Favorite Alcoholic Beverage...
I just thought I would make a thread to see what those who drink (legally of age) drink when they go out. What are your favorite drinks? List three of them, I would be interested in seeing what they are. I like raspberry margaritas, royal flushes, and I like blue motorcycles.
Also discuss what types of beer, liquors, and wines to stay away from that give you massive hangovers the next day. |
well, since i'm still underage for buying anything, i don't know yet. my husband thinks that i probably wouldn't be able to handle much and that i'd probably like wine coolers, or whatever they're called. i'm not sure what my husband actually likes, but i know he can handle a lot. i remember seeing both him and his brother with the same drink. his brother took a sip a flinched, and my husband just took the shot in half a second. also, i keep telling him that he'd probably get alcohol poisoning before he gets drunk. :p

I don't drink, I am not an alcohol person however I would LOVE to try a pina colada. And my best friend has told me that margaritas are pretty good, so I guess I wouldn't mind trying one of those either.

I, too am underage.
However, I've had a ton of experience with mixing (one of my closest friends is a bartender; we brainstorm a LOT) and I've had more than my fair share of parties and get-togethers where alcoholic drinks have been served. My sole rule is this: Don't drink to get drunk. This is stupid. Drink to feel comfortably numb, but still cognisant of yourself. That being said, I'm a vodka fiend. My two staples are Screwdrivers (big duh) and Kamikazes. I enjoy citrus-y flavors in my drinks, so I love incorporating orange, lime, lemon and grapefruit juices. Anyone else in my boat? |
I definitely 100% wholeheartedly agree with not drinking to get drunk, just to have fun. If I ever did decide to try my Pina Colada and/or margarita, and I do plan to because I didn't make it clear in my first post but I AM of age, I am 23, I would never allow myself to get drunk. When you are new you have to be careful and experiment with how much you can handle because depending on your weight every individual can drink a different amount of alcohol without getting drunk.

Admittedly, I started drinking even before I was legally old enough to do so, but never for the purpose of getting drunk. I only do social drinking, aka drinking when it's a party with friends or for some special occasion (ex. debuts). Personally, I don't see why people would drink to get drunk. Drinking alone is very sad. =\
Anyhows, favorites? I'm all for hard drinks. Vodka is my absolute favorite of all time! <3 Vodka Sprite definitely is on top of that. And anything else you can mix with vodka. xDD;; I'm actually not a fan of margaritas, strangely enough. B52 is another favorite (more for sentimental purposes >;P). And oh! I also love the different kinds of Kahlua. =) <3 And what don't I like? Beer. I hate the stuff. :x But I've acquired a taste for it, yes, So I can drink it if there's nothing else to drink, but it's something I will never choose for myself. Oh, and Bailey's. I should like the stuff, since it's milky, but I don't. >.>;; </3 |
I'm of legal drinking age in Australia (where I'm from) and I can still count the amount of drinks I've had on my hands, I don't go over board with drinks, I try to only have alcohol on special occasions... I don't mind raspberry Ruski's or Crusisers but I stop after three... it's still the most I've had in a row and I'm not in a hurry to change that, I can have fun without alcohol, I don't need it, and to be honest, it tastes bad :P, I reckon the vodka cruiser would taste much better minus the vodka

Ever since then as she finished her years in American college here she had always drunk lightly just to fit in with her friends at pep band parties and such and found it enjoyable when kept at such a minimum level. I would not mind trying the same if I can find an alcoholic beverage to my taste such as a Pina Colada. |
@ Bella_Cullen : I probably am luckier because the legal age here in the Philippines is 18. >;P I probably started when I was... 15? 16? Not regularly, mind you, but I was drinking a bit back then. It escalated when I was around 17 and/or 18 due to all the 18th birthday parties and debuts I was attending, and now it's died down a bit due to being busy in University. ^^;;
I don't think I would drink to fit in, but I won't say I haven't done so once or twice. I have different groups of friends who have different interests, so only some of them actually drink. But like I said, I only do social drinking. Never just drinking because I feel like it and wanna get drunk. xDD;; Pina Coladas are nice~ :3 <3<3 I still prefer my vodka though. XP |
I'm underage, but my family spent a summer vacation in Alberta where I was legal. Also I drink at home with my mom and sister... and when I go over to friends places ^.^
I love vodka coolers. Smirnoff and me are tight. hmm... I don't have fancy drink names, but I love anything with Whiskey or Rum in it. But I do know I like Daiquiris, and Vodka Sunrises. But try and give me wine or beer, and I'm afraid my dear, I'm going to walk away. Nasty stuff. |
I'm underage and a drunk. hahaha, no really, but here kids start drinking young. My favorite is vodka or koskenkorva with red bull or other energy drink. cheap enough and good.
|
I think most people start drinking underage now XP Lucky me the legal age is 18 in England. Yey for being 18!
My favourite is Jack Daniels and coke. God I love that XD I've tried a few cocktails before. Pina Colada is nice. Sex on the Beach is very fruity. It REALLY wanna try one called the Sonic Screwdriver XD Two guesses as to why. |
I'm not a fan of drinking. I've never been drunk, avoid alcohol during most social settings, and haven't touched any since around July. So that being said, my experiences with different drinks is pretty limited.
While I studied abroad in Poland this past summer, beer drinking was such a part of the culture that I simply couldn't avoid it. That at least helped me develop a taste for good beer. Okocim is great. Add a little raspberry syrup to it, and I'd call that my favorite drink. Piast beer is a close second. I also like red wine. It's such a nice drink to sip with a good dinner. |
Gin is my favourite. I can drink enough of the stuff to drown a horse, and still it never gives me a hangover.
I also quite like Mojitos, but rum tends to give me stomach aches the next day. And I love white or rose wine (red wine makes me sickly, and always gives me horrible hangovers), my favourite is Monbazillac, a sweet French white. It's very easy to drink, and the hubby and I first discovered it on our honeymoon in Paris, so it has good memories associated with it. I don't like beers, lagers or most ales, though. I can stand Scottish heather ale, but that's about it. |

You're between eighteen and twenty I'm guessing right? I think the drinking age was fine at eighteen long ago, but I guess to lower it now would just create a bigger stir of drinking and driving issues along with a myriad of other issues related to drinking. Sounds like your husband has a high alcoholic tolerance. @Bella_Cullen ~ I do drink margaritas on occassion, and yes, pina coladas are totally delicious. My favorite is raspberry margaritas. @Bite ~ I do some vodka, but that old Aristocrat Vodka kills me, I have to get stuff that isn't going to give me a hangover like Absolute or something of that quality. I drink every so often but not to get drunk, that happens maybe once every other month if even that much. @Rylynne ~ I think a lot of people have drank underage. I believe that seventy-five percent of people have had at least one drink under age. I did when I was in England, Italy, and other parts of Europe. My father did mind it since I was with him when I did, it never has really been that big of a deal to me really. Like I said about Vodka, has to be good quality unless I use just a little with another kind of alcohol or just really mix it down. Beer, I have to have high quality just like vodka. I like Boddington and Bass. Sometimes I like Newcastle as well. |
@Knerd: Okocim is pretty amazing. It's one of my favorite beers other than Gulden Draak.
I love drinking Captain Morgan Private Stock, or any good whiskey (Jameson, J&B, Maker's Mark, etc). If I'm going for something lighter on alcohol I absolutely adore Tequila Rose. Most of the time I drink for the flavor and a little buzz, but every once in a while I'll get a bit drunk, but not so much that the room is spinning. Getting too drunk takes the fun out of drinking. |
I don't really have a favorite alcoholic beverage quite yet. I am quite partial to Jager. OH, and Tequila, lol

I saw wine brought up somewhere.
Church-y wines and red wines are so unbearably bitter and terrible to me.. But, I must say. Blush wines are the sweetest, tastiest little drinks to have when playing card games. I.e. Texas Hold 'Em and Bullshit/Cheat. They are fruity, delicious juices which have a slight bit of bite to 'em.. perfect for game or movie night with friends :) (And Isato? Your avatar is damn adorable.) |

when absinthe was illegal, there was one bar in chicago that sold it for a while. when i turned 21, i went in and asked for it, and the bartender said "no, the city put a stop to that. but I do have a drink that's made with COCAINE"
but these are my poisons: liquors: absinthe, agwa beer: wheat ales, beer in cans wine: dear god, i can't even smell wine without gagging. had one REALLY TERRIBLE night. it wasn't even like being drunk it was like being poisoned--- like someone was stabbing me in the stomach with knives. i remember screaming in pain the whole night. |
Depends on my mood I guess....after a long day of work: Beer.
Sitting around with family: Wine Going out with friends: Vodka or Rum |
I normally only have alcopops, I am a huge lover of smirnoff ice, its fizzy vodka and bitter lemon. You just can't beat it.
I do love white wine though too, I am an Asti girl if ever there was one. Also I love coctails. The Blue Lagoon would most likely be my favourite. |
