Grandma would also make various cookies such as chocolate chip and raisin and puddings such as chocolate and she likes to serve ice cream with apple jelly.

strange_dreams_512 03-06-2010 07:16 AM

Awwwh yeah my grandma used to cook a lot too.. all Japanese though haha xP (she's pure Japanese so that's why.. and also why I first thought about learning the language more lol).. I loved her food : o sooo goood..and so much variety too!

Kaze- when we visit my relatives in Japan you should try their food : D besides at shops and stuff too like ramen but the way they cook it's really tasty.. even stuff you don't expect to like at least for me was made a lot better xD

I would love to learn more of Japanese cooking. I love Japanese food...especially sushi rice foods. Actually, I'm one of those rare Americans who loves sashimi. What I want to learn though, is how to prepare a proper obento box. I think it would be great for when I start college.

strange_dreams_512 03-06-2010 07:32 AM

I own a bentou box.. passed down from my grandma. I've served my sister breakfast in it a few times when she was too sick to get out of bed. : o I know some things you can put in it but idk exactly what the "proper" thing is. *shrugs*

Ohhh I just remembered..! I put Japanese recipes on my website.
I think this should help...

lol .... most Americans don't like sashimi? XD *so didn't know that*

Acobjum 03-06-2010 07:32 AM

I love sushi. Whenever I see it I eat it. I also love various sea food such as eel and octopi.

The Wandering Poet 03-06-2010 07:33 AM

yah hahaha i love Japanese food so much XD it striked my belief that any food can be good if you make it a certain way

Jeth- that link was for you as well xP
Aco- well that's good (=

The Wandering Poet 03-06-2010 07:45 AM

^^ okay... true... like spinach is good unless in soup =3 or clams without butter = nummy

strange_dreams_512 03-06-2010 07:48 AM

hahaha yeah you just have to find the right way that you like it (= the reason that people don't like certain foods is because something doesn't sit right with them about it and if you add certain spices or slowcook instead or find some way to draw attention away from the texture.. even change it if you can.. it can be liked a lot more..

Acobjum 03-06-2010 07:51 AM

Various treats my family likes to make include snow balls (cookie balls rolled in white powder or sugar), pretzel sticks covered in either chocolate or caramel, chocolate and peanut butter swirl cookies, various fudges, white chocolate drink, cookie balls covered with and filled with chopped nuts, and other goodies.

The Wandering Poet 03-06-2010 07:54 AM

That's one thing I wish parents understood... either they really do hate it... or they hate it THAT way... like for me I hate broccoli and cauliflower... cooked or no... but I'll eat the rest uncooked... but cooked I will not touch any of them.

strange_dreams_512 03-06-2010 07:54 AM

Acob- Heyy I want sommmeeeee.... @[email protected]" *reaches out hand*

With blueberries, blackberries, and/or raspberries mom would cakes and pies out of them. Other fruits she or my grandma would use are peaches, apples, apricots, pears, strawberries, etc.

You both rest well then.
