Childhood Treasures
Yesterday in English class, I had to write a paragraph or two about a childhood treasure. I wrote about this teddy bear that I got for my 5th birthday from my grandparents. It was about 2 feet long, so almost my size at the time. It was my best friend that I took everywhere I could. I changed its name all the time and couldn't decide if I wanted it to be a boy or girl, so that'd change too. It was light brown, and had short kind of curly hair with a red and brown scarf on it, that I later replaced with a pink, floral dress. I still have it, and took pretty good care of it. Then my dog made a minor rip in it but that's fixed. So, did you have a childhood treasure, who gave to you? Do you still have it? |
Aww, how sweet. :)
I have a number of childhood treasures, first one that comes to mind is a little stone pendant my dad gave me as a souvenir from New Zealand. I don't remember how old I was when I got it(that in itself tells you I must've been pretty young :XD), but it's special to me. |
My bunny Bunny, heheh

I would probably have to say that Searchlight is my fondest childhood treasure. Searchlight is a gray and white wolf looking husky stuffed animal that I got from a claw machine that resides in an old no longer existing bingo place.
My dad and I used to like the small Asian owned snack place next door to it. We liked getting sparkling apple juice there. One day he took me to the bingo place next door, it was closed but this nice guy let us in to try the claw machine and he placed Searchlight on the edge of the prize drop box so all I would have to do was knock her in with the claw. She had appealed to me for the wolf appearance I thought she was one at first. I have always loved wolves. I named her Searchlight after the novel 'Stone Fox' which I had been reading at the time in the fourth grade. I used to sleep with Searchlight and take her everywhere. I even made her a collar, over and over again actually because I was not pleased with it several times. basically I taped a piece of paper with her name and my address on it to one of those cheapo bead chains. Hopefully you know what I mean I can't figure out how to describe it and don't know its proper name. And yes I still have her today, she still wears the collar and sits with my other stuffed animals on a shelf in my closet. http://i47.tinypic.com/ejj414.jpg Opps looks like the tag fell off the collar and I had forgotten about the keyring, but that's my girl. Her first home that bingo center, and the whole complex including the snack place was all demolished years ago for condos I think. Of course it's always condos. *eye roll*. I would love to have a dog like this in real life. |
My only real childhood treasure is a teddy bear my god-father got for me when I was born. Still have it downstairs in a trunk thats filled with stuff(certificates, awards, randoms) that my parents figured I would like to keep from the years Ive been around.

Hmm Childhood treasures....
Right now the only thing I really have from that time is the clock that was on my wall. It hangs over the bar right now. (For lack of a better place to put it...) It's light pink with a koala bear in a tree, and the second hand has a little bird on it. I've had it since goodness I was 4? I use to have a very special Care Bear that I had kept since I was about the same age, but it's somewhere in England right now. I just happened to find the clock sitting in my parents garage when I moved back to the US and immediately grabbed it and took it back to the new house with me. My mom did have my old Sesame Street Record player, which I wish she would of hung on to as it was one of my favorite items. I had a bunch of old records I would play over and over. Mainly Sesame Street, but I had the record from "American Tale" - somewhere out there. I use to listen to that ALOT. Man I wish mom held onto that...but I think after I forgot to take it with me she just threw it out. :( It took massive D batteries...or you could plug it into the wall with the right adapter. Most everything I had kept has gotten lost in England, or my mom pitched it after I moved out. I had kept my very first pair of glasses, several stuffed animals I had throughout the years, and I still had my baseball card collection in my closet. I think I still kept a dufflebag full of beaten up, limbs lost, ninja turtles I use to play with but once again they were probably pitched. I kinda wish I had Undercover Don as that was probably my favorite one out of the bunch. Donatello rocks! |
That would have to be a baby doll, named Cumba.
"Cumba" was how I used to say "cucumber", which was my favourite food. I've no idea why I decided to name her after food, but loved her to pieces, and took her everywhere with me. I and two of my cousins (we're all very close in age) got one each for our second Christmas, off our Nana. There are family pictures of all three of us sat together on Christmas morning, in matching outfits, carrying our matching dolls. I know at least one of my cousins still has hers. I still have mine too, only she belongs to my baby girl now. |
I have this little music box. It's a mouse, asleep on tall grass with a leaf for a blanket. It's done in such a soft green it nearly looks white. My godfather gave it to me. It doesn't play music anymore. No one can remember what song it did play... but it's my treasure.

My mom made this charcoal drawing for me when I was a little girl. At the time I loved everything about the sea so she decided to sketch me a ship lost in a storm at sea. I loved it. It hung in my room for quite some time but then, when we left the house, it got left behind somehow.
I feel terrible for not being able to save it but I do treasure the memory of it and the adoration for my mother that caused me to go into art for a hobby as well. |
Right when I was first born, I got a baby doll from my favorite uncle. Apparently, I was scared of her at first for she squeaked whenever you squish her belly, but I grew to love her over the years. Squeaky Baby (As I remember calling her) has gone through years of tea-parties, picnics, dress-up, and bedtime stories. And I still have her, on a shelf in the closet. She still squeaks...

Awww. These are some good ones. It feels good to have something that really means a lot to you and is really special. I hate to lose things that I really miss. |
When I was little I guess I collected a lot of small things...I have three from my childhood that I would have to call "treasures" in that they are probally the only things I still have since I have moved around a bit...One is a small blue glass "rock", another was a large iron ball baron (sp?) and the last is a geisha doll that my dad brought for me when he was overseas.

I have a little dog stuffed toy that my grandmother gave me when I was born. I still have it. And another bear my aunt gave me which was my favorite teddy bear. I still have both of those, and I had a stuffed animal poodle which was pink and my mom gave it to me, all I have left of her is her ear. :( Poor poodle.
The list could go on, because I'm a packrat and keep things for years and cherish them. |
my childhood treasure was snowball she was less then a foot with blue eyes i had her ever since i could remember i took her everywhere even as i got older i still took her everywhere once i colored her different colors and named her rainbow.....but when i was 15/16/17 my grandfather died the only one i have ever known and i sent snowball with my mom to california so he could have a cat in the hospital with him and then he died and snowball was creammated with him and not long after that his cat tom-cat died and my mom brought me home a grey wolf that was my grandfather's fav. animal and i named him grump-paw after my grandfarther......but it is just not the same........

I had a small stuffed lamb I was given the day I was born that I never really put down for manymany years. It had puffy fleece all over it and I dragged it by its hind leg all around the house and outside. I never bothered thinking of a name or gender, and I still have it. Right now it's completely fleece-less and worn. Poor thing is a bald lamb. It'd still be one of the first things I'd grab during a fire, though.

I still have a stuffed Simba that I got when I was 4, sitting in my closet.
|
I had a lot of treasures as a kid... I'm a pack rat so I still have most of them.
The most important one to me is a stuffed cat named Buttons. I got him when I was in the second grade. It was the third time I'd been hospitalized in two years and he came in a balloon. I thought he was adorable and I almost cried when I woke up the next morning and the balloon had shrunk around him. My dad asked a nurse for a pair of scissors and performed a balloon opening surgery to get the cat out. Ever since then he's been my go-to cuddle buddy. He's definitely seen better days. He had his arm ripped off once, some of his fur is missing, his stuffing isn't so stuffy anymore... and I don't think that his white parts have been white in years. It's a secret, but I still take him with me on long trips. He's a very well traveled stuffed animal. Over half the States and four countries. xD |
Stuff.
I have quite a few. XD Too many, really. People gave me all sorts of stuffed toys when I was little.
|
I got this bunny when I was just a child, and it was probably about the same size of me. I used to keep it with me all the time, and would sleep with at at night. Though I should still have it. I believe that it's in storage with my other stuffed animals. But that one is the most cherished out of all the ones that I have.
|
My childhood treasure is are a couple of stuffed animals one of them being a bear and the other a bunny I still keep them with me and I had a other childhood treasure I got when I was six years old it was a small pretty doll but I lost it when I moved, I still miss even though I'm thirteen years old now, it'll be always in my heart <333.

Mine would have to be my stuffed dog I named "Max". My mom got him for me the first time I ever had Strep Throat when I was about 4. That and my quilt my great-grandmother sewed for me when I was a baby. She's about 96 now and can't sew anymore. The quilt even has my name and birthday on one corner :)
|
i had a rock.
|
Hmmm... The only one I can think of at the moment was my very first(and only xD) Valentine. I got it from my best guy friend when I was in the third grade. It's an adorable little red-and-white teddy bear. It came with a box of chocolates, I believe. ^^ |
My childhood treasure eh?
Mine would have to be my memories. some were good some were bad like my near death experiences as a kid. I mean each moment was important and it onl;y makes sense that i would want my memories! |
