The Cherry known as Apple
 

How Amanda came to be known as “Apple.”
That stupid boy had called her “Cherry.” She looked up from what she was doing, pushing her deep red hair out of her face. “That’s not my name,” She replied with a hint of anger. “My name is Amanda.” She turned back to her drawing of her hero: Blaine - the fiery quizmaster - the man who has taught her about her beloved arcanine.
The boy moved closer to touch her hair. “Yeah, I know. But your hair is cherry red. So I thought you’d like the nickname Cherry.” His group of friends laughed at his wit. Amanda didn’t think it was so funny. She turn her head sharply and stood up. She grab the boy's wrist and banged him against the wall. “I’m allergic to cherries. I don’t like damn cherries. Call me Cherry again and I won’t hesitate to break you arm.”
A girl that had been standing by said: “ Hey! Okay, let go of him! How about the nickname Apple? I mean, apples are red too right?”
Amanda smiled. The girl with the short black hair had a way with people - and pokémon. Shelia was Amanda best friend, a quick witted master of ghost and psychic pokémon that could rival Sabrina, but chose not to. Amanda had to admit that Shelia was right, and that she shouldn’t be threatening this boy. She released his are, sat back down and said “Fine, call me Apple. But never even think about calling me ‘Cherry’ again.” Shelia just laughed.



I figured we could just start with little back stories....

Frank sat by a lake letting Zangoose run about and Lapras swim around he was watching the clouds when he was hit with a splash of water he sat up with a grin to see Lapras swimming away laughing "Think thats funny huh?" he called removing his shirt and diving in after his pokemon when he reached her he tickled he underside. He then came up for air to see Zangoose looking at them "Come on in Zan, it's just water" he got out before Lapras hit him with another splash. when he came back up he saw a girl standing on the edge of the road watching them, "hello" he said climbing out of the water and called out his Salamence, "hey bud could you dry me off?" "SALAMENCE" it called as it started beating it's wings.

Apple had often come to this lake after she moved to the mainland to think. It reminded her much about her island home. As she walked down the woodland path with arcanine she heard splashing and laughter - something that she rarely heard at the lake. She put her had on the belt that held her remaining pokémon, getting ready incase she was attacked by a wild, or challenge. She was surprise when she rounded the bend to see a a young looking boy - and his pokémon. The boy was good looking, but she knew a trainer when she saw one. Getting angry about the intrusion at her relaxation spot, and getting hyped up for a battle she yelled out "Hey! Who are you and why are you at my lake?!"

"Wow sweety, calm down i didn't see a name and i needed a place to relax and let my team rest and have some fun, hold on a sec Salamence Return, but i can leave if you want or would you rather share and make a friend, names Frank by the way," he said holding out his hand to shake it then he saw Arcanine, "and what a beatuiful Arcanine you have there" he smiled hoping he could clam her down

The boy was not only good looking, he was friendly. Amanda stared at his hand, which he had offered in hopes of friendship. Amanda didn't have many friends - she had been friends with Shelia on the island, but that friendship had ended once Amanda set foot on the mainland. There was Terro, her beloved arcanine, but other than him Amanda had no friends. She cautiously took his hand, "Hi, I'm Amanda. Sorry about lashing out before, I've just never seen anyone here but me and my pokémon. I can see that you are a trainer. What is your name?" Then she remembered that he had already told her. "Sorry, Frank right?" How could she have been so distracted?

"Frank" he smiled i said it quickly earlyer, thats Zan and Lapras, you say Salamance earlyer i can show the rest of the gang if you want Amanda, I like your hair it's really cool" he said sitting back by the water taking the hand shake as a invite to stay, he thought wow she is really cute don't fuck this one up Frank he motioned for her to sit beside him, "Nobody bites, well Zan does if i tell him to but thats about it" he said with a laugh

Amanda was wondering about this boy. I wonder hold old he is? I mean, wow he looks so young. "Uh, hey Frank... How old are you? I mean you look really young to be a trainer..." Why am I so nervous? It's not like I've never talked to guys before. "Oh, I saw that you had a Lapras...Is that what the splashing noise was?" She tried to laugh, is seemed to come out like it was forced. She sat down next to Terro, and looked in his eyes; Terro licked her face. "You always understand..." She whispered quietly, patting his warm fur.

Terro had found her when she was a child, he was her only friend. She had been crying alone on the beach. It was the one year anniversary of her parents deaths. She didn't even have any memories of them. Her mother had died in childbirth and he father shortly after of a broken heart. Amanda had been put into an orphanage and she had stayed there till she turn 13. But that year, she had just barely been old enough to walk, she had made her way to the beach. While she was sitting there a growlithe found her and comforted her. Terro was her only friend.

This boy had no idea who she was or anything about her life. I wonder how he'll treat me if I tell him my parents are dead? Probably like most people: feel sad for a minute then walk away and leave me alone again. It wasn't that Amanda could feel love, it's that she had never been loved. Being in the Orphanage had made her tough. But for some reason she couldn't be tough around this beautiful boy. It was like his eyes could see her soul, and that frightened her. She didn't notice that she did, but she scooched over and almost hide in Terro massive body. "You always understand..." She said again.

"I am 17 and yes i am a trainer and yes Lapras, i am kinda young but i have a few badges." he took out his badge case to show off his 4 badges. "You got any, you okay you look distracted"

Amanda - who was lost in a flashback - felt Terro’s wet nose nudging her. Wha- oh, yeah. There is someone else here. She looked over to where Frank was sitting, but she didn’t have to look far. (He was right next to her after all.) She jumped a little when she saw him again. His eyes are really beautiful. It was then that she realized he didn’t have a shirt on. Dear God, why did I have to come to the lake today? Coming out of her daze she said as she started to stand, “Distracted?” She then leaped into the air and did a backflip making her loose t-shirt slide down enough to show a little bit of her stomach. Thank god my skirt didn't fall down. That would have been awkward... She thought as her toes touched the ground.
She landed on her toes facing away from him, so she spun around wanting to see the look on his face; it was perfect. 17, he said. hmm... This will be easy. I’ll just lead him to the gym, he’ll get really exited, and want to go battle Richtor, [Rick-tor] (the leader). Then while he’s battling I can ditch him.
“I think you are the one that is distracted.” Amanda added a wink and a giggle. Frank... I’m sorry for this, but I don’t want you to get hurt. I know that leading you on is wrong... but there is no way you would like someone like me.
“If you want me to I can lead you to the gym in town.” She reached into her bag - that she had set on the ground and pulled out her own badge case. “I already have Richtor’s badge. ‘The Foundation Badge.’ It’s supposed to make level 70+ loyal. I think that’s what Richy said. I’ve been training with him for the past month, he wasn’t too tough for me to beat though. He has mostly rock and steel type. But he is really powerful, and I’ll give you a hint...” Uhh... don’t use his name... “Fred: Richy likes to use sandstorm. That’s what got me the first time.” Amanda had a feeling she was being to obvious, but she hoped that he was young enough to know that he should back off or something would happen that they both might regret.

"Nay i would rather not go to the gym right now and last time somebody lead to the gym they ditched me so i am good here unless you would rather have me leave" Frank said standing and putting his shirt on

It was then that Amanda knew she would never be able to fool this boy. Damn It. He's smart too. "No, that's okay. You don't have to leave, yet. Sorry if I left that Impression by the way. I'm not the kind of person that would ditch people. Why don't you want to go to the Gym yet? You should be tough enough." Amanda smiled. " So, you never answered my question.. why are you at my lake?"

I am here just passing by and relaxing" said Frank watchign his pokemon "and i haven't gone to the gym because i haven't wanted to yet and now its your turn, any badges?"

"Well, don't you know how to say something smugly." (( kas, it's a word. look it up.)) Amanda said. "Of course I have badges, didn't you see them? I showed you my case didn't I?" Amanda thought for a moment... I wonder if I should show him my berry patch... He seems trustworthy... Amanda twirled her bangs in her fingers and looked at the ground. Then she looked at Frank, who was watching his pokémon intently. "Yes." She said to herself. She walked over to where he was standing and asked "I know this is stupid, but does your Lapras know Surf? Because there is a berry patch on the other side of the lake... I could show it to you if you have nothing better to do." She looked at him Hopefully, with a smile on her face.

"Of course it does, Zan, Lapras get over here please" he said walking to the edge of the water his Zangoose jumped on his shoulder then he climed on Lapras then he held out his hand to help up Amanda "you coming?" he asked with a smile

"Uh..yeah." Amanda said taking his hand. " Oh wait!" She said letting go of it. "Terro loves the berry patch - Terro return!" She stood still for a second. Am I doing the right thing, Terro? She turned to take his hand again. She smiled His hand is warm. It was then that she realized she was blushing. She jumped on Lapras' back and sat down. She sighed, "It's about half a mile away, can your Lapras go that far without stopping?"

Frank laughed that was soposed to be sexy but he never saw it but some girls did and he said "you heard the young lady buddy to the berry patch" he said Lapras followed the edge if the lake like it was taught to. "So after we eat you wanna have a fun little battle six-on-six?" he asked

Taking her bag off her shoulder she thought...Wow, what a creepy laugh... I wonder if he's a really a bad guy... Nah... "Young Lady?" Amanda said. " How old do you think I am?" She flipped her hair out of her face, revealing the stars tattoo next to her left eye. "And about the battle, sure." She kicked off her shoes. She knew her team was ready and strong. She had one more badge than he did and he had let her see most of his team. She took off her socks and folded them neatly into her bag. "There's the patch," she pointed to the nearing shoreline. "Race you." She said before she dove into the lake.

Frank smiled and called out Lapras Agility ((I have seen it)) and they zoomed by Amanda and stopped to at the sure he jumped off and clled back his Lapras then his Zangoose he turned as she climbed out of the water he dropped her stuff that he grabbed off his pokemon before he jumped off "I win"

Amanda had almost drowned when Lapras went speeding by. A fact that she was about to make known as she crawled out of the water. "You JERK!!" She screamed, putting her left hand on her hip and jabbing her pointing right hand into his chest. "You dirty, lying cheater! Why in the hell did you do that?! I meant a swimming race! Using Lapras... You know what? Take me back. I don't want to battle you anymore. I don't battle cheaters!" She grabbed her pokéball "Viren!" And her level 47 Blastiose appeared. She was still dripping wet when she reached for he stuff that was lying at his feet.

"hey hey calm down, sorry my other friends would have found it funny sorry again, you would not have shown this to be if you were going to leave me behind right?" Said Frank his face sad that he pissed her off "5-on-6 i get five?" he asked still hoping to battle

Amanda sighed again. What was it about this boy that made her act this way? She moaned and turned around to look at him. "So, you are a dedicated trainer. Well, I wouldn't want to dent your pride. 6 on 6 it is then. I even let you go first... Frank." She felt happy for a moment when she said his name. "Frank," she said again "Before the battle do you mind if we just talk a bit? I don't really know you, and I like to know who I challenge. Take Richtor for example, he had to ask me on a date before I'd battle him. Do you wanna know where he took me? He took me to meet his roomate, Thresch. I battled his roomate, adn I thought I would lose, then Thresch called me..." she made a gagging sound. "Cherry."

"i can see Cherry but i like apples more so i would have went with apple sure we can talk what do you wanna know" Frank said sitting on the ground

Amanda laughed, "Haha...Apple, really? Have you met someone by the name of Shelia Tannen? She gave me that nickname in middle school." Amanda laughed again, then became quiet. Should I tell him? Amanda thought. "Umm... where are you from?" She bite her lip. "How did you get here? " She smiled, hoping that he didn't notice the difference in her tone.
