take the final because they got As every marking period plus the midterm. This was in honors too. I was so angry because I was in honors Japanese which is a lot more difficult than latin because it doesn't have the same characters as English and doesn't even sound like English and it was SO hard. Yet those people got to essentially cheat and get easy As.

Hi Shadow. I got more gingers to get.

Chalkboard 12-31-2009 06:14 PM

I know right, Shadow Dragonn! I'm baking it again now, though.
@Love Shiine: that's a real shame. It's a beautiful language and it's being killed byt the people who should be learning it. 'Grats for sticking with Japanese though.

Jezriel 12-31-2009 06:15 PM

Man, I wish my school had given me decent language choices. I turned down a potential scholarship because I didn't want to take French with the school's Superintendent. Just... no.

fairywaif 12-31-2009 06:15 PM

I wonder if baking goods have a higher chance of burning the more ingredients they take? Or if it's just random...

It's true, it is pretty easy, especially if you have a large vocabulary. A lot of the grammar is really different though. did they skim over that too? And it has male and female. Still, it shouldn't be THAT easy. That would make me pretty incensed too.

ShadowDragonn 12-31-2009 06:15 PM

Yeah me too Janus >.< But I have seventeen out of the twenty bowls I need!
Love Shiine, that really stinks, I hate it when people do things like that and don't really learn it just get an 'A' for the class. Though I don't have too much room to talk because I think I did that once with a history class back in middle school : /

love shiine* 12-31-2009 06:16 PM

Yeah that class just made me so angry because they were doing nothing for the good grades and I was killing myself over Japanese. The students would be like "Oh well we have to learn all these conjugations and they're hard to memorize... blahblah" Okay, well I had to learn 2 new alphabets plus kanji characters and verb conjugations etc and I don't get a t-shirt to cheat with. >____<

Nessie 12-31-2009 06:16 PM

really?? that sucks, the latin course my ex got was pretty thorough. he really seemed to know a lot about it and everything.

Rei Ann 12-31-2009 06:17 PM

I never failed with baking during the event, so I think it's random.

GrannyJ 12-31-2009 06:17 PM

I'm sorry. I had to re-start my browser.
I hope I haven't missed much.
