Linnea 02-27-2010 04:20 AM

@jack: yay i like that you like it!!

@woody: i got a movie 'nicholas nickleby' and i was wondering if you had read it or seen it... i also just got a book called 'what the dickens' by gregory maguire... the guy that did 'wicked'

----------

@jack again... the double posts combine now automatically... i quadruple posted once and they just shift together... its' neato

MelanieSkye 02-27-2010 04:21 AM

woody: Yeah, it's not fun.

By the way, has anyone seen that percy jackson movie?

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:22 AM

i have not, but it looks fun

Woodlandnymph 02-27-2010 04:22 AM

I have read and seen Nicholas Nickleby.... two adaptations in fact, lol.
I haven't read What the Dickens, but I've read other works by Maguire WHO lives super close to Burlington, and who I missed meeting by like, 15 mins!!!

I haven't seen it, no Mel. It's a book too right? I might have to look into it.

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:23 AM

i got the one that has charlie hunnam in it... i love him... he was in 'green street hooligans' and the tv show (which i now LOVE) 'sons' of anarchy'

i've only read, 'wicked' and 'son of witch' by maquire... i'd like to read his 'confessions of an ugly step sister' though... it looks good

and the percy books are a series... 3 or 4 books...

MelanieSkye 02-27-2010 04:24 AM

Yeah, it is. One of my friends is letting me borrow the books after spring break. I don't want to see it until I read, I was just wondering if it was any good. It looks like it could be really good. That and I just adore mythology.

Woodlandnymph 02-27-2010 04:25 AM

Ah yes, I have seen that one. It was one of his first movies, no? ((His acting tells me so)) I really liked that version, Alan Cummings was super funny and random. And we finally got to see his highland fling at the end!!! lol.
You should watch Bleak House, that is a great new Dickens adaptation. Long, though.

I LOVE Ugly Stepsister!!

And Mel, I love mythology as well! I grew up clutching my sister's copy of Greek Mythology, and reread the stories dozens of times! I'm into Near Eastern Mythology and Norse Mythology too. Oh, and Celtic, of course!

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:27 AM

i've never heard of 'bleak house'...

this is charlie! *sigh* Charlie Hunnam - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Woodlandnymph 02-27-2010 04:28 AM

He was in Children of Men? huh... need to rewatch that.

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:28 AM

i got that movie because he was in it... he wasn't in it much, though... but he played the guy with the crazy dreads

edit: and by 'got' i mean on netflix... i actually didn't like it enough to buy it... but it was ok

----------

oh... and on the mythology note... i like native american mythology

Woodlandnymph 02-27-2010 04:31 AM

Oooh, that too. Which is why American Gods is interesting. Wait... that or Anansi Boys. Either way, the same character is in either book. Both by Neil Gaimon....

I should be cleaning right now, but I am not.... *sigh* and I am to tired to start cleaning I think. I feel so lazy right now.

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:34 AM

wait a sec... who are you talking about woody?

i'm confused...

----------

i'm in my undies!

Wings of Writing 02-27-2010 04:41 AM

oh Neil Gaiman!!! I read his book Neverwhere and one of his comics about the sandman. He is a very interesting author

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:42 AM

i've heard of those but never read them

Woodlandnymph 02-27-2010 04:43 AM

Wings: Neverwhere is great! And probably my favorite by him...
He should be on your list of things to eventually read Linn, which I know is growing by the minute!

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:44 AM

i know, gosh darnit... there is so little time and too many books!!

Wings of Writing 02-27-2010 04:45 AM

He really is good. I loved Neverwhere though I did admit it was rather predictable

Woodlandnymph 02-27-2010 04:47 AM

I think Anansi Boys surprised me most. Granted most books don't really surprise me. There are too many conventions in writing that are followed. I can still be entertained though...

There is a game I have been playing nonstop. I LOVE it.

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:47 AM

what game?

Woodlandnymph 02-27-2010 04:48 AM

The one I posted on my Fb, Robot Unicorn Attack - A Free Online Flash Game From Adult Swim

It is full of magical rainbow silliness.

Wings of Writing 02-27-2010 04:49 AM

Yeah most books don't surprise me so when a book does I'm generally shocked. One series I will admit that managed it is the Pendragon series by DJ Machale, I never knew what he was going to throw at us next

Linnea 02-27-2010 04:49 AM

oh i saw that on adultswim... i love the song they play on the commercial... i love adultswim!... i like saturday nights... they play anime!! :squee:

Woodlandnymph 02-27-2010 04:51 AM

Wings: I might have to check that out then. There are very few books that surprise me, but the same can be said about movies too, but the ones that do, really stick with me.

It is so amazing. I can't stop playing it. It cheered me up so much when I was in a bad mood the other day. I miss adult swim...

Wings of Writing 02-27-2010 04:53 AM

Movies I actually tend to get surprised more if only because I have a brain to pick up on written foreshadowing but with movies I tend to just let the story carry me. I love my ability to predict stuff in books though and sometimes it's so random

I have an example but it may be a spoiler for you depending on how into Harry Potter you are
