i am a bit cold :(
but why are you alright with an i guess? i hope you aren't sad! |
Ehh, just stressed out. Have to finalize my schedule for the semester (which starts next week), and at this point I'm mostly just taking classes for general interest to keep up my student status 'til I can transfer into an actual program. Me being me, I waited until the last minute to sign up for things and managed to forget my password, so... waiting on that. It'll be okay. Just need to learn to really plan.
On the upside, though, it looks like there are seats left in the database class I want, and I found a humanities course that looks interesting, so... :) |
oh i do not miss all that haha... always scrambling to get the classes i needed before the seats were taken... i miss college immensely, but i really don't miss that part at all... it was always like a mosh pit at the registrar lol
humanities was my minor :D... i was going to do a double major (english and communications) but i dropped the english and went for straight communications which is why i ended up with a humanities minor *breath* ... didn't mean to ramble, sorry lol i hope you succeed in learning better planning habits... i have a problem with procrastination myself  |
It'll work out. My whole life has been an exercise in putting stuff off though, honestly. It's kind of ridiculous. :)
I'm not a humanities student, really. I mean, I'm interested in it, but what I really want eventually is a zoology degree. But hard science isn't worth much without a... well, a humanist perspective, I guess you could say. |
Hi guys!
How's it going? |
wow, zoology? that's so neat!
hey jean! haven't spoke to you much lately, how's it going? all is good on my end, thanks for asking :) |
I couldn't agree more, Cica. :) Very noble of you to pursue such a major, too!
I'm more of a writer, personally. I hate science, I hate math... and I hate a LOT of classic literature, for that matter. Some of it's pretty great, but not when you have to analyze the barrel over there in the corner and how it represents the hooker down the street, or whatever else these nuts people come up with. Anyway, writing is my passion. And modern literature! I took this AP Composition class last year that I TOTALLY dominated. My teacher used practically every one of my papers as examples for the class... It got embarrassing at first, but you know what? I figure I deserved the recognition... We read such excellent literary works in that class, too. Not TOTALLY modern stuff, mind you, but all of it was written later than most literature... Our oldest book was This Boy's Life. The most amazing piece we read was Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, which was this charmingly AMAZING book about this nine-year-old kid whose father died in 9/11... His dad left behind a key, and the kid went around practically all of New York City looking for the lock it opened... It was so touching. :) Sorry, I kinda got sidetracked there... I ramble too much. :gonk: |

Yea, I haven't been around Mene much...I'm still nursing this cold/flu, and I stick to mindless activities.
Facade, in that story, did the kid ever find what the key unlocked? Oh, btw Facade...did you see my little note to you yesterday? |
Heya, Jeanne!
Well, it was going to be entomology, Linnea, but there's only one institution that offers that as a major. Zoology broadens my options. :) Not sure why it would be any more noble than writing, though, Facade. It's awesome that you have the discipline for it! |
cica: what do you want to do with your zoology degree once you get it?
|
A note? :o Nope, didn't see it, Jeanne! :(
I don't remember if he found the lock, to be honest... I want to say he did, but it's been almost two years since I read it. I'll look it up real quick, though! :'D Man... it was such a good book. Aww, Linnea! Thanks! lol P: In other news, I tried out for The Wizard of Oz today... I found out the Wizard himself is a non-singing role, and so is Uncle Henry, so... I'm trying out for those two parts. I'd be stoked if I got the Wizard. :'D That would pretty much make my life complete. |
wow! the wizard!!? that's so great!! i hope you get it!
oh and you are very welcome! :) |
Cica, zoology is right up your alley...you being a

*Sneaks Up Behind Facade and Tackles*
Muhahaha. |
Linnea: I'm not exactly sure. But it's my area of interest, and I plan to couple it with a certificate or minor in Geographic Information Systems. Because GIS is fun and a marketable job skill. And I'm good at it. :)
Jeanne: And I'm willing to argue with people about whether or not rabbits are rodents. (They're not.) Clock clocked Facade! Oh no! |
Well, shoot.
I can't find the post. What I said was that I left you an egg in your totem, and that Petunia was lonely. |
sheesh cica, you are just a renaissance woman aren't you? hehe ... it's really cool though... and i am kind of jealous that you are doing something you love and that you will do it after you graduate... i said i went to school for communications, but my job is most definitely not related lol
|
What is involved in a communications degree?
We're watching football a lot (hubby loves the bowl games), and it seems that all the athletes are majoring in communications. |
Linnea: I'm not doing it at the moment. But at least I have a vague plan, right? :) Who knows what I'll end up doing? That said, I do love the arts and humanities. I just don't have the talent to make a career out of that area of study.
|
haha that's really funny about the players, jean... but communications is all about communicating to others through radio, television, papers, etc. ... i went the radio and newspaper route myself... i really wanted to be a sports reporter... football is my favorite spectator sport and i thought it'd be perfect! but maine doesn't really have much going on when it comes to that kind of thing lol
cica: and it all starts with a plan... that's half the battle i think... but the neat thing about liking art/humanities and such is that it makes choosing your filler classes much easier |
My aunt keeps telling me to go for Communications. :|
I'm not sure if I want to, although it's DEFINITELY the most ambiguous degree... Meaning that, if I end up working in, say, an office, I could easily end up working at practically any other type of establishment instead. It's all about experience and having the most spiffy portfolio. ;o For instance, my aunt used to work for Suburban Cable, which is what Comcast Digital Cable used to be in the late '90s/early '00s. Now she works in the marketing department of a design firm. And between that time of working at Suburban Cable, she also worked for Apple Vacations, and uh... various other places that I forget. ._.; But I'm the kind of person that wants something more SPECIFIC... or so I think, personally. It's not that I don't want the freedom a Communications degree offers, it's just that I'd feel better if I had something less broad. I don't think my little head could handle all of the possibilities. |
Linnea: It starts with a plan, and then the battle against procrastination begins. :) Yeah, it's pretty easy to find cool-looking humes classes. The one I'm looking at now is a survey course about Native American history in the Great Lakes region.
|
Well, at least with the degree I got, there was no question about what I was going to do.
My degree was in Computer Science, so of course....I went to work for IBM! |
Ooh, and my aunt also used to work for this company called Big Brother Big Sister, which was pretty much a safespot for kids who didn't have siblings/needed someone to talk to that wasn't their family, etc. ... She hated the job, though. xD; I forget why.
Anyway, yeah. .-.; -gnaws on Jeanne's hair- Wow, Computer Science!? Go you!! That's a very intelligent degree to have, in my opinion. I honestly thought you weren't the computer type, though. I suppose you can't judge a book by its cane! Err, cover. Yeah, that. |
