I have a ton of rocks.
I still like to collect minerals from different places. I have a dragon collection, and usually I don't add to it, but when we were in Fort Worth, we were walking through a craft place and hubby pointed out a dragon. It was carved in wood, and very bright colors. Done by the Ouachacee Indians. (I'm sure I spelled that wrong). It was so unusual that I just HAD to get it! |
I'm thinking of making some jewelry with them. rainbow colors!
I want to have more unique and rarer rocks. I only have some. and I want to know the names of all the things I own. |
Oh sounds awesome (to the dragons and the wrappers)!! I also collected faeries I guess, but I haven't bought any new ones in a long time.
I've been collecting rocks and minerals and such since I was little....and I go to this huge gem and mineral show every year. Rarest rock that I have? Hmmm. I have a few corundum (uncut)....brown diamond (uncut).... and then I have a whole bunch of cut citrines, garnets, peridot, watermelon tourmaline.... |
oh, I'm kinda starting a collection of those postcards with art on them. I have three with fairies and two with native american themes. one is a shaman summons a raincloud herd of racing horses!
one of my favorite rocks is a decent sized smokey quartz crystal. |
Oooh! I have postcards too! (I guess I forget about my stuff sometimes <.< ) But mine are from places I've visited. I need to make a book where I can put everything, cause I have a bag or two of ticket stubs, pamphlets, etc from places I go. I like the sound of the faery ones, of course!
Oh! I like smoky quartz! I have a huge rose quartz that my brother put on a walking stick for me. |
I prefer artsy postcards to the photos of tourist city ones. I collect ticket stubs and put them in a photo album with other things relating to me and my friends.
sounds like a snazzy walking stick! |
I like getting the tourist-y ones when I know I won't necessarily get a photo of something (inside a manor or castle)...so, like when I spent any time in a town when traveling, I always looked for a postcard of it. It's a nice memory :D
Oh, it is. It's been made to look like the huge crystal is growing out of the wood. And I wrapped thin ribbons around the stick, and wove them to look like it's a maypole. It's just top heavy, so I bring it to Ren Faires occasionally |
I don't care about memories! XD
ahhh, sounds so neat! |
Pft. Oh well. See, I'm uber nostalgic. I'll see something that triggers a memory for me.
I even keep stuff from exs cause.... I'm silly like that. If I'm given something, it's important since there are good memories attached. Yes! I was looking for a picture of it...but I couldn't find one |
I either remember or i don't. a picture won't trigger the memory for me.
hm.... aw, too bad. you should take one sometime. |
Oh...even like, a type of fabric or a smell will trigger a memory for me. Songs.....poems, books. Everything. It's kinda sad.
I agree! I had pictures of it, maybe on my old computer... |
that's supposed to be normal, but it doesn't work well for me. sometimes I think things are familiar, but I don't actually remember them.
aw, then you lost the pictures? I hate when that happened. |
So, does that mean you're bad with directions and recalling where places are?
Yah, my computer completely crashed on me. I had a few things I was able to save, but not much |
I don't even know the layout of the area I grew up in. a major reason I hate driving. me and directions are a no go.
that really sucks. I remember when my computer crashed. I lost a lot of photos I'd taken on vacations. |
:3 Sounds like my mom. She used to ask me constantly which street to turn on when we visited my grandparents....They lived in the same house since before I was born >.<
I'm pretty good with directions. I recall visual cues, landmarks, etc.... Generally if I go to a place a few times, I'll recall how to get there. Yah, it's the worst. I should get an external hard drive... I'd sa it could be my xmas present to myself...but I already think I have something in mind for that. Alright! I think I'm gonna head to bed early-ish . Night Kat! |
only my muscle memory works right. I can memorize motions after only doing them a few times.
night woody. |
That is why Kat must DANCE!
That's actually really good....that means you can memorize stuff if you learn it while walking or exercising. It's one of the best ways of trying to memorize, putting together muscle memory with repetition. Tah! *dashes off* |
I do like to dance. I really do remember the dances well. I was good with colorguard and piano in that.
really? I memorize things like dates by writing them. then I remember what order I wrote them on the page and stuff. tata! |
Some people are kinesthetic learners and learn best while in motion or doing a task. Others learn by hearing things repeated and others by writing and listening to music. I don't think that I learn at all while listening or walking around. O_O I'm the person that memorizes the location of the sequence in a phone number instead of the actual number.
|
I only have two phone numbers memorized. And I remember almost nothing i hear.
|
I remember a number!
867- 5309 |
....what?
|
It's a song!

Smell triggers so much stuff.
Last weekend when my sister was with us at Fort Worth, we walked into a shop, and she said "I can't stay here" and immediately walked out. It was the leather...it smelled like her late son's coat, and it just triggered that memory and she couldn't take it. |
I've never had smell trigger a memory, but it's supposed to be the strongest in connection to it.
