Life had always passed him by, like he wasn't good enough to be part of it. He had always dreamed of being something more than what he had been made for, but it didn't seem possible for him. After all, he was incredibly short; if people even looked at him, they always, always, ALWAYS looked down on him. It was a hard life, having to look up at everyone, being worried about being stepped in...that's right. Stepped in.
It was a hard life, being a puddle. And being a magical talking puddle was even worse! People stepped in your face and scattered your picture, but at the same time they stepped on your body. On top of that, it was just a cruel and unusual punishment; he had dreams and goals that he could never complete thanks to his position stuck on the ground. And then, once again, we will visit the fact that he always got STEPPED IN. Which was the case right now. "HEY! WATCH IT, CAN'T YOU SEE THERE'S SOMEONE DOWN HERE?" He bellowed, eyes narrowed. |
Mervin was walking along, minding his own business, when all of a sudden he heard someone shouting. He looked around, but the townspeople ahead him were all keeping to themselves or the person next to them, and there was no one else around. Curious, but not about to make a scene, he walked on, but only a few feet, before falling into a rather large puddle. He sighed aggravated and tried to stand up, only to end up right back in the puddle. He yelled a couple curse words and moved out of it, sitting on the ground still, wiping off his shoes.
Of all places for a puddle... and it hadn't even rained in weeks! It was just his luck... |
"HEY WHAT DID I JUST GET THROUGH TELLING YOU?!" The puddle yelled, an angry face appearing on its surface. "DO I LOOK LIKE SOME DAMN LAKE TO YOU, BOY? I'M A PUDDLE! A FREAKIN' MAGIC PUDDLE! If you don't step in my again, I'll make it worth your while."
