It's the only pop of color in the darkness....Kinda like the nocturnal myopia you get staring at a star/ stars in the sky at night, and everything around the one you're staring at gets darker.

Itten is a color theorist. he says we don't see colors by themselves, but in relation to each other. it's why optical illusions work. a light grey dot and a dark grey dot turn into black and white when places next to each other, but it does't work when they're large squares instead of dots.
