Kay saw Kiryn rushing towards the demon out of the corner of her eye. She saw where he was headed and used the oppertunity to move in for her own attack as well. The Scorpion had shifted its attention to Kiryn and was trying to get him with her tail, fragments of splintered wood still stuck on its tip.
"You better fly fast little Kiryn, I have searched for you for a long time, ever since your wonderful, queen had my race hunted into near extinction" The demon's voice dripped with sarcasm as she spoke of the Queen Kiryn served so loyally. "And YOU were the one that led that hunt... YOU are the reason we lost so many. Well now it is your turn. Of that whole group of warriors you led, you are the last one. I hope it will give your queen great joy when I finally return you to her.... in pieces." The scorpion lunged again for him with her tail, only just missing, her momentum carried her towards the house though, and her body destoyed the front porch, and her tail made another large gash in the roof. While the demon had been talking Kay had moved underneath the demon, but she could not figure out if the heart would be in the scorpions chest/ underbelly or in the womans torso. A bad thought occurred to Kay... What if both parts have a heart? As soon as she thought it, the voice of the Blade in her mind confirmed it. Kay began to search for the first heart in the scorpion body with her magic. She found it just as the scorpion had lunged..... now it was on the porch, and Kay had missed her chance. She cursed her hesitation... |
The demon's words caused him to hesitate..That entire group of warriors slain...and he only just now found out about it..and from the foul lips of a demon. That shiver had also run down his spine when it had spoken his name. How dare it. For a moment his body had trembled and then that tail came at him and he moved a bit to the side, even though it seemed the demon's aim was a bit off anyway. "How dare you! You will die!" That sword was plunged deep into the humanoid torso as the scorpion had come forward from the momentum, causing his sword to go that much deeper into it. Nearly buried to the hilt and he still held to the hilt. "I will serve your head to my Queen on a silver platter." His wings flapped pulling him back a bit, as he jerked and wrenched at the sword in the demon. Trying to pull it free from the demon's flesh. Rage ran through his veins and fire flared in his purple eyes.

From here, Willow could do nothing but watch as a helpless bystander. There was another girl in view now she had a sword in hand. Things seemed to be getting better, although it still looked pretty grim. Another person came into view and this one had....wings? Could it be true? Willow inched closer, half hidden behind another large tree. This was a close as she dared to go, afraid that the scorpion woman might catch her scent and pull her apart into little rippy bits. The thought seemed illogical, as occupied as the woman-thing seemed to be, but she couldn't chance being wrong. Part of her still urged her to run and take off into the woods but even that still seemed like a bad idea. If there were things like this out in the open, who knew what lurked in the shadows.

(( Hey Cinder, just to let you know, Kay also has wings ^_^))
Kay saw Kiryn still trying to get his blade out of the Scorpion. She hoped it would distract it long enough. She pushed off the ground with her wings, hovering only a few inches from the ground. She was not very used to flying yet though, and could only fly for a few feet. She dropped back to the ground and ran... She got under the scorpion torso and was locating the heart again when she saw Kiryn get his blade free and drop to the ground in front of the creature. Kay found the heart and stabbed upwards..... Her blade was not long enough, but the scorpion did scream in rage. Kay knew Kiryn would be making another attack at it... but then, everything went wrong. The scorpion lady, seeing Kiryn on the ground in front of her, slashed down with its barbed tail. Kay Screamed a warning, but it was too late. The tail had pierced Kiryn's wings straight into the ground, Kay thought he was trapped. Energy and anger coursed through her body. She thought of the small fire she had made earlier and let loose all her rage into her dagger. Flames spouted up her dagger and into the scorpion body's heart. It did not kill the scorpion, but significantly weakened it. She pulled her blade loose, and ran out from under its massive form. The scorpion loosed Kiryn's wings and, before Kay could finish killing it, ran back into the forest, promising revenge. Kay watched it go, waiting to make sure it would not come back. Only after a few moments of calm did she turn to look at kiryn, his wings were damaged horribly, probably ruined. She sank onto the ground next to him, to weak to move. Despite having fended off the demon, she felt like a complete failure. Lyre's house was quite damaged, two of her friends were very injured, and the demon had gotten away. |
He tugged and wriggled and wrenched and pulled and finally, a bit unexpectedly that sword came free. He had dropped to the ground, carried by the momentum from his tugging and wriggling to get the sword out, which also made him a bit unbalanced and for a moment he was tumbling..until he hit the ground. He had rolled onto his side, sword still in hand and was going to push himself up, to get up and launch another attack.
He heard the warning, he looked up. Those eyes widened as that tail came down at him. There was no time, no time to move out of the way. Not completely. He moved as best he could and it was not good enough. The pain..the pain was so horrible, so nerve wracking that when his lips parted to scream, no sound came out at all. His entire body trembled from the pain. It felt like an eternity had passed before that tail moved...Kay had injured the beast..His wings twitched of their own accord and his mouth was still parted in that silent scream, even as the beast departed. Finally he let out a half strangled gasp, a whimper..a groan, a cough and he closed his eyes. Slipping into darkness..away from the horrible pain..pain so horrible that no sound or words could ever express it properly. Those beautiful purple and red gossamer wings, were tattered. Useless. Kiryn would probably never fly again. |
((Wow, you made that so much more dramatic than I ever could have... You so should have just destroyed his wings yourself Kry, your post is so much more emotional that mine ^_^))
Kay could here Kiryn next to her groaning, and then he was silent. That worried her more that anything What if the scorpion hadnt just pierced his wings... she slowly pushed herself up, her head spinning from all the energy and magic she had used. She crawled over to him and was glad to see that he was only slipping in and out of consciousness, not dying. But still, she knew that his wounds needed care, and she did not know anything about healing wings, if they could be healed. And Kay also did not have the strength to get him into the house. "Ceri !!! Lyre !!! Help !!!" It was about all she could manage.... she leaned over and looked at him. his hair was all tangled in his torn wings, and until someone else came to help her, she busied herself with trying to separate hair from wing, at least that way things wouldnt be as messy... |
][...I have a flair for the dramatic..-shrug- ][
His fingers twitched. His sword clutched loosely in that hand, as he drifted here and there, drifting between the waking world and the darkness. He heard the word help and then he heard himself groan again. That pain though..gods would it ever stop? Such terrible pain. It could only mean that the nerves had suffered severe damage, though Kiryn was incapable of coherent thought. Incapable of opening his eyes, of moving, except for the twitches and shudders than ran through his body every so often. Those lips were still parted, he coughed. Droplets of blood dripped from the corner of his mouth. |
Kay heard him groan again and gently stroked his forehead. "Just stay still Kiryn, Im sure Ceri or Lyre will be here in a minute..." She really did not know what was taking them so long, unless they were in the house, also injured, because of the damage the house had sustained. She seriously hoped not...
Kay saw the blood flecks on his mouth and started to worry. She looked at the front of his torso, trying to see if he had any worse injuries. She gently pushed him to the side a bit, and saw that, other than his wings, he looked uninjured. She hoped so... Fixing wings would be bad enough, she did not want to deal with any inturnal injury as well... Since no more blood was coming from his mouth though, she assured herself it was nothing. She just kept stoking his hair, trying to reassure him that help was coming, and trying to keep herself from panicing. |
Kiryn barely felt Kay's hand as she stroked his hair, his hair. Fiery red locks that had reached to the heel's of his feet, now was scraggly and considerably shorter..perhaps the scraggly fiery locks on reached past his shoulders, almost to his mid back but not completely. Cut when the wings had been cut and tattered, it had fallen from it's braid. At least the part still attached to his head..The tail of his braid lay there on the ground, still braided mostly, the ends closest to where the hair had been cut had come unraveled but then again..that didn't really matter did it? He could hear her, her voice, speaking to him, though it sounded as if it were from somewhere faraway..so very faraway. He grunted softly as his body twitched and shuddered in another spasm.

Missy snuck inches and inches closer, fluttering her clear as glass wings the excitement in her heart turned them bright shades of orange, and red, but only momentarily - she had no idea if these people, or creatures would eat her. she was after all not the biggest of faeries, but hey who cared? Things that wanted to eat her, thats what. From a pack, Missy pulls an apple, and runs her hand over it, ripening it to perfection before creeping closer to the seemingly injured man. "Here, eat this. im sure he cant." she smiled, sort of, and handed the apple over to Kay. With delicate fingers, Missy traced the tears in his wings.
"These can be fixed; it wont be a painless thing but im sure that you realize that already." her face drooped at the grim prospects, and her clear as glass wings turned a gloomy blue color. |
Kay watched the little fairy come over to her and Kiryn. She used the last bit of energy she had to make sure it was not a demon, Kay never wanted to be caught off guard again. The little fairy was saying something, and Kay was only half hearing her. An apple was being held out to her, but she just stared at it dumbly... The fairies wings.... they just changed color, over and over again. Kay just blinked at her, and finally managed to say "Hi." She then took the apple because she had been told too, and too a bite of it, she set it on the ground and started talking to Kiryn again.
Basically Kay was in shock over the entire situation. |
He had drifted there, somewhere between consciousness. The pain was still there, still horrible and only bareable in a state of half consciousness it would seem. Kiryn wasn't aware of anything that was happening. Not really. He knew that Kay was near or at least near enough to speak to him though it sounded so far away..and then another voice a voice he didn't know..and then..Pain. Those lips parted and Kiryn screamed when that faery ran delicate fingers over his tattered wings. His body had spasmed, jerking from the new pain that coursed through him, that scream cut off suddenly as Kiryn was no longer floating between consciousness but unconscious.
|
"He'll be somethings dinner if he's not moved inside somewhere safe soon; or somewhere where he's not sitting in the middle of the open air." Missy's nose wriggled at the injured faeries blood, and she moved her hand away from his wings. "I do appologize, new friend, for hurting you further. Im sure that scream woke even the stone golems." Her wings fluttered from the gloomy blue to a bright viberant, alert orange. "Finish that apple. it does'nt come from the normal apple tree, it'll help you heal faster." her warm smile, and fluttery crystal-like red wings glowed twards kay, and her eyes sparkled with a little bit of hope, despite the situation. She hoovered now, just the littlest bit, and tilted her head in a curious, questioning manner; throwing her short shaggy white hair to the side of her face. "Can you walk, new friend?"
|
Kisha watched, her ever-changing eyes in shock at what was happening. And she knew she could do nothing. Though, as soon at Myra was tossed aside, she leapt from her perch atop the tree, landing near the fallen girl. While the demon fought two winged people, she chanted silently to herself, her hands glowing a soft teal as she moved them over the broken girls body. Slowly, the shallower wounds healed themselves and the more extensive wounds began to heal. She could do nothing more but hope that this gave her a fighting chance.
When the demon ran off, she had a few tears in her eyes from the destruction of such beautiful wings, things she sometimes wished she had. She heard the girl, Kay, call for help but no answer was immediate. She looked down at her charge and grimaced. She picked Myra up, her arm muscles bulging slightly, and Kisha walked to the fallen warrior and the girl as the fairy finished speaking. She managed to get on the ground near the trio, resting Myra on her lap. She smiles weakly. "I can be of further assistantance, if he needs it." She looks Kay in the eyes, hers resting on a deep sea blue for a moment. "You both are good warriors and have heart. I want to be of help in anyway that I can." She looked up at the house. "To all of you." |
Missy fluttered her wings as the shifted from color to color before she finaly decided apon a soft wind-like blue, sending the sent of the injured faeries off to someplace where it would'nt be smelled by something hungry. "Hi there, new friend!" her warm smile temporarily turned her ever fluttering wings a warmer shade of blue, and then back to the soft sky blue they resumed. "It'd help if you'd just tell me where to bring him. seems you have your hands full as it is." with a teensy, airy touch, she lifted Kiryn's limp, unconcious body in her hands, and shifted softly so that she could pick up his braid, as it seemed an important part of todays happening. Her wings fluttered with a prismatic glow, shining every which color in every which way the wind blew. "Something QUITE big went on here, din't it!?" her body flenched, and she grimmaced at the stench that lingered on the hurt fairy. "Ack!" she hovered still, waiting for further direction.
|
Kay was very nervous about someone she did not yet know moving Kiryn... She was also worried about her friends... "I think he is fine resting here for now, I dont know how stable the house is, and I still have 2 friends inside. Im worried they may be hurt." Kay was holding the little fairy's arm in urnest, hoping she would set Kiryn back down, and go check on the other 2 inside. Kiryn had screamed so loud the last time she had touched him, Kay didnt want to hear that again.
((Off to work, see all of you later :D)) |
((and.....I'm lost XD))
|
Kisha smiled slightly, then it went away. "I'll watch him if you want to check on the other two. I believe they are fine, though the house seems beyond repair. I know we just met but trust me, I mean you no harm. And especially not your friend here. And I can hold my own in a fight if it comes to that again. My name is Kisha by the way, Kisha Arina Veldor. However, if you'd rather stay here, I can check on your friends. Im surprising quick in this place, so if the house starts to fall, I can get them out."
|
"I understand your unrest. i apologize for my suddenness - he's getting rest now, though. i just dont want an unfriendly forest go-er to eat him. as for his hair, it cant be mended but maybe i can craft him something to use from it." her smile fluttered as she set the tattered faeries body back where she had found him. With a shimmering flutter of gold, her wings set her hover a little higher, and smiled down at Kisha. "I think we'd both better go help the two in the house. these two will be fine, and if anything comes, i'll know from the wind before its one hundred feet away." She wriggled her nose in a cocky manner, then continued to smile down at kisha. "Coming?" she offered, fluttering her wings so fast that the golden color just seemed to be a mist, so fast that even a hundred humming birds would not be able to keep up with.

Some time in the chaos, Willow had blacked out. Partly from exhaustion, and mostly from fear. When she came to, everyone was piling together into the house and the scorpion lady was gone. Should I try to say something? She hesitated for a moment, and then pulled herself to her feet. For a second, she couldn't tell if she was standing or not. Her vision went blurry and she held onto the tree for support. What would they say when they found out she had sat there and done nothing? Would they be angry? She decided the best thing was to push ahead. There was no sense in turning back now, and maybe she could do something to help. She struggled through the under brush into the light by the house. She could see now that the damage was severe. Most of them had already gone inside, but she called out anyway.
"Wait! Please wait! I saw everything! Well, I blacked out, but I saw almost everything!" She got closer to the house, wondering if it was the best idea to just run at them after everything that had happened. "I want to help! Please, my name is Willow. I can't do anything to harm any of you, I just want to help...." She started to black out again, everything going gray. She stumbled, as her vision came back momentarily....the ground was approaching awfully fast, she thought and then WHAM, nothing. |
Kay had seen the figure emerging from the tree line and had tried to struggle to her feet. She had not rested enough yet. All she had manmaged to do was lift her dagger out in a way she hoped looked threatening. But then, the figure collapsed onto the grass... Kay thought she had heard the girl rambling on about being a willow, and not causing harm... Well its obvious she cant hurt us, she cant even walk. The Girl had landed a few yards from where Kay sat next to kiryn, and Kay decided it would be best to make sure the new comer was unarmed. She moved very slowly over to the girl, I should have rested more earlier today when I had the chance.... Kay drew closer to her and gave a gasp of shock... It was a human.
A real human here in Underhill, and Kay had assumed there were no others. She rolled the girl over onto her back to ensure that she was still breathing, and seeing that she was not dead, and was probably just unconscious, she moved back to Kiryn's side. The last thing Kay wanted was for him to wake up and try to move to quickly... She knew he was resting, but she still did not fully know how injured he truely was.... |
There was the possibility that Kiryn would not regain consciousness for a few hours..maybe even a day or so. The damage though was only to his wings..but so many nerves had been just severed. Pieces of those thin gossamer wings even floated off on a light breeze. Other pieces still lay behind him. Inches from the main part they had been severed from. Occasionally those tattered wings would twitch and his body still shuddered when they did that, even in a state of unconsciousness.
|
Kisha nodded. "And I'll smell it." She gently moved Myra from her lap to resting on the ground near Kiryn and Kay. She got up, pushing a loose strand of hair out of her face. With simple grace and haste, she went to the house and entered it, with the fairy. She sniffs, smelling the one she saw earlier stronger then any other. She started moving towards what was left of the living room. "Hello? HELLO?!!!! IS ANYBODY CONSCIOUS?!!!! I'M HERE TO HELP!!" She waits, her acute hearing listening for a reply or a sign of life.
|
Willow was still breathing, but it was exhausted, ragged breath. Maybe it was the trip to Underhill that had wracked her body so badly, and it wasn't until all of the shock wore off that it really got to her. As soon as the adrenaline wears off of a person, their body can go into complete shut down, almost like a defense mechanism. Her breathing slowed to a calmer rhythm, and she started to stir just the slightest bit. A groan escaped her lips, floated gently into space it was so light. The next thing she felt was cold grass on her cheek, softer than she ever remembered grass being.
"Mary?" She tried to roll onto her stomach again, still not quite aware of her surroundings, "Mary, did I fall asleep outside again? Can we go home now, or is mom still mad at us?" Her vision cleared again, and she could see Kay not far from her. She could almost touch her if she reached out. As her brain rolled into gear, she started her mental body check. Legs? Check. I still have legs, and I can feel them...I think... She managed to roll onto her side, and lifted a hand in front of her face. I can still move my hands, so I must have arms....and if I can see my arms then I guess everything else is okay. But Mary's not here....and where am I? Willow tried to push herself up and settled for resting on her elbows. At least until she could see clearly again. There was destruction everywhere and the more she looked around, the more she remembered. I must have passed out...and it feels like I fell... Her hair tie finally gave loose and her hair puddled on the ground, midnight black. She had quite a few aches and pains but for the most part she felt okay. Queasy, but okay. |
[[Ahhhhh....time for bed. I have to get up waaaay too early for work in the morning. What a clumsy entrance. *sigh*]]
