Yup yup!
Emmie is very happy <3 And she now has about 20k pure!! <3 Ohhhhh - gotcha :3 That's what I wasn't sure of - didn't realize it was that kind of an area :3 We don't have anything like that around here - just empty lots and we have to dig our own septic and everything :3 Definitely helps when it's an already prepared lot!! That's not good :( Is there any way you can edit the models? Or is it simply take what you get? Can you alter them after they've been built? Like, later on down the road? |
Some places let you change the model when it is being built...it just depends on who owns it and how the contract between them and the construction people have.
But obviously I don't know what kind they are where Andais is. |
The models here you choose how they are modified before they are built because most of the changes are what they call "upgrades." These upgrades are more money and get added to the cost of the house. We priced out a model with the few upgrades we want and it comes out to $155,000, which isn't bad for a brand new house and the square footage.
There are still a few areas that we've been told to check out, since they aren't far from where I work and that would put us in a centralized location for Rodd if he gets a job in Phoenix. We aren't that far out from downtown Phoenix. |
@Terrena: That's why I asked :3
I know some places let you alter, to an extent, in the building process, while others don't but once it's built it's yours until you sell it so you can kind of do what you want with it :3 I'd hate to have to only have a model and not be able to make it my own!! @Andi: Dannnnnnng o.O; Hopefully you can price out somewhere cheaper! That's crazy expensive!! I mean, our house wasn't even built for that much and we had to do basically everything o.O; Then again, our house isn't like, eco-efficient or whatever (like, there isn't huge windows everywhere to get most of the heat via the sun, nothing is solar powered, etc.), so maybe that's why it only only like, 1/4 (at max) of that price? Plus, we built it ourselves, we didn't hire a construction company or whatever lol Still wicked crazy though :( Are the other places you're looking at cheaper or..? |
That's one of the cheapest areas and I really like the house. It's 1800 sq feet. I meant to say that the house isn't bad for that price. Definitely get a nice layout for what the price, plus it's in a good neighborhood. Plenty of schools nearby, day care centers, lots of places to walk too.
|
That's ridiculoussss o.O;
I wish you luck saving up for it hun!! Apparently houses are like that here though too lol Double-wides are going for about 200k now! It's crazy o.O; -was talking to my Mom about it- I'd rather spend that much on a house than a double wide! People are crazyyyy for the way they price things! |
$155,000 really isn't that bad for a brand new house...although I don't know it when adding square footage into the equation. XD
All information I know came from watching HGTV all the time...I haven't done that in a long time now...probably a year since I used to live on that channel. XD |
Lol! You're talking to a girl who built a house for not much more than 20k hun~
I don't know our sq footage, but it's a decent sized house that can easily accommodate 4 people (aka, 4 bedrooms) :3 4 bedrooms, a small back room area, a full kitchen, a huge living room, a full bath, and a half bath - all for under 20k :3 All you're paying for when you buy a house for $155k+ is labor (when you're building). And if you're buying a house someone is selling that's already built, you're paying a price that they paid (probably with interest due to the real-estate market) so they can recoup what they spent on the house (aka, the labor if they built it or the price they had to pay from the people they bought it from) :3 It's just a chain of labor costs that gets added into the equation that make it so expensive lol When you get right down to the nitty gritty, 1/3 or less of the cost of the house is actual housing costs. The rest is just labor if you use a construction company :3 To me it's just outrageous because I know what it really costs to build a house and know what's a rip off etc. :3 The way people price houses today is just ridiculous lol I'd rather build my house myself than hire some construction company if I have the option :3 |
Well...I know $20000 is cheap for building a house of that size.
Did you and your family build it then? |
Exactly my point. It's labor that brings the expense, not housing costs :P
And yes, we built our own house. Hence why we didn't spend over 100k ;) |
When I'm making good money, I plan on having my house built exactly the way I want it.
But my dream kitchen is probably going to be expensive. xD I also want a jacuzzi tub and one of those insane showers with a billion different shower heads jutting from the walls. And I have all the rooms planned out. <.<; So there'll be at least 5 rooms. [They won't be huge rooms. For example, the guest room that I want won't need to have more than enough room for a bed and a bed-side table.] The office will have built-in book shelves. :drool: |
Hahaha Even if you can't afford everything inside it, if you can afford the shell and enough to get some of the basics in the beginning then that's all you really need to start out :3
You can upgrade/add on/finish while you're living there - that's what my grandparents did :3 Then again, by doing that it'll seem like you're constantly "fixing" the house, which could get annoying... Versus doing it all at once.. xD; Eh - I guess either way it has pros and cons!! Omg - those showers look so comfy!! I would loveee one of those <3 And I love the built-in book shelves as well! I've always loved/wanted those since Beauty & the Beast <3 |
That's true! I hope to be smart and keep my head about me with credit so I will be able to afford my house all at once. I have had one oops when I signed a car with my ex husband but by the time I am ready to get my own house It shouldn't effect me anymore.
Yes! They really look wonderful. It's one of my dreams too for a big shower. So over bathing in closets! And that's exactly where I got the idea from! On a much smaller scale, though, because I wouldn't want to dust that many shelves lol |
There are built-in book shelves here...two total...one in the dining room and one in the living room...they are more of a hindrance really because you can't move them when you want to rearrange the room. :/
But a nice big shower with a bunch of different jets does sound very nice. :) |
@Estrella: -hugs-
I know what you mean :3 My Mom's credit is shot because of my Dad's credit - hers got effected in response due to their marriage - so I totally know how that goes :3 I've been really careful with my credit so far, but some how my Dad managed to force me to max out all of my credit cards just in order to get groceries for this house/general house expenses outside of bills for the past 4 months >.> Luckily that'll be rectified after this month haha Then I'll be debt-free again!!! -so can't wait- Haha me too!! I just want a spa when I take a shower - will feel so much better on my back!! -has major lower back pain- With my shower, I have to stand at the end of the tub (it's a tub/shower unit), lean against the wall, and keep leaning against it until the shower finally its my lower back LOL My shower head is very high and doesn't move down very far, so me being the short one in the family I'm kinda screwed XD; It sucks to have to bend over like that 'cause I have arthritis, so when I bend back up I have to let the hot water unstiffen my back and make the rest of my back feel better! Such an annoying process because by that time, the lower back is worse again, and I just take ibuprofen 'cause I refuse to do the song and dance againXD; When I have my own shower it's DEFINITELY being low xD I don't think I could deal with another high shower head! I mean, I can barely read it with my fingers when I stand on my tippy toes! So unfair T_T </3 LOL! I honestly want that many! I plan to have a library in my house that's just as big if I possibly can - at least one story, even if I can't have two -- it'll at least be a huge room though :3 And the stair case leading to my second story? It's going to be VERY similar to the grand staircase in Beauty and the Beast lol -basically got a lot of her dream house parts from that movie when she was younger- @Terrena: Lol! That won't be a problem for mine because I plan to have a library only in the room, so all that would be in there aside from the books would be chairs and such :3 But yeah, in a regular room? I can definitely see that as a problem! Yet at the same time, I'd almost rather that because at least then you have more walking room instead of a foot or two width taking up space, ya know? I currently have that problem (book cases taking up floor space) and it feels really confining :( Though I bet you anything if I had the bookcases in the walls in a room I was in all the time and liked to rearrange, I'd block them a time or two XD; |
Herro~! *stumbles in* :D
|
|
-takes pictures as Molie stumbles, hoping she'd catch the moment when she fell- ;P
-hides camera- I mean... Watch your step! I've been meaning to get that floor fixed!! -innocent- XD <3 @Baby: Hiya hun! It's been a really long time!! How have you been?? I've been okay - WICKED busy though lol Going to college full-time, opening a business (my www link) and trying to not go insane lol! Other than that, I just dyed my hair again last night -- was supposed to be a Medium Ash Blonde. Yeah. The only thing blond are the random platinum blond strands of hair that have mellowed down in my bangs and through out my hair lol The rest of it is a honey brown with dark brown tints and reddish blond tints XD I'm honestly tempted to try it again in a couple of weeks! I think it's because my hair was a very dark ash brown before hand, so it probably will take a few tries to really lighten my hair -- but I really like the color it's at now so I'm debating lol |

Yeah, my shower head is a detachable one but if you move it at ALL it will end up pointing at the wall or shower curtain and spraying there! It's so annoying! We have to twist it juuuusssttt right so that it will spray straight ahead. Someone, when it was my boyfriend/cousin/cousin's friend staying over, moved it and it took weeks before we could get it to realign. Thankfully, though, it's not like the shower head in the old house. :lol: That one was for short, short people! Seriously! I practically had to do a limbo just to get my head wet. :stare: Probably would have been perfect for you, though. :XD If I have a library that big, it better have a maid along with it to do the dusting lol. I'd like one on a smaller scale. Terrena - I like the idea of built in book cases because there's less room taken up by them. Maybe wall space but at least it leaves more floor space. |
The built-in book cases here stick out from the wall...but they are a part of the wall. :/
I use nothing but my credit card. :/ But I always pay it all off at the end of the month (sometimes before then, and then again at the end). I only have an $800 limit though since I got it as a student card and I am still a student. |
Emma Corrin:
Have been pretty busy with school but I'm glad the first semester just ended. And darn you have debating issues with your hair dye, haha! I wanted to take a look at it too. xD |
Terrena - Yeah, I'd want them INTO the walls, not jutting out.
Hair dye!? I'm thinking of getting my hair layered and then doing the bottom most layer brown, the layer above it blue and the very top layer my natural blond color. |

My new college is just legit retarded and I wish I had never transferred. If it weren't for the money I'm getting out of it I'd probably go insane!! As it is, I'm basically looking at it from the perspective of having a really bad job that pays well :3 Either way though, it's still frustrating to be a second semester Freshman with only 2 credit transfers, and forced to retake the same freaking distributions all over again simply because they'll only accept 2 credits not to do with my major, even if everything is distribution/graduation requirements - they'll only accept 2 >.> Oh man :( How many courses total? Any idea? At least you have some of the major done though and so you won't have to COMPLETELY do it :3 That's better than nothing! Plus, with one major out of the way, it'll be easier to finish up this one :) Hahaha! I've never taken one of those career test thingies - no idea why because I'm pretty sure you're supposed to take them in high school or something, but i never had to take one/got offered to take one etc. I'm wicked curious to find out what I'd score though lol! My previous college only had one astronomy class as well - and it was wayyy late at night lol Which is understandable, but damnnnn - I couldn't stay up that late to take it XD; It looked really fun though! The only astronomy I'm interested in are the constellations and such, though :3 Couldn't really get interested in the rest haha! To be honest, I don't even know if there's anywhere near here to GET an Astronomy degree o.O; Hopefully :3 Only problem is, I'm horrible with research T_T Well, not with the research itself - but keeping my eyes unblurry enough to read it XD; That was my problem with my previous research paper - I would have done AMAZING on it - but I couldn't read all of the research in the time she wanted me to complete it (and she took our materials every weekend, so that didn't help) so I ended up only writing 11 pages on a 30+ page thesis/paper T_T -was VERY disappointed- Though with a Masters/Doctorate - I think you have like, unlimited time to complete it, right? If that's the case then I'd totally be fine :3 Would just take me a couple of years to complete it XD; LOL! Now that's an idea! I wonder if you could do that in general o.O; Would be so much easier to expand instead of think of a new thesis LOL Haha Thankies :) <3 Awww :( That sucks major! Naps are really beneficial :( </3 Sounds like my normal sleeping pattern though xD; -has to have a sleep aid or I wake up every couple of hours and it takes me 3-4 hours just to be able to fall asleep- Quote:
Still, like you knew what you were getting into :( Still sucks major!! That's what I do to - prior to my Dad's escapade that left me having to pay for everything with my credit cards, I would use my credit cards simply to build up credit and would pay them off the first of the month :3 Hopefully that'll be the case after I get paid in a few weeks because I -really- don't want to keep only pay min balances :( o.O I would be SERIOUSLY pissed off if someone messed with it and it took me weeks to get it back to normal! Why don't you get a new shower head and ditch the messed up one? LOL Oh thanks - I'm not that short!!! I'm just not much taller than 5ft XD; Hahaha I don't dust a lot simply because I can't stand dusting xD; I'd make my hubby and kids do the dusting for me ;) I know what you mean though lol It would be a NIGHTMARE to try and dust all of that yourself :3 But it'd be soooo worth it to have that many books ;D When I start getting money in consistently, and I get a bigger place, I plan on looking into purchasing first editions and such -- there are some books from the 1800s that I've been DYING to get my hands on -- one I learned about through an anime (Emma: A Victorian Romance) because the anime was based off of that book, and even featured it in the anime during a library scene :3 It's like $300-600 though T_T;; Quote:
Oh that would just drive me crazy... Why are they part of the wall if they jut out?? The hole point of built-in bookcases is the fact that they are built into the wall, not jutting out from them lol Same, to a degree -- I use mine to build up my credit :3 Been doing that about a year now haha A little over, I think :3 I'm hoping to purchase a car in the spring and I'll need the good credit in order to get a decent deal :3 Quote:
Pwease don't ping me - I really don't like my inbox being full of pings :( </3 Ehh? How did your fist semester just end? o.O; Well, my hair naturally has red highlights and blond highlights - and my natural hair color is brown - so whenever I dye my hair, no matter how dark I try, it always comes out some form of auburn~ I've been experimenting with hair dye lately to see if I can finally find a color that isn't red, but no luck so far lol So I tried blond, wondering what that would do to my hair since I have natural blond highlights as well :3 It didn't do anything but give me some strawberry blond hair, lighten the brown to a honey brown color, give me some dark brown parts, and bring out a light auburn xD; My hair still has red in it though and it didn't turn it blond at all!! I give up with it lol I'm just destined to always have red hair no matter how hard I try to dye it out XD; Eh? Take a look at what? -confused- Quote:
Good luck dying it the blue! I've always wanted to put color into my hair but no one will do it for me XD; -has always wanted purple or pink in my hair- |
Bought Obsidian Gargoyle Wings!

But I'm also a bit impatient and can have a temper in some situations, so... yeah. xD;; I'll still have approximately 10 classes or so to take when I get back, but maybe I can finish by the end of summer semester? It would probably kill me because I'd have to get permission from the school to take more than 20 credit hours for Spring semester, but that would also mean I could come back to Germany earlier. XD And yeah, hopefully having my German major finished will help a lot. I still have an internship I have to do at a German company, but I can do that parallel to my studies. The test I took was a lot more detailed than the one in high school. It gives you a 28-page summary with your personality traits, what environments you're best [and worst] suited for, possible jobs, and also further degrees you might want to go for. It was a very extensive test - I think the test part took me hours to do, but it was also super thorough, which was very helpful. It's free through our career center, and your school probably has the same thing if it's a 4-year university. :3 I had a lecture and lab in astronomy - the lecture was in the morning and the lab was at 9 at night. I ended up dropping the lab because even though I had all the right answers on the tests, the professor kept giving me zeros on the tests just because I rounded one decimal place too early/late. It would have really hurt my GPA, so I withdrew and just took the lecture. I've always loved astronomy, though. I am interested in the lives of stars and the expansion of space and all that fun stuff. XD Aw, I can understand that - thesis papers are almost impossible for me to focus on because they are always so technical and rarely have graphs to help put things into context. XD;; I think you start on your graduate thesis from the beginning, so you have a year or two to finish, depending on how long you take to finish all your classes. I'm pretty sure you turn it in when you're ready to graduate, and if it's accepted, you get your diploma. Of course, I wouldn't write that in blood or anything, but that's what I've gathered from talking to a few graduate students. ^^;; I dated someone with problems sleeping a few years back; that's definitely no fun. D: But yesh, the only time I can nap is if I reaaaaally need it. The only time I've ever slept on a plane, for example, was when I had a 4 AM plane to catch in Barcelona, Spain, and I was flying with RyanAir [a notoriously awful, yet extremely cheap airline company in Europe] - I had to get to the airport the previous evening and I slept for about 30 minutes on my suitcase in front of the check-in counter so I would be first in line to have my visa checked [so I would make it to the flight in time]. By the time I got on the airplane, my head was pounding and I felt ill, so I just laid my head on the window, and the next thing I knew, we were about to land in Italy. XD;; THAT was a time when I needed a nap really badly. XDDD |
