Yeah that is one example (: among many lol

The Wandering Poet 06-22-2010 06:36 AM

The forbidden poem

Walking the streets
With no place in mind
Looking to the stars
With no wish at heart

He observes all things
Giving advice freely
But they are riddles
His idea of a fee

Vanishing with no trace
Appearing with even less
Wandering the world
To finish their goal

To do the impossible
That which is a myth
To create the poem
Too perfect to write

He wanders for clues
No place in mind
Looking for hints
Special inspiration

Knowing it exists
That it was left
Unwritten by all
The forbidden poem

Spending many years
They wander the world
Their face unknown
Their name forgotten

The myth that was not known
Wandering the world forgotten
Poet who reach for unreachable

Opinions? =)

That one actually I really like. It is curious in nature to think about what exactly that means so it is a tad but confusing but it doesn't look like it was meant to be straightforward either. It is true, isn't it? It is forbidden. If you are a poet trying to make that poem, you may never, even if you want to, because it is so unreachable. I do think that people can continue writing poems and be happy with some of them, but there will always be some sort of nagging feeling, even if it is something that someone else mounts in gold and hangs on the wall, that will stop them from feeling 100% satisfied.

 I love playing with the mind in my poems... to where a poem is about everything... but also nothing. But one thing not mentioned, is that it is a poem about a poem that I have been trying to write for the last year or so, yet it never feels right because I want it to be the perfect poem... I want to make a poem that survives in history

strange_dreams_512 06-24-2010 01:21 AM

Hmm history wise it is easier to do that if there is a movement or a momentous event or something and you are largely a part of it for your literature. xD

zazabar 06-24-2010 01:34 AM

I really liked that last poem you posted, :3. The only part that struck me as off was the very last line. Something about the grammar kind of throws it off and leaves you with a bitter taste in your mouth.

Oh, and hi!

The Wandering Poet 06-24-2010 01:59 AM

Oh didn't notice that yeah I just wanted to endd it though XD cause I was running out of ideas

zazabar 06-24-2010 02:18 AM

Haha, I know how you feel, <3; I haven't written in about 5 years, but I'm about to start again.

strange_dreams_512 06-24-2010 02:24 AM

Shoo away the butterflies
Just open up your eyes
To write something extraordinary
Is yet but a surprise

zazabar 06-24-2010 02:32 AM

But when you write
and cease to amaze
Just step back
and remember to dream

Everything you want
and everything that can be
will spill on out
and form the perfect thing

Yeah, I know it doesn't rhyme at all, but hey, XD; Like I said, it has been a while.

strange_dreams_512 06-24-2010 02:39 AM

Simple
Surpasses
Beauty

...
Think about it xD

zazabar 06-24-2010 02:46 AM

But what if something simple is beautiful? :3

strange_dreams_512 06-24-2010 02:48 AM

ya that was basically what I was saying. Poetry can be whatever you want it to be. It doesn't mean that it has to rhyme. It doesn't even mean that it has to make sense to someone. It also doesn't mean that it has to be confusing. It is simply your personal observation or expression.

zazabar 06-24-2010 02:58 AM

I know, I know, <3;

That is what makes writing both fun and frustrating at the same time. Curse you literature classes where you have to dissect everything!

AlphaShrek 06-24-2010 02:59 AM

*yawns and stumbles in*

strange_dreams_512 06-24-2010 03:04 AM

zazabar: ya really... it's not like these explanations have to be complex... x-x too many schools do that..! So frustrating!

AlphaShrek: Hello. How are you?

AlphaShrek 06-24-2010 03:08 AM

Strange: Pretty good actually, and you?

zazabar 06-24-2010 03:12 AM

@strange
I know, it is really annoying. I recently got my B.S. in Biochemistry, and of course, coming from a liberal arts school, we had to take a few english and literature courses. Freshman literature classes should not require a 10 page analysis of a book or poem, ~_~;

strange_dreams_512 06-24-2010 03:54 AM

AlphaShrek: uhhm o-o" good. I just.. @[email protected] am getting dizzy. I gotta get food. >.<
Zazabar: Yeah not exactly ideal. I remember in my AP European History class, high school sophomore year I had to write an 18 page paper on different people in the Enlightenment.

zazabar 06-24-2010 03:57 AM

How old are you strange?

strange_dreams_512 06-24-2010 04:26 AM

Huh? um.. 17..graduated early cause im awesome like that ahah XD

zazabar 06-24-2010 04:28 AM

Ahhh, okay, haha.

<--- is 23. I'm an old fart, D: Noesssssss.

strange_dreams_512 06-24-2010 04:50 AM

No ahaha I didn't mention my bday is in less than 6 months and I am engaged to someone who will be 22 when we get married. XD Don't feel old lol.

The Wandering Poet 06-24-2010 09:25 AM

Now I feel old >.< ppl know I'm engaged to someone 4 years younger than me... :ninja:

zazabar 06-24-2010 01:54 PM

Not that big of a deal. I was dating someone 5 years younger than me at one point. Age is -usually- just a number.
