I agree Woody, I will probably have to write an outline (or outlines) when I do my thess and dissertation bt I seem to write better when I jus wing it. Especially if it's creative writing.
|
Maps are amazing, agreed. I hate when there isn't a map in a story I am reading.
I dunno, I keep it all stored in my noggin..... I guess that is a bad thing, cause eventually someone will bash my head in and all the fun creative things will be lost for good. haha, "wing" it |
I meant that figuratively, Woody, though actual visual maps are awesome, too. More like, outlines are mapping where the story is supposed to go, theoretically. But "the map is not the territory," after all. :) And I am happy to have an outline all written out in a precious notebook, especially since the writing is on hiatus...
Facade, that Mika poster is awesome... |
lol. I giggled a bit at that too Woody.
|
I wing everything, wings.
|
lol! I do too Kat, there's just been a few times where I've had to turn in an outline.
|
I'll write the outline after I start whatever I'm writing.
|
I didnt simply b/c I was too lazy to write the whole paper. Typically I'll bs the outline and then just write the paper not following the outline at all.
|
Oh Kat, it's been a while since I've seen your mule :D
Ah I see Cica, ha, I took that literally. I know what you mean though, I think it depends on what it is I am writing. If it is something pretty structured like, a history of Scottish geology in the 17th century, then I do map and plan. But, as far as creative writing, I was never good at getting out what was in my head until I actually got to write it out in the story, even if I know where it is going to go, you know? I have a few things I am trying to expand upon, one story in particular that I think I can turn from 30 pages to a couple hundred, but I need to create and entire world.... I haven't though on it enough to expand it yet, but I think I will soon, because I would like to get the shorter one published as a short story (in one of my fav magazines, or in a short literary mag) but also have the long story in case anyone is interested to know more.... Sorry I wrote so much XP |
Which Mika poster? "The Boy Who Knew Too Much" one?
I like the other one better, personally - the Mika Sounds one. ;) Not sure which one you're talking about, though! Blah. :gonk: |
do you like my mule woody?!
|
I do! I tried making myself a male satyr for a while yesterday and then I panicked and made myself girly again :P Eventually I will, cause I wanna cosplay as my hero Mister Tumnus <3
|
lol woody. my poor male mule here is rather upset that he's so girly.
|
Facade: Not the promo poster, the other one. :) They're both suitably colorful, though!
Woody: With mine (which, again, is mostly not written in actual story form), it helps that I had a character created for a role-play. Not a Mene one, but one with some comic book fan friends of mine. (It's my original character, and works independently.) In any case, it almost required making up a world, a race, a culture, etc... So I had a head start. :) Um, anyway, that would be so cool if you got published, Woody! |
well at least you don't have him dressed as Zev right now or he'd have murdered me.. (Btw I posted in that rp)
|
Right Cica? Fingers crossed. I hope my mum does first, she is a writer. Only, she can't write short stories to save her life... Hers are all 700/800 pages. I told her I would write one with her voice just so she could get her name out there :P I would not mind at all giving up the credit for her.
Wings, I didn't mention that I am loving you avi right now. Kat, not at all. Men can like bunnies too! |
I change my mule because I'm procrastinating on my paper.
|
Ooh, Cica! :o
Kate Nash has a new CD coming out called "My Best Friend is You" on April 20th! Just thought you should know, in case you didn't... I didn't know until I saw it on Amazon just now. D; |
Facade, the only song by her I know is the Wuthering Heights song...
|
Woody, that's sweet, but... Would it have repercussions later? I mean, if the public started demanding more, you know. :)
She is, Facade? Cool! Not that I have the first one, yet. Amy MacDonald has a new one out, too, but it's still an import right now. Or maybe we can get the MP3 version, I don't know... |
Thanks Woody!
|
@Cica: I don't own CDs. :gonk:
The last CD I bought was Cher's "Believe," and even then it was a Christmas present to me, and not something I personally bought. And that was when I was nine. Dx @Woody: Kate BUSH sings Wuthering Heights! Get yer Kates right, lady. :talk2hand: |
I dunno, I mean, I wouldn't think so... especially if it wasn't what made her writing famous. I mean, it is the same thing as being a ghost writer :P The only person who would have a beef with it would be me? And why would I? Her writing is great, she just needs her foot in the door.
Oh, hahaha, wow I definitely read Nash as Bush.... kinda close, eh? lol I don't think I know Nash at all then. |
Facade, I am old-fashioned. And I still have a weakness for liner notes. :) Not that it matters in this case, anyway. I'm not finding an MP3 version...
Woody: Heh, yeah, I guess. And it's not like the public clamors for short stories. Novels are where it's at! And memoirs. Can't forget those. |
lol, yes. The only thing they are used for now are just getting yourself published....If you only have short stories, and a publisher or agent is interested after seeing something you've done, you are going to be looked over. They don't want to wait for something you COULD write, they want something now.
