@Andi: Lol! My mom just came up with a can idea for a quilting can!
It has something called squares or something in it? These packs of cloth - do you know which ones I mean? I'm totally planking on them lol I don't remember what else she was thinking for it, but I think it was for quilters :3 @Xuvie: Yeah it's different here :3 Sucky about the small towns now having decent internet though :( </3 |
*Mai rolls in* Hello, peeps. :3 How goes it?
|
Hiya Mai :)
Pretty good - busier than hell lol But good :3 How're you? |
Mom likes quilting too! That might be a cute can to have for her. She makes Christmas blankets for people, they turn out quite beautiful.
|
I wish I could quilt :( </3
I want to make a memory quilt/blanket thing of all of my skating uniforms, skating jumpsuits with my medal on them, as well as all of pillows I had growing up that I still have - but I can't sew for the life of me, especially on a machine :( </3 I envy your mom for being able to do it!! I'll show you a pic of it when we get it finished! :) <3 It's in a clear can, so it's a bit different than our normal stuff :3 |
Emma, that sounds quite pretty. I would love to see it when you're done making it.
We went and signed the contract for the house that we want. I now have to get my credit card balance down a bit on the two cards. Hoping to be hired at Target or Ross. Applied to both stores. There is also Home Depot to consider. |
Unfortunately unless I can find someone I trust with it to do it, it's never going to get made xD;
I have all of the material for it, I just can't sew and I have no idea how to make quilts, so I'm kinds screwed with it :( My Mom wants to learn how to sew, so hopefully she'll be able to make it for me if she ever learns :3 I want to get her a sewing machine for her birthday, but unfortunately I didn't get much help from a thread I started here on Mene :( I got a couple ideas, but nothing concrete lol Ah well - I'll probably just go to a sewing store and see if they can point me in the right direction lol! Ooo - good luck on the stores hun! I love Target <3 Don't know much about Ross, but I can't stand Home Depot lol So expensive!! I never go in there unless I absolutely have to and it's my last resort option :3 Yay for signing the contract on the new house though!!!! I have to get my cards down to - I had to live on them over the summer due to having financial issues, but things will be back on track as of March so I'm hoping to get those paid down, then in a few months try and get a car :3 Then my next plan is to build an "addition" to the house, but basically it's just a mini-house of sorts for me to have, so I technically have a place of my own, but it doesn't require me to have land switched over to my name, etc. So much easier ;P |
Hmmm...sewing machine you say, Singer the probably the most dependable, I think they are little more expensive. My mom had one from the 60s for a long time until the motor went out on her and the parts were no longer available for the model she owned. Ended up buying a new one that can do the patterns of stitches, you just program in what you want the stitch to look like from the presets. It's a handy doo-dad to have around. Loved using her sewing machine, they aren't complicated.
I can actually sew by hand, learned in the third grade, it was a requirement. Comes in handy from time to time when a button on my pants falls off or something gets a rent in it. There is one more random thing that needs to be cleared up before we can sign paper work on the house. It could be the difference between us being able to afford the house or not. *sighs* Not a fan of surprises. Ugh. |
I'll have to look into those :3
I've seen where some have those presets and I think those would be awesome for her because she likes the embroidery look as well :3 Well I can sew on a button or simple things like that lol! I just can't make clothes or blankets etc. - by hand because my hands are to shaky and I don't have enough control/feeling in them to do it, and by machine because I can't keep the fabric straight and steady :( </3 Plus sewing machines scare me XD; Oh noes :( </3 When will you find out what it is?? |
I should find out sometime this week. Probably by Friday at the latest.
Look at Amazon for the sewing machine, they might have some stuff. Love Amazon because they have just about everything, including the kitchen sink. When I find out for sure what is happening with me, I will definitely let you know, Emma. |
Aww - well hopefully it's nothing serious and you're still able to get the house! I'll be rooting for ya :D <3
Haha I know right?? I'm always getting great deals from Amazon - it's my go to site for movies! They're soooo cheap when you catch their sales - same with the games :3 |
I will have to remember them for games and movies.
Mmm...mint oreo cookie ice cream. |
Definitely!
You can get up to 70% off or more sometimes on DVDs and blu-ray :3 With games, I got 2 for half off - the game ones aren't as frequent as the DVD/blu-ray ones, but when you can catch them they're pretty decent, depending on if you like the games available :3 But definitely watch them for sales on DVDs & blu-ray - they send out emails if you subscribe to them/have an account with them whenever they have the sales :3 I usually get 20-30 DVDs when I buy LOL Totally blow my money on it :3 Same with when they do the anime sales - I've gotten most of my anime from their sales :3 Mmmmm - I loveeee that kind of ice-cream! <3 I have some in the freezer here at work! Along with Phish Food and a Caramel one :3 <3 It's too cold at work to eat it though :gonk: |
Don't hate me, Emma, but it's 77 degrees today here in Mesa Arizona. Got a nice headache going on, damn crazy hormones.
|
:gonk:
-steals your heat and sun- I WANT WARMTH!!! It's weather advisory storm watches here with snow, ice, freezing rain, hail, and sleet :( </3 It keeps alternating between them at random! It's lightly snowing right now, again, but it was raining during the night T_T; I have a headache too from all the pressure changes and the crappy weather :gonk: I'll be glad when it's summer!! No mud, no snow, no cold, no ice - just warmth <3 I've always said I'd rather die of heat than freeze to death xD; I can't standdd the cold anymore :gonk: Which is kinda crazy 'cause prior to my accident I lived in the cold and hated the heat LOL! |
You should come out here, Emma. You could rent a room from us until you get your feet under you. It could be fun and you'd like the heat, the coldest it gets is at night and it can drop down to 32, but that doesn't happen often where we are. There are parts of Arizona that gets snow, but that is north of us. Phoenix does not get snow at all, neither does Mesa.

Believe me honey - if I could move I'd do it in a heart beat! I'm so sick of living with my Dad it's ridiculous - he yet again ruined my clothes! He washed my $80 satin dress that I bought last spring for the class I had to teach in college, with a brand new black shirt I bought that had a plaid collar, with 4-5 pairs of black leggings, a brand new brown shirt, my grand new mosaic-type shirt, and a random blue shirt. And guess what happened. All of the cream and white in my clothes turned black and tan/brown, my new black shirt with the plaid collar is ruined, and I have to go out and replace everything and by a new wardrobe. Again. This is the 3rd time he's done this in the past 2 weeks. Sooo I get to add laundry onto my list of housework again.. Yay for having MORE to do when I get home at 8pm >.>
I swear, if it weren't for me and Mom this place would be condemned and everything would be stained and ruined. So sick of having to stay up late doing all of this, just to get up early - I'm getting so little sleep - especially because he gets obnoxious at night and wakes both Mom and I up :( </3 [/end vent] Anywhoooo - the weather advisory was right!! I had to dig out the car today when we left the store and there was like, 3 inches at that point. We left early when we heard that the roads hadn't been plowed and cars were going off the road left and right! It's still pretty nasty, and I bet we have another couple of inches of snow on the ground, but it's also starting to turn to a rainy sleet of sorts, and it's supposed to get worse by morning :( </3 Gah - you're just teasing me now!!! It can get below 0 here if it gets really bad :gonk: I really don't like it when it gets below freezing, especially close or below zero - it's so hard to breathe in it!!! I think I may take up your offer and move to Arizona!!! LOL |
Come, join us out here, Emma. It's fabulous for most of the year, Summer can be a bitch. The temps get up there in the 100s and it gets nasty with the dust storms, but we don't do freezing temps.
|
Lol! 100 temps aren't that scary - kinda scary, but better than below freezing!!!
Ick - dust though - that's not good :( </3 How frequent are those?? o.O; |
Dust gets kicked up when there is a big storm coming in, or there are the haboobs, of whatever they are called. The haboobs aren't common, usually happen once every 10 years or some crap...there were two last year, but that was a fluke.
Emma, there is also the water parks that are open until 2 am on the weekends during the summer time. Always wanted to play in a water park after the sun went down. Sounds like fun! |
o.O
Haboobs? That sounds like something out of Aladdin XD; o.O 2am??? That's crazy!! I'm petrified of water, so I doubt I'd go on any of the rides, but that sounds like fun though! Going on water rides at night - definitely doesn't happen often!!! |
They mean something, but I forget what exactly. I know what causes them, it's a thunderstorm or system that suddenly collapses so the air pressure drops to the desert floor and spews the dust out with a harsh force and the winds are crazy. Visibility is low and everything gets covered in dust, surprise, right? Winds can get as bad 60 miles an hour, if not worse. We haven't been here when a storm has hit the area, so no first hand account.
Today is horror movie day...kind of fun to see what netflix has on demand. Some of this stuff is ridiculous. :) |
o.O;
:gonk: IT'S THE DUST BOWL ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think at that point I'd have a meltdown, go into fetal position, and hid under a blanket far away from the windows and doors xD; I'd be petrified of being buried alive in dust!! LOL I know right? I keep getting horror suggestions and some of them I just laugh at - I'm like "Seriously? People watch this???" Netflix can be pretty disappointing with their selection for Instant Viewing :( I was sooo disappointed with Netflix a couple months ago! There's an anime/manga/J-drama that I'm OBSESSED with - Boys Over Flowers (Hana Yori Dango) - love it to death! There is a Korean version of the Drama out there, that's so unrealistic and crazy, not to mention has horrible acting, and Netflix put that show up there for people to watch on Instant Viewing :gonk: I saw "Boys Over Flowers" - got extremely excited - clicked on it - saw that it was for Korea - and died a little :( </3 I keep hoping I'll see the J-Drama version of it!! I can't seem to find it on DVD anywhere for me to buy :( </3 I luffs it mucho!! |
So far I am enjoying the horror section of netflix right now. Some of the stuff they have is cheesy as all hell, it's great. Not many scary movies really creep me out. Pet Semetary is one that can still freak me the hell out.
Right now we are watching a movie that is a documentary about an asylum that is haunted. Like movies such as this, the element of truth and creepiness to it. There is a college out near where my parents still live and it was once a mental hospital that they turned into a state college. Had to do a live scan for a school I was attending and the buildings were being renovated at the time, it was so quiet and weird. Talked to a couple of the guards and they said they heard strange noises at night, other then the building settling, doors opening and closing by themselves. Most of the old buildings were turned into class rooms and not used as dorms. Instead they built new buildings for the dorms and added some new classrooms. |
No idea what that is lol
I don't watch horror because it over-works my imagination at night and I have more nightmares than usual xD; But I like to watch the less horrory ones and more suspenseful ones - those aren't too bad, depending on the level of suspense :3 Lol! Which asylum?? The asylums were always my favorite investigations during Ghost Hunters - they always had the most action and the most results!! So fun to watch, yet so sad to hear the history and see so many lost souls still haunting the place :( </3 LOL! Well at least they didn't make people SLEEP in the old asylum!! Better to be there during the day when there's less activity than to have to sleep there all night and possibly get scarred for life because of it :( So crazy that they turned it into a school though, of all things! Do they still have activity there?? Like, now that the renovations are complete? |
