Emma: True...but if anything, take what you have and make something different, as a grand opening special that's only there for a while. Or...make a little section and have a mini yard sale section (yeah...the owner where I work does do that...which is how I got that idea also the yard sale section is a no tax section...don't know how that would work where yall are at though).
|
o.O;
Our shop is a retail gift shop that's unique and sort of high end, with affordable products as well... Yard sales don't exactly fit in with our shop. XD; There are specific supplies that go into certain products, and they can't be combined (ex. food supplies and potpourri supplies). What made products we can combine, are already combined into product items. The problem is that we can't buy the supplies in the quantities that we need, so we're limited for a lot of our products right now and can't make them/can only make a variety but in small quantities or make a lot of a few products using them. On top of that, what we can buy/have bought is late in shipment, which is further limiting us right now :3 The problem isn't creating new products, it's getting the supplies in to physically make them :3 |
Well...our shop is a health food store with herbal supplements, homeopathic remedies, and whatnot like that, and body care. Mostly...we do have bulk herbs, candy, teas, housewares, cleaning supplies, and a new age section. Then there's the eatery.
Make some crafts to sell? Those things are kind of big around this time of year for gifts. Just go to a cheap craft store (even dollar stores could have something) and make a few, quick things. It would be something to have while waiting for shipments and the money to finally arrive. |
Haha Yeah, but I'm sure the yard sale type stuff is similar to what you sell in general, though. For us that would be a completely random off the wall sort of thing :3
-pokes the website- We already do crafting projects and such :3 Again, it's about supplies and quantity :P It's not like you can make 5 projects and put them out. You have to have 20+ right off the bat with supplies to make more as needed, plus a small inventory of it already made in the back :3 |
Actually...the yard sale items are not like items we sell already. They are like fiction books, stuffed toy animals, toys, dishes, and other random items. :/ She also tries and be cute by naming the section "World's Smallest Yard Sale." XD
Well...if that's what you want, that is fine. There are small, independently owned stores that have crafts but they are done in limited numbers and most of the stuff is one of a kind or similar but done a little different. There are no backstocks of the items. I was just suggesting something very short-termed and limited as a special. And I must get the literal pirates of the caribbean: on stranger tides trailer by Tobuscus on youtube out of my head! *bangs head on desk* |
My point was they fit in with a convenient/grocery store versus a gift shop :P
Lol When you're a business that gets orders for large quantities of items/many orders for the same item? You need large quantity/stock available :3 You also need the supplies in large quantity and stock so you can make them as needed :3 It's just simply how business of this sort is constructed :) It's how it's been for 10 years lol It's not a new business, mind you, it's simply a new storefront ;) Besides, craft stores are different than gift shops :3 There is a ceramics store around here that is similar to what you describe, but it's simply ceramics, not diverse and vast like our company :3 Haha What do you mean? I know the movie, but I'm unsure what you're talking about in regard to Tobuscus |
I totally had no idea. I just put random things on my avatar. cx
Ooooh a gift shop? Imma see. :0 |
Hahaha!
Well now you have a title for your avi ;) :P Yup yup! There's so much variety it's crazy haha |
Well that was awesome. I should go to an Arena or something.
Ready for the Halloween getaway. And ooohhh imma stalk that. =w= |
This is what I am talking about Literal trailer by Tobuscus
It's great. I love it! This is bad that I am listening to it before I head off to bed...it will be stuck in my head even more. :/ |
@Baby: Haha Go for it!
Awesomeee :) It's staying open online while we run the storefront so it'll be updated with more items we release to the website :3 @Terrena: Hahaha I'll take a look at it later tonight when I get home from errands :3 And yes, getting it stuck in your head before bed is definitely not a good idea! You'll either dream about it or you'll have a hard time getting to sleep because it'll keep your mind awake and playing it lol! |
Ooooh you should like advertise more.
I'm sure a lot of people will be interested. :0 |
I love this guy. I tend to poof in and out of this thread, sorry Em. x3 |
@Baby: We already have press coverage hun - I don't think we can get much better than that :P ;)
Everyone knows who we are online, and everyone is now knowing who we are locally :3 Anyone can go to the facebook page for updates, to twitter, to our website, to our storefront - we really don't need thousands of dollars in advertisements because it's spreading through word of mouth and through free publicity :3 We're very unique and no one in a 50+ mile radius have ever seen or heard of anything like we do so they're telling everyone and everyone's wanting to to exposes and such :3 I mean, we got internet and phone turned on yesterday and while the guys were setting it up, one of them calls his wife and tells her to go to the website and check it out lol! He was in love with our candy cakes when he saw some of them features on our shelves :3 Everywhere I go and say "Hi I'm Megan from Create A Can", people are like "OHHH! It's so nice to meet you! I've heard so much about your business! I'm very excited to see it when it opens!" before I even finish my sentence! I've got like, a new found celebrity status and it's so freaking hilarious! I get recognized by my name even XD; I went in to get keys copied and the guy saw my name when I signed up for the rewards program and he's like, "Your mom wouldn't happen to be opening up the store down the road, is she?" It was hilarious! So we got talking about how it was my business as well and he was like "I remember you from when you were doing this strictly online! I used to work at Hackett's and your Dad always came in to get huge shipments of cans!" So hilarious that he remembers us from like, 3 years ago! (Which is about how long it's been since we've had the business up and running) It's crazyyy lol Plus, we've already got like, 4-5 local orders since the release of the article in the newspaper last week! It's definitely spreading like wildfire :3 The only way we're going to get into advertising and the like is when we want to advertise our holiday season in all of the newspapers :3 That's about it though! We don't have a big advertising budget a of right now lol @Estrella: Lol That's okay hun xD <3 Hmm - never heard of him! Has he been around long? |
I don't know, Emma, I just found him the other day. xD I haven't done much diggin' into his YouTube page yet.
I really like his voice, though. <3 |
Ohh haha
Does he have a VEVO page or is it just a regular youtube user? |
Regular YouTube, I think.
|
Probably a non-label artist then :3
There's a lotttt of them out there haha I follow a few - some of them can be really amazing :3 A few that I follow have tours together, a few have actual recording studios and make music videos, and one was even asked to record a song or two to represent a book series :3 I love seeing what people can accomplish when they set their mind to it <3 Makes me want them to go to American Idol or something and get a record deal!!! |
But MAN that is big improvement.
Your business must be a total success since so many people caught your interest. I want to try them too. :> |
Well, it's got a 10 year reputation backing it up :3
It's a well founded company and we're just taking it to the next level right now :3 I can't really say yet if the storefront will be a success because we haven't opened it yet, but the online store is definitely a success :) Try what dearie? |
Try going to your online store.
I will tell my friends about it since it sounds awesome. :> |
Ohhhh!
I thought you meant one of our products but I was confused as to which one XD; I gotcha now though :3 And yay for checking it out/Thank You for telling your friends! :D <3 |
Sure no problem.
I'd always like to help boost those awesome stores. Besides, you deserve it since the shop is interesting. :> |
Aww - thank you!
We try very hard to come up with more unique products to keep it that way :) <3 |
I'm sure that'll be what most people look forward to. :>
